The talon is ok a rock crawling but keep in mind it is a sport machine. It has low gear which is nice for that but I not a huge fan of the i4wd. That’s probably it’s biggest setback. It works OK but nothing can replace a true locking front diff. Luckily there are several i4wd drive bypasses available now as well as a torq locker!

Does that base have a d mode switch installed?
I do have the d mode switch yes. We where running it in sport mode
Do you heat with wood? Looks like a dry slab wood gold mine out there!
My father in law has a couple portable sawmills he makes lumber with to sell. That’s where all the slabs come from.
We heat with natural gas but could certainly use wood as backup.
