    Some advice.. on your butt joints... on your first pass rather than running your 10”or12” down the center.. do a pass on each side of the joint (setting at 0) and when you do a second pass run you 15” down the center of the butt joint.. Your butt joints will be extremely Flat

      They use butt board completely unnecessary to do additional side passes and those butt joints are truly flat.

    Does that monster push hard ? And do you think it makes much difference I’ve been on auto tools for 40 years and I haven’t had a problem with the 12 inch box

    I used these tools 23 years ago when I was a drywall contractor. Then again 10 years ago on a buddy's addition. Now I have my own second floor to finish and I'm renting them from Ames. My biggest concern is mixing the mud to the right consistency. It's been a while. I remember I really struggled going from hand-taping to the boxes and realizing how soupy I needed to make my mud. Any tips?
    Also just saw you coating Nocoat angles with a 5.5 box. Great idea. I have knee wall hell upstairs. 200' of off angles!

    I bought the 15" for finish quality, it is awesome. As for build quality, it's horrible. It uses the old tapetech design, it's a pain to clean, it drips mud from the bottom corners, the box edges are not chamfered so when you try to put the pallet back with the gasket, it's a pain. The new wheels are nice tho. I just wish they'd use the Maxxbox build caracteristics to make this new box. It is easier to push than I expected. Also when I reveived it, with the setting at 0, it was still curving outside the box, I had to dismantle it and reform the brass holder as much as the design allow you to curve it.
    I like it, but I certainly don't love it, like I love my 12" maxxbox.

      Yea I had 20 year old tapetech flat boxes and they NEVER leaked from the bottom and the pallet with the gasket was easy to put back in the box after cleaning.

      I bought one to use on extra wide recesses in certain situations. I ran it on zero for all four passes. Finally it filled up, it left no crown on any pass

    Kinda wonder why you didn’t split the butt joints .

    So ive got a question, do you do she shorts first or the long first?

    • @ClashGardener
      @ClashGardener 3 роки тому +2

      I prefer shorts by hand. Trowel coat and skim. Mud is different where I'm at. I was west coast I was getting away with box down both sides of tape on short (butt) then down the center once dry. Then skim with trowel or both both sides again to tape off center mound. I prefer only to box flats first coat and that's it. With all the dancing and tweaking you can't beat a trowel.

    10" and 12" are more than enough there most be more ideas to improve on drywall tools but this i think is waste .

      No jobs the same for instance. Slick 10. 12 and then. . 15. Piss coat to fill pin holes etc .or how about skim coating a big ceiling . Many credible applications that I can think of I recently purchased one but have not run mud through yet.
