Hi everyone! I wanted to share a quick update on paper recommendations. I no longer suggest using the Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth Pad. Instead, I highly recommend the Strathmore 400 Series Marker Pad. It's from the same brand, so the pricing and sizes are similar, but the 400 series is much better for blending! I’ve been using it in my online course, and it blends colours almost as well as coated cardstock. The only downside is that it can start to pill after multiple layers, but overall, it's a great option.

What an incredible video. I could tell this took a TON of planning, preparation, and editing time. Thanks for going through all this trouble to demonstrate the different types of outcomes one can expect from acrylic markers. VERY helpful and well produced video.

@@AngelaPanArt It certainly will moving forward. I'm partial to uncoated paper, but I'm just getting started with Poscas and it seems as though smooth/coated/sturdy stock is the way to go in order to avoid tearing up the paper or the nibs.

Thank you so much for this video! I was definitely very stressed about finding the right kind of paper for acrylic markers! Been blaming on the markers but it seems like it’s the paper as well! Thank you so much again!

I hope you'll find the right kind of paper after this video! Some markers can dry up easier than others so both the markers and paper can be causing the problem 😊

Thanks for the coated paper tip! I have tons of it around and this would be a great use for it! I had been gesso-ing my paper, but that took a lot of time. This sounds like a nice alternative!

This is very interesting to watch! I haven't really thought about how the texture and coating affects the material you're using. I remember I used to hate using markers when I was a kid because of the paper peeling and this is why!

Hi Angela! This month I'm practicing with Posca markers, so I'm rewatching all of your tutorial videos. I got a sample of the Legion Yupo medium paper, and it seems to have the same qualities you like in paper. I'm going to get a larger size today - the main difference from the paper you recommend would be the price. This is expensive! But I think it's a good choice. Today I'm also maybe going to get some of these other "synthetic" papers, like stone paper and another one I saw last time in the store - I think it was made from plastic. I'll be interested to see how they work. Anyway, just tossing those out there if you ever wanted to try them!

    • @AngelaPanArt

Have you heard of Rendr sketchbooks? They boast that it can be used for all media, including Posca. I know some marker paper is intended more for alcohol markers and focuses on being non-bleeding, but like you said, the coating definitely seems to make a huge difference for Posca. Rendr does not seem to be coated, so I wonder how it would actually stand up.

    • @AngelaPanArt

I've never heard of it, but I can try it out next time I'm looking for new sketchbooks :) Yeh from doing this test I realized you can achieve okay to good results on uncoated smooth paper but for best results you'd need coated paper; for my style and techniques at least :D

This is such a nice and well edited video! Thank you so much Angela. For all the effort and for sharing 🙏🏻 I just followed your Domestika course, ordered paper (again)but was second guessing whether I made the right choices
I have some questions as cardstock paper is not a common term in Western Europe. Do you know where to find it? Do you have a translation of the term, perhaps in French? Because your Amazon links don't work in this part Europe and there are no shopping, results when I just Google it.
Did you try the very affordable Claire Fontaine Paint On Lisse paper? And Amsterdam acrylic paint paper (in nice sketchbooks)
I already spent a lot of money on paper and just ordered the expensive Molotow sketchbooks. But now I see your video I don't have to ruin a new sketchbook again, because it's not what I'm looking for.
Mossery ships to the Netherlands 🙌🏼 however shipping is more expensive than the sketchbook itself. Plus your covers are sold out
Why looking for good paper is such a quest? 😂
