Why exactly it works that way, nobody really knows. Hypothesis is that the pulse wave multiplies your heat emissions (and silent running shuts emissions to the minimum.) But regardless of WHY it works, it works!
Glad you asked, and disappointed the answer is "no one knows": planning on that kind of basis is usually fatal! But it's also utterly counter-intuitive. Almost certain this is a bug involving improper handling of signed integers, since the experience is the *direct opposite* of the expected behaviour. Some will celebrate: personally exploiting systems is my day job so I avoid it like the plague when gaming. Not judging others who do differently.
@@geroffmilan3328 I don't think it has to do with integer signing. I think it has to do with "what is being multiplied?" If emissions (instead of generation) is being multiplied, silent running cuts those to the ship's minimum, and thus the behavior seen would be explained.
@@Astyrrean I'm not sure that makes sense - but wide open to the idea that I'm missing something! Emissions don't do damage. They affect detection. Silent running limits emissions as you say but, crucially, at the expense of a damaging build-up of internal heat. The only mechanic I'm aware of regarding heat is that one: heat build-up causes damage. An effect which somehow multiplied emissions without causing internal heat build-up would seem to have two problems: it's nonsensically illogical, and all it should do is make you light up like a quasar - not cause damage. If in fact it *does* cause internal heat build-up, silent running should be compounding that effect. So I think something is quite broken somewhere. All a bit academic for me now anyway. I don't think I've ever been less impressed by Elite than with Titan bombing. Tedious, unpredictable - more so on a clearly-unatable platform - and outside of the SCO drives, amongst the least rewarding activities in the game (both financially & as an experience). I just had a common-core Krait Mk. II go from 100% hull to 13% during the Titan pulse (without being bounced out) then quickly explode. Zero fun was had.
Thank you for this and how much you've worked to welcome any and all new commanders and previously retired commanders into the defense of Earth these last few weeks. A question for someone who has never bombed a Titan before. I noticed that in your Krait runs, the core resets to 100% between the two times it was exposed. Is this just normal? As a solo player without engineered shards, can you expect to destroy the core? Or are you just there to damage it and pick up combat bonds?
The latter. Core always resets after each cycle. The colored "rings" represent how many of the 8 "hearts" of the Titan are still whole. As hearts get destroyed over the next few days, those rings of the thermal core will start turning off. Once the final heart is destroyed, the thermal core properly explodes in a large explosion, and the Titan enters meltdown state. 24 hours later, it "goes nova" in an absolutely humongous explosion that usually comes with a watch party!
This guide was immensely helpful. Only ship I have on standby that runs remotely cold enough is a Diamond Back Scout, but it was able to do the job, even if it was very little damage (1 nanite torp and 1 ax missile). Now that I am on the board and have clocked some damage on the titan, I can get my Krait mk2 ready for some real damage. Thanks for the awesome guide
Thank you very much for the video. I started to play like 2 weeks ago, doing Sol refugee missions 8 passengers at a time with a Hauler, so needless to say I am quite out of my league there. But i'll try that with a Diamonback Scout, it's not much but damn this is fun. Looking forward to a more peaceful career when the Ayys are gone.
I have a lowly version of the Krait mot as well engineered, practically stuck together with duct tape and chewing gum, but I scored some hits with this guide, so it's gotta be good!
You must know this, and probably forgot to do it for the video: After selecting Sol, go to the right side and open the starmap. Then select the Titan there, so when you get to Sol, you don't have to select the Titan, just jump there.
Why this guy is looking like a bank manager trying to teach me about thargoid titan bombing tactics, when I just want to ask what to do when my bank account was robbed?😂 best man ever.
Hey, not new to the game, 9 years playing in fact, but never did much combat and was never interested in fighting Thargoids until this event. So I assembled the Python mk2 Titan Bomber after your build and didn't really expect to be able to make a dent in the bombing yesterday, but when I got through to the Titan, I actually did... and much better than expected! This bomber is a fabulous piece of machinery! I've never been in Titan space before and managed to get a few shots in in solo, staying cold and hidden among the monsters. Later in a group we did a lot more damage, but this was such a great success! Thanks for giving me this death machine!
Wow!!!!! With some trepidation and as a total noob I followed the video instrucions (mostly) Built the ship Hit the instance solo Used all but 1 of the caustic sinks on the way in. Totally messed up the thargoid wave bit. Kept going got to the asteroids on 17% hull. FORGOT TUE DAMN LIMPETS! Synthesise the limpets. Repair hull a bit Got 3 vents first run Ran away and hid Bit more repairing Then did 3 more runs and got 2 vents then 4 then 4 Got 20 million in combat bonds Great video! Where do I cash in the bonds ? Sol system or somewhere else?
O7 Cmdr, many thanks for the master class. I applied today the real exercise with 2 sessions of bombing the Titan, and with the Krait Mark 2 bomber fitting, I made about 14 runs in 2 sessions, earning more than 40 millions CR (10 Millions in the first session and 30 millions in the second session). I did not loose the ship. I still need a lot of practice in the flight move from the heat vents bombing to going to the Titan Core but that's fun. I would not have been able to do this without your master class. Glory to mankind !
I have done my practice and have played my part in this massive war! It is time for my personal Demon Slayer fleet (Anaconda "Lad Mirazh", Chieftain "Ishrion", and Krait II "Medblare") to rest and bring out the Python II "Sky Harbinger" to bring the titan its final reckoning. Glory to Mankind!! o7
I'm trying to make your intro Krait build, where do you get the AX Missile Launchers? I bought something with the same name, but only do 20% of your damage and they can't be engineered (yours are G5, High Capacity). I've checked Jameson Memorial, the Rescue ship in Luytens, can't find them anywhere.
The Sirius Anti Xeno Missile Racks I’m using in the video are bought from TECH BROKERS at Sirius Megaships. The ones that you buy from Rescue Megaships (Enhanced AX Missile Racks) are not all that worse though.
You can use them. They just have half as much ammo, and about the same DPS, as Sirius missile racks. So the damage-per-dive of Sirius AXMRs is much higher. But the damage-per-cycle is similar.
Mouse settings: ua-cam.com/video/uyrNtOEqpzE/v-deo.html As for Flight Assist, there's a few things to know: - FA "caps" your lateral/reverse/vertical velocity (but NOT forward velocity) by half. This is a huge limitation is situations where you need that speed in any direction other than your bearing, such as, for example, in cold orbiting. So, for cold orbiting, the default is to use FA OFF (though it is entirely possible to cold orbit with FA enabled - it is just a lot harder) - Turning FA OFF makes the ship a lot more responsive and, with controls properly set, makes it a lot easier to aim fixed weapons, especially in close quarters - Turning FA ON lets the ship "cheat" with regards to how quickly in can decelerate (but not accelerate). So if you ever need to "break hard" (such as for example to chase an interceptor rearm), briefly tapping TA ON will help significantly with that. In TitanBombing, you're mostly moving "forward" so disabling FA isn't strictly required. You can bomb vents with FA On or Off. It's entirely your preference. For cold orbiting and combat in AXCZ, the reverse is true. There you will generally want Flight Assist disabled, except for those moments where you want to "break hard" - then you briefly tap it on.
You can build the "Farseer Edition" MK2 build which has very low engineering and only Farseer as as unlock. BUT! It's gonna be hell anywhere near AXs without a seriously engi'd ship, I've warned you :D
Hi AX noob here: Do I need the guardian torpedos to open the heat vents? If I do, do I need to go unlock those before tomorrow or are they available like the caustic stuff?
I have an issue with the python mk2 build, i did it exactly right, but it says i'm at 118% when weapons are deployed, and i cant shut off any more module for the build to be effective.... Also it's wierd cause in the video off cmdr mechan and on EDSY i should be at 108% with this build... Is it the shield boosters HD SC that are problematics?? Everything on EDSY is G5.... i dont understand...
I'm gonna try to keep just one OA HD SC Shield boosters insted of 2 OE CAUSE i dont have them engineered RN. For that you need to deactivate your caustic sink and pulse netralizer, u dont need'em when you have hardpoint deployed in theory. And as this configuration give us one empty utility, i choose one heatsink more for extra ammo. Technically this build work but offer less boost for the shield and just 4 heatsink ammo in bonus...
REPORT : my build with less shield HP and more Heat Sinks Launchers work just fine, my shield have gone down twice because i was flying silly AND even then i didn't die at all So the extra shield HP are NOT mandatory, if, like me you only have 1 OA Shield booster G HD SC. But what about the extra heatsink launcher ? Is it usefull? Well it give you way more flexibility relative to when and HOW OFTEN you resuply all your Heat sinks thus making you lose less material for the same end result and globaly same heat signature cover if you're careful (play with keybind and fire groups ). I make 110,000,000 credit for each dive without any premium ammo and end up everytime with every mag empty, SO ansolute efficiency here. @Astyrrean TY VERY MUCH !
launch heatsinks, fly fast, hit vents, if they are near you enable silent running and launch heatsink, go under, shoot core, get out of there. Its REALLY not that hard trust me
There’s always going to be SOME patrols. It’s the EXTRA patrols, and notably the scouts that spawn each cycle, which you want to get out of the instance.
He can't move anymore. Before Cocijo moved to Sol, he still had these exact 16 controlled systems which have "moved" there along with him and have been claimed back by us.
I think this is impossible to make that required 3-axes acceleration with a keyboard-mouse (on/off) properly, right? Do I need a stick to strike all 8 vents making an only a single circle?
I give up. Using the pre built krait mk2 I can't even get to the titan. You take no damage and I'm getting absolutely destroyed by caustic mines while running silent.
Learning to avoid caustic mines is a bit of an art. Have you tried turning on night vision before dropping into the maelstrom? Some people find that it helps them see (and thus avoid) the mines.
@Astyrrean I think I found my issue. I did not know how to properly use heatsinks and was not activating them. Maybe I won't take as much damage on my next attempt. Will try as soon as I get home. I'm only a few hours into the game and still learning.
a shame i couldn't really participate in this community goal. i just don't have any engineers unlocked besides farseer. so i can't even use the common core krait.
Hey Cmdr Mechan Thanks for the video. Just a heads up, the small spotify client overlay is really not needed, you should replace it with a song name-artist rolling overlay that sits under your cam. Also the keyboard overlay should be more transparent than it already is. Like 30-40% more transparent.
@@AR45H I've built one a week ago without ARX, it's credits only now. Really fun to drive (but forgot to engi the PP to 5 somehow and that's why I was wondering why I have all the energy needed but higher thermals). Really stick to the build or it's not gonna work, UP and INCLUDED the boosters which are 0E (my automatism put the 0A inside and had to change/re-engi them!)
@@Astyrrean Huh, that's odd. I can't seem to find it even in Jameson Memorial. Could it have something to do with me not owning Odyssey? That's probably it.
You can attack the titan anytime, I just went for a trial run. The "vulnerable" status means that its HP actually drop. You can do this run and get only 2M credit while while vulnerable you would get 28M for a full core destruction like the good CMDR Mechan just did with the PythonMK2. it's simply means you do scratch damage if you attack now so it's basically useless, but it will be the same.

This video got my noob ass into the maelstrom and successfully doing bombing runs! Took a few tries to get there, but it feels like a great success to me, anyway. Now to rinse and repeat!
I wish I knew this sooner, before I died dozen or so times trying to gather materials for AGZ 😅
This tutorial is the best of all I've seen before 😎
many thanks Commander o7
but step by step, learning from my mistakes, I was very close to completing the mission correctly 😅
Haven't seen anyone else mention the thing about beam lasers. That explains why I was being attacked before the vents even opened! Never got to fire a single torpedo. Tomorrow will go much better, I hope! Thanks very much. o7
Thank you for this video, can't wait to try this out this weekend! I'll be trying it out in a cold FAS since I don't have a Krait engineered up (and I don't want to possibly miss this event by wasting time farming materials to do that).
o7 and thanks for this..came back to this game after one year and it was the first time ever doing AX! only died the first time because i didn't used the caustic sinks correctly. after the second attempt i got through and did 2 bombing runs ( only managed to hit 4 vents per run) it was awesome! i actually wanted to "canonically escape after my runs and made it with 10% hull! because i ran out of caustic sinks( then i remember i can remove it with 120% heat! now i will start my proper AX fighting the goids
18:50 Doesn't silent running make your heat go up? How will it prevent you from overheating?
Man, you make it look easy!!! Happy with two thermal vents - after trying to find them - haha
Getting 19m per run almost consistently. Hell yeah thanks for all the work you do!
Thanks for the awesome guide
o7
used your tutorial and a krait build (ish) to do my first AXI encounter tonight, did about 3 runs and lived to see another day 😄
Nice work!
Thumbnail reminds me of the briefing before missions back in Wing Commander, which I'm a huge fan of. I remember playing that as a very little kid
Ha! The scene is actually from Top Gun: Maverick.
You must know this, and probably forgot to do it for the video: After selecting Sol, go to the right side and open the starmap. Then select the Titan there, so when you get to Sol, you don't have to select the Titan, just jump there.
Could use the featured builds in the description perhaps?
Added!
Why this guy is looking like a bank manager trying to teach me about thargoid titan bombing tactics, when I just want to ask what to do when my bank account was robbed?😂 best man ever.
o7 and many thanks, without your advices I could barely make 13.7m in bonds today!
Nice work!
@@Astyrrean Many thanks :) It was amazing (after 3 failed attempts due to caustic). Never give up! Everyone is able to do it!
Thank You Cmdr o7
"You attack one of us, you attack all of us!"~Spiderman(movie)
17:05 How strange, the thargoids targeted France 😂😂😂😂
For newcomers to the AXI Private Group :
ACTIVATE PORT FORWARDING
And for the love of god, turn off the Report crime against me
Wow!!!!! With some trepidation and as a total noob I followed the video instrucions (mostly)
Built the ship
Hit the instance solo
Used all but 1 of the caustic sinks on the way in.
Totally messed up the thargoid wave bit.
Kept going got to the asteroids on 17% hull.
FORGOT TUE DAMN LIMPETS!
Synthesise the limpets.
Repair hull a bit
Got 3 vents first run
Ran away and hid
Bit more repairing
Then did 3 more runs and got 2 vents then 4 then 4
Got 20 million in combat bonds
Great video!
Thank you for the kind words!
Glory to Mankind!! o7
May the force be with you...
I helped to free FOUR systems. I liked it. Made almost a billion credits.
I spent yesterday afteroon making a pyton mk2 titan bomber.
Don't know if I missed it but what is the heat threshold for detection by the thargs? 20%?
It was by ship, but 20% is a good universal reference.
Thanks for the hard work. Quick question: if we’re not using the laser, can we equip a fourth AX missile rack ?
Sure
is the reason for not using enhanced AX missile racks due to power?
You can use them. They just have half as much ammo, and about the same DPS, as Sirius missile racks. So the damage-per-dive of Sirius AXMRs is much higher. But the damage-per-cycle is similar.
Thank you! :) o7
what are your mouse settings? in-game and also driver dpi pls. Also what is the criteria for FA-off/on?
Mouse settings: ua-cam.com/video/uyrNtOEqpzE/v-deo.html
As for Flight Assist, there's a few things to know:
- FA "caps" your lateral/reverse/vertical velocity (but NOT forward velocity) by half. This is a huge limitation is situations where you need that speed in any direction other than your bearing, such as, for example, in cold orbiting. So, for cold orbiting, the default is to use FA OFF (though it is entirely possible to cold orbit with FA enabled - it is just a lot harder)
- Turning FA OFF makes the ship a lot more responsive and, with controls properly set, makes it a lot easier to aim fixed weapons, especially in close quarters
- Turning FA ON lets the ship "cheat" with regards to how quickly in can decelerate (but not accelerate).
We'll just have to wait and see what Thargsday brings... and how many JJ 386 Cobras show up to the fight.
I always bombed all titans solo. And recently I changed my krait for a phyton mk II and not so happy about it...
o7 CMDR : I would love to help but I'm still nearly 30kly from the bubble... good stuff in this tutorial!
after bombing the pineapple you go above the vent side or the pineapple side ??
Pineapple side (or “core side” as we call it :)
Can a non engineered krait mk2 help ?
Totally. Though if you can at least get G3 drives at farseer, your life will improve a lot ...
You can build the "Farseer Edition" MK2 build which has very low engineering and only Farseer as as unlock. BUT! It's gonna be hell anywhere near AXs without a seriously engi'd ship, I've warned you :D
I just log off and log back. Then I will be outside of the cloud. Then I jump away.
Hi AX noob here: Do I need the guardian torpedos to open the heat vents? If I do, do I need to go unlock those before tomorrow or are they available like the caustic stuff?
fellow noob here. they are available in outfitting without unlocking any blueprints at rescue ships.
Just got back into elite and was getting ready and when i was ready the community goal was already met so im fucked whent way too fast...
OKAY GUYS THE SHIELD BOOSTERS ARE OE CLASS AND NOT OA LIKE IN EVERY OTHER BUILD EVER DONE LOL
Hey when i reach titan how can ı avoid those ?scouts? the seem to get me everytime ( i did it 3 times) without me starting my heat level is 24-27
For me the patrols NEVER leave even in solo play. I sit in the asteroids forever below 20% heat and they just don't leave. Any thoughts
launch heatsinks, fly fast, hit vents, if they are near you enable silent running and launch heatsink, go under, shoot core, get out of there. Its REALLY not that hard trust me
There’s always going to be SOME patrols. It’s the EXTRA patrols, and notably the scouts that spawn each cycle, which you want to get out of the instance.
@@Astyrrean Thanks. These helped. I got it down now :)
I have a feeling that the Titan is going to move to another system again, and we will have to start all over. Just a theory.
Nah, they want this war to be over, this progress on the last titan has been unusually fast as well
He can't move anymore. Before Cocijo moved to Sol, he still had these exact 16 controlled systems which have "moved" there along with him and have been claimed back by us.
@Wither_czachThanks for clarifying.
I think this is impossible to make that required 3-axes acceleration with a keyboard-mouse (on/off) properly, right? Do I need a stick to strike all 8 vents making an only a single circle?
I am doing it with KBM… and you can check how live with the key overlay in top right of the screen.
@@Astyrrean Oh I though that's just an indication from a stick. Ok. I see. Then I have a hope )
in description you put python mk3
I am ahead of the game.
Хороший и полезный видос, спасибо бро!
Hey Cmdr Mechan
Thanks for the video.
Just a heads up, the small spotify client overlay is really not needed, you should replace it with a song name-artist rolling overlay that sits under your cam. Also the keyboard overlay should be more transparent than it already is. Like 30-40% more transparent.
Great suggestions, thank you!
@@Astyrrean Np, and give em hell Commander.
The solo Python MkII bomber looks really fun. Wish it wasn't locked behind arx.
@@AR45H It no longer is.

I Need a mandalay unengineered AX build if anybody can toss out ideas.
How can you attack titan when he is not vulnerable ?? sry AX noob ;)
You can, you just won't do much damage. Tomorrow it'll be vulnerable.
Music kinda cringe but good tutorial and thanks commander
Sounds very much like AI generated music...? I noticed that too, but it's cheaper than paying someone to actually compose a song about Thargoids I guess!
That's correct! We used SUNO. And we wouldn't have been ever able to make this without :).
Will the system-wide AGZ dissapear after the titan goes vulnerable?
No. It will only drop when Titan goes Kaboom. Repulsion field drops instead when Titan goes into meltdown.
Is cmdr mechan french???
Nope. Italian-American!
I got through the repellent pulse but cant find the asteroid field or titan
i had a feeling sol was gonna be lost the greefer got what they wanted we lost sol at a fat cost
