I respectfully disagree this time Chris. (*full spoilers below*)(Just an opinion of course) 1. Yes Magneto's scene in the beginning was VERY emotional, but he became a blend villain after that. 2. Quick Silver's relationship with Magneto wasn't explored, at all, huge waste of opportunity. 3. Wolverine scene was super cool, but kinda unnecessary. 4. The action scenes weren't coordinated well, everyone was fighting separately. 5. Apocalypse barely has any motivation, if at all. 6. The three horseman other than Magneto didn't really have much character. 7. Why exactly did Storm and Magneto turn against Apocalypse? 8. Apocalypse's death felt too... easy, and Jean's transformation just came outta nowhere. Though the special effects are on point, and Quicksilver scenes are phenomenal.
+超粒方 about No. 1 if you see your wife or child murdered in front of you would you not kill the ones who did it? And if the only thing that matters to you was taken away right in front of your eyes would you not go all VILLAINY? No 4. the action scenes. These kids got their first battle and there's always a first time so its expected that they won't coordinate and fight flawlessly. 7. Storm felt a change of heart she was at first a good person but Apocalypse brainwashed her but in the last fight Apocalypse lost that brainwashing power that's why she was free. Magneto's expected to flip since we all know he still cares for Mystique. 8. Who would survive Phoenix's heat? 9. you forgot to mention Psylocke's hot costume.
1. Magneto has been strugling with humans his whole life, i think he just lost it when his family died even when he was trying to be normal; I can't see a problem with that. 2. That is gonna be in a future movie, Quicksilver wasn't ready to let him know just like that. 3. Without Wolverine, they could have never rescue them... Deus Ex Machina, but I think it worked better than Flash or Spider-Man, and also sets a future appearence in upcoming X-Men movies. 4. Most of them were new at fighting, at the end, they are gonna start practicing as a team. 5. In the beggining, they show him believing he's a god. In this new world, he gets mad at how many leaders there are. He wants to be the ultimate leader. 6. I'll give you that. But with so many characters, is impossible to give enough screen time to all of them. 7. Well, Magneto knew Apocalypse was wrong and Charles was always right about him, he's not an angry blind follower, and also, Magneto respect all mutants, while Apocalypse kills everyone who gets in his way. Storm was grateful with Apocalypse, butsince the beginning, she hasn't the same ideology, she was seducted by the power. 8. That's the fenix power, you watched on X-Men 3. They are building Jean Greys character
This franchise is all over the place now. It's like a prequel to an alternate dimension of a plot hole that never happened inside of an origin story. Smh.
While Days of Future Past seemed to bring it all together in a pretty cool way. Even fixing past mistakes....THIS just took a big shit on all of it. this movie actually sucked.
The good: -Magneto's story -The acting chops especially of McAvoy and Fassbender -SWEET special effects -Wolverine cameo -Quicksilver scene -PHOENIX -Surprisingly gratuitously violent/bloody for a PG-13 movie The Bad: -Apocalypse didn't do a whole lot -Movie could have been avoided if Moira covered up the entrance with the rug?? -Quicksilver doesn't confront magneto -Jarring shift between funny quicksilver scene and Alex's death -Age dif between magneto and quicksilver doesn't line up? -Mystique got psylocke's powers when she attacked apocalypse at the end?? -The fact that magneto still can't have a family and still uses anger/rage as a catalyst for his actions
I felt that the movie was just ok. I left the theatre quite unsatisfied. I felt that the stakes for days of future past were so much more urgent than this one. Some CGI were a bit wonky and I couldn't care less about Apocalypse's motivations. Maybe I had so much expectations for this one after how amazing days of future past was. I might be a minority here but I stand by my opinion.
Ah yes, plus the conflicts between Prof X and Magneto were all seen and experienced before and I know that it was supposed to be that way but it just comes off very stale. Nevertheless, the actors were amazing with the scripts thay were given.
+That Tuba Guy I can see where your coming from dude. At times the film was good but it was also had a few unnecasary moments in it is well. Like the inclusion of Stryker and Wolverine. Sure it was nice to see Wolverine wreck some soldiers like a badass again, but it felt like it was shoehorned into the film purely for fan service. And couldn't they find a better way to "kill off" Havok. I mean after he "died" its as if the film totally forgot about him.
I see everyone loving this film (Apart from the critics) but I agree with you. This film was super cheesy and the jokes fell flat on their face. What a fucking dissapointment. The critics were right about this film, fuck everyone else who thinks otherwise. Quicksilver and Magneto were good and that's about it for me. 4.8/10
I guess the critics are really getting superhero movie fatigue. The movie is great or at least decent if you wish. Quicksilver is awesome, it has great action, great comedy, the new X-men are good replacements, Magneto's scene in the forest is impressive...
i loved the movie... i am surprised with the critics too. i guess critics are reviewing it off the back of DOFP and civil war. this movie was really good and i cant wait for the next movie
Stuckmann has lost perspective. He got attention from the studios and now holds back critical analysis in order to stay in their good graces. I've seen it happen many times. They get invited to events, screeners etc and then feel bad about giving the movie a poor review.
My main critique was that Apocalypse wanted the strongest mutants alive. So he chose Storm, Psylocke and Angel? Umm... Jean is OMEGA level... Wolverine cant fucking die... The one good choice he made was Magneto but he allowed him to have free will.
Remember that he found Magneto and Angel because Psylocke recommended them. Also, Jean Grey was very young and her powers are not yet fully developed so not really the strongest at that time. Wolverine is a secret project and I am sure Psylocke doesn't know of his existence.
Well if they did Psylocke right then she is technically an Omega level mutant (in the comics) but they changed it, also Angel is critical to the Apocalypse plot (comicswise) but again they didn't give him proper treatment...
The reviews are pretty negative, but Chris's perspectives of movies are very very similar to mine.....well for now, I think I'm gonna trust Chris over some other (to me) unknown critics on this.
I think it sucked. It has some cool elements, lots of fan service included, but as a whole, it sucked. Was Apocalypse a huge threat to humanity? No, this is a guy that spent more time doing makeovers on shitty horsemen that end up being useless (even with their powers enhanced), than menacing human kind. His motives aren't clear, since he wants to destroy everything, but instead he puts Magneto to build him a cool pyramid, and the other horsemen to get their ass kicked (cos they suck), while he works on being able to access everyone's minds. The horsemen are just there, you don't get to know who they are, and why they decide to follow Apocalypse (except for Magneto). I did like Quicksilver in this film, and the things everyone's talking about, concerning Wolverine and Jean. But when it comes to stryker and Wolverine's whereabouts, didn't we see Mystique at the end of Days of Future Past taking care of him instead of the real Stryker? What happened there?
Don't see why it would change much. I personally view it as a B movie. Feel it gets too much hate than it deserves. Definitely didn't like it as much as Stuckmann though, but didn't think it sucked like (surprisingly) a lot of people did. Thought it was a good movie (but a step down from the previous 2), but with a weak villain. But the weak villain didn't really drag the movie down too much for me. If that was the case, I wouldn't like 95% of the MCU movies.
Stuckmann has said he usually knows how he feels after one viewing. He rarely ever changes his opinion, and when he does, he usually posts a updated review.
@@joefellasleep Exactly, that's my point, I'm not disagreeing. But the guy I replied to makes it seem as if Chris has done this a number of times. Even though, I only remember he did that for Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood
Glad that you have your own views, Chris. You are actually patient and give your own opinions, not caring about whether people disagree with you or not. Respect man.
+Jeremy Miller I also love movie critics like Chris, Jeremy Jahns, Flickpick, John Campea and Schmoesknow. When they discuss about movies, they do their best to go in depth and give their own honest opinions instead of following whatever is on the bandwagon. I rather have someone disagreeing with me on regarding whether a film is good or not - at least he or she is being honest with his or her views.
+Jeb Kush It is called his opinion. Chris is giving his own honest review, and if I happen to agree with it, then great, and if not, that is totally fine - at least in this review he shows that he is not merely 'bandwagoning', for a lack of better word.
My dad fell asleep watching this. I should also say that he didn't fall asleep on any Avenger's movie. This movie has it's moments, but also a bunch of problems. Especially how the good guys won. I'm straight tired of Deux Ex endings.
The entire movie came off as a complete average to me--for every good scene, there's an utterly terrible one. And the writing in this movie, man. Horrendous tick box of cliches. The effects were really poor too, but they didn't really matter to me as much as the flat narrative.
Yeah thats how I felt, occasionally I'd finally see a cool scene, or some character I liked, then RIGHT BACK to shit again. The only truly entertaining part was Wolverine...and thats something I thought would just be a bonus...instead he ends up being the ONLY great part about it. It sure did feel average but even that seems too generous of a word for this.
Yeah, the CGI was laughable in a lot of scenes (Psylocke in one scene where she jump to Angel and most of the scene were Magneto starts fucking shit up). Apocalypse didn't make me feel it was a threat when he was talking, the double voice cliche and the goofy look but when he was using his power I was thinking "holy shit, how are they gonna stop this guy?". And when Quicksilver started punching him I was like "please, don't do this shit" but then they fixed it. and that Wolverine scene felt just like fanservice
You can't imagine how happy it makes me that you actually like this movie, too. I saw it yesterday, already having in my head that so many critics didn't like it. And I came out and I was like "What the hell is their problem". It feels so good to not be alone in this matter. Thank you Chris :))
yeah 100%,, first class felt like a character study of both charles and erik, whereas dofp and apocalypse felt like big budget action movies with elements of character development
Is it just an X-Men thing now where they don't acknowledge plot threads of previous movies? Mystique being Stryker anyone? Also I have to say, Mustique being "the woman who starts a revolution" someone who "everyone looks up to" who is a "hero" to every mutant child... Honestly felt like pandering to Jennifer Lawrence, not that I'm saying it was intended, but Mystique's character just isn't written in an interesting way for me to take it seriously. And a lot of the CGI looked unfinished in some areas, like there were so many bits where the movie looked like a cartoon (Quicksilver's scene, Archangel's wings, Havok's scene). The movie was the definition of mixed bag for me.
+Limo Maker I don't like this version of Mystique either. But, it works in the universe they started with X men First class. I agree with you, it's not a compelling character at all, it even took me out of the movie for a little bit. They left the slate open for the Mystique character in First Class where she first goes to Charles and then he tells her to go with Erik where he knows her heart is. But, it makes sense with what they built up with First Class and then DOFP. It's not a comic book accurate version at all... But it's a franchise accurate version, we just don't like it. A lot of people don't actually. Nothing against Jennifer Lawrence, I actually love her and I think she's a great actress. But I just don't like this Mystique. Also, contrary to the trailers and what people are saying, I didn't find her performance phoned in at all or like she didn't want to be there. I thought her performance was fine. It's just not a well written character like say Quicksilver or even the young mutants, now. I loved the chemistry between Kurt, Jean and Scott.
yeah Jennifer Lawrence didnt even bother me at all the last 2 movies...but this time...she was just pathetic. Her role atleast...and she LOOKED like she didn't want to be there. Then again this movie has so many problems and shity flaws that I just think this movie plain sucked.
Houston Spoon she doesnt care about these movies anymore and you can tell with her bored look on her face the whole movie. and just because she is "in" now they decide to make her the main character and that just doesnt work
I don't agree with the critics. The movie was fuckin' A. Even though I want FOX to give the rights back to MARVEL. After watching the movie, I kinda think FOX is good at X-Men. Just don't fuck it up like FANT4STIC!
+Tricko8000 Except if Marvel did have it they'd do it right and stop butchering characters. It wouldn't be less violent just fucking watch Daredevil for fucks sake.
Forget the Film Critics! You give us fans the good, bad, and worst about all these popular films, and don't hold back at all. Also I like how you don't blow up about things unlike most film reviewers.
+johnnythao I think he messed up and was too fanboy on "The Force Awakens" (way too positive for basically a rehash of IV with a lot of plotholes and very little world development) but otherwise, yeah.
thibaldus3 The way he judges the movies seemed to be more towards personal opinion, and not the material. "The Force Awaken" indeed carried over a feel from "A New Hope", but many who caught it, weren't too upset about it, because the film didn't die there, it continued to bring in more and more mystery and excitement. Also the way he described the good and the bad about X-Apocalypse was very identical to how other youtuber's have described the film after seeing it, same awesomeness here, and same problem here.
I never disagree with you, Chris. And if I do, I never stray too far from what you say, but this time I do. This movie was an unmitigated floating piece of wolverine crap. -They spend the first hour and 15 minutes introducing the characters and plot, in the least-creative, half-assed ways possible. -The dialogue is exposition heavy, and the jokes don't land unless they're from Quicksilver. -The new characters are shit, and their "development", or lack thereof, is pretty jarring. Nightcrawler is probably the only one that I feel they did good with. -None of the returning actors look like they want to be there, and their characters are surprisingly mishandled. Mystique is droning and boring, and for some reason never in her blue state, despite her whole "mutant and proud" speech from first class, Magneto starts off good, but as soon as he joins Apocalypse, he doesn't really do anything, and just kind of stands around, and at the end, he switches sides for seemingly no reason, professor X is fine, Beast is still not beast for most of the movie, kind of shitting on the character from the comics, since him turning blue and furry is kind of his whole character arc, so giving him this magical cure ruins that. I didn't like it in DOFP, and I don't like it here. Havok is also killed off for no reason and the death was so mishandled that I didn't know he died until they said, "he was closest to the blast", yet the previous scene was very light-hearted and funny, with Quicksilver saving everyone, followed by the revelation that a main character is dead. Plus, how old is he? Cyclops seems like 17-18, and Havok and he look pretty close in age, yet he should be close to 40. Cyclops is the older brother in the comics anyway, so I guess we'll put that on the list of things they mess up from the source material. -That Wolverine segment had NOTHING to do with the plot, and exists purely to have Wolverine in the movie at some point, probably because of studio interference, (seriously FOX needs to fuck off). -No one ages. I understand Mystique ages slower, but everyone else should be in their 40s, with Xavier and Magneto being in their 50s, yet they both look the same as they did in first class. This is more of a nitpick, really, but it is actually a problem when Havok is supposed to be the older brother of Cyclops, yet is old enough to be his father. -There is no action until halfway through the film, and the build up is lazily thrown together, skipping from location to location, establishing character to character, and situation to situation, FAR WORSE than when Batman V Superman did it. -Not only that, but the action itself wasn't very good, with the exception of the Wolverine scene, which ironically doesn't even belong in the movie. It was too CGI and cartoony to me, (and not in a good way), and the choreography wasn't too stellar either. -They botched the storyline from the comics worse than any x men movie to date, and they all manage to. I won't go into why, because that would be an essay-length. I could go into more detail as to why this movie is so appalling, but again, we'd be here for far too long, and I'm already tired of talking about it. 5/10 from me. Good day.
Just come back from apocalypse. WOW. I think it's BETTER than DOFP. Fassbender and macevoy "out-act" everyone on the screen. Brilliant performances. But the entire cast is great. Great story, quicksilvers sequence had me grinning from ear to ear. A great movie, and completely agree with your mark.
***** lol, yeh just like she wasnt in the movie hardly in X-Men 1 either, and she was the arnd the same age in that timeline too, which kind of does not makes sense.
well I'm glad that you liked it but I am glad that I watched it on Black Market because the movie was terrible basically it's just a Jennifer Lawrence movie
legopieface Based on this review I COULD see why some may have a problem with it, but at the same time, I think saying it's worse thna Last Stand is A.) Dishonest B.) Destructive C.) Douchy The critics who did the review, Scott Mendelson, is known for being absolutely unfair to the super hero genre. I know critique should give different perspectives on film but when the major one right now is "literally Hitler of cinema" and this is easily taken as fact with very little insight behind it, it's sad and pathetic.
I just rewatched it on Blu-Ray for the first time since seeing it on theaters, which I did only once. The flaws I found the first time are certainly there, but with lowered expectations (as opposed to the unbelievable hype the trailers had set before it was released) I can say I was blown away. This is an amazing movie. Chris is right, once you rewatch with all the movie's little flaws in mind, you can appreciate what they're going for.
+Marin Lepur Well, to be fair, RottenTomatoes does not review movies: They collect and average reviews made by others. So, if a movie has a low Rt score, it is because the majority of movie critics - newspapers, magazines, online, etc - have given it a bad review. JW3HH
Suffer with me, friends, suffer with me! And +Nicholas Doss look at the Captain America action figure in the background. In between his legs some creepy, I don't even know what, peers at us with soulless eyes and an evil leer.
Spoilers!: I actually enjoyed the second one (quicksilver vs. Apocalypse) more than the first one. The first one was cool but it looked soo fake! The one in days of future past looked much more realistic. But that's a problem I had with the movie in general. I stil understand why people really liked the movie but I was really disapointed..
Hating for the sake of hating. It's like the new thing now - to hate on movies. If you don't hate, you are weak or something. Good thing here is someone who can look past that bullshit and see a great movie as it is.
I honestly believe this film was better than civil war. And don't think im biased, i am a huge civil war fanboy, but then i saw this film (a film i actually had very very little interest in) and i enjoyed the hell out of it
I agree. Unfortunately, everything has turned into a "brand war" where fans blindly defend their brand (either Marvel Studios or DC) and attack the other ones, and since this isn't a Marvel Studios production, it's easier to them just to hate it for the sake of hating. I'm not saying everyone should like the movie. There's some valid points made by some people, but I have the impression that some people just want to hate it no matter what. They even call you "fake Marvel fan" if you don't agree with them. I enjoyed both Civil War and Apocalypse.
***** But I remember him putting the video out like 2 months ago because it was around the time Batman v Superman came out and alot of people in the comments were discussing how his review for the film was lower than BvS. Also in another of videos he released weeks ago putting in the comments were saying the same thing that I said that it did come out but it seems he deleted it but I do remember watching the revised review for amazing spiderman 2.
Here's my spoiler-free summary of the plot. *ahem* 95% setup, followed by an villain fight with enough destruction to make Zack Snyder jealous. Still manages to be underwhelming and poorly developed. I'm honestly quite surprised you liked this as much as you did. For me, this was a huge letdown. Some issues I have -- spoilers start here: * Why the hell did they feel they had to give Magneto a family? As soon as they appeared I thought, "Well, they're dead" * HOW his family dies is LAZY. They die BY ACCIDENT. * What point do Angel and Psylocke serve? * How the hell does Angel get METAL wings? * Pretty convenient timing when Quicksilver shows up at the school, right? Semi-cool scene, but convenient as hell. * Did they have to spend so long showing Wolverine pulling those plugs out of his body? * Hell, what point did any of them being captured serve to the plot AT ALL except to bring Wolverine into the movie? * Wasn't Havok killed between First Class and DoFP? I mean, wasn't that his burnt costume that Xavier had? * I get not thinking well when under stress, but firing a weapon you JUST USED TO DESTROY CEREBRO at someone who is LITERALLY HOLDING XAVIER CAPTIVE BESIDE HIM may just rank as one of the dumbest moves an X-Man as ever made. * Did you remember that Storm idolized Mystique? Hope you remembered that clumsy plot point. * Also, seriously, why does En Sabah Nur need ANYONE else? OK, sure, protection, but why have Magneto do the destruction when he quite clearly is capable of doing it himself, and the other three are useless. Storm barely does anything in the fight and only serves as an ex-machina ending. * Anyone not familiar with the comics would be wondering what the hell is up with Jean Grey at the end. Again, it's another instance of ONE line drop at the beginning that suddenly becomes important. * Magneto being Quicksilver's father only serves as a quick way to get him into the story. It honestly has zero bearing on the plot at all. * What happened to his sister, whom we briefly see in DoFP? * Magneto was about 10 when he was in Auschwitz? That would put him in his 50s. Does Fassbender look 50 here? Hell, the only one who looks like they aged appropriately is Quicksilver (yes, I get that Mystique doesn't age normally) * I think Jennifer Lawrence (whom I do usually like) REALLY didn't want to spend any time in makeup. * So En Sabah Nur's plan was to launch the warheads... so they could be deactivated? Why do that when he was going to destroy most of the world anyway? Guess he didn't want things irradiated but launching them seems pointless. * Poor place to have your Stan Lee cameo -- right in the middle of a tense sense get the audience to laugh in recognition. * THAT'S the reason they're giving for the baldness? REALLY? * Despite how much stuff happens, NOTHING really happens besides a bunch of the world being destroyed. Sure, Magneto and Jean rebuild the mansion, but what of all the worldwide destruction. And I thought the two recent Superman films handled their destruction badly.
Re. *8 - Havok had his breastplate thing destroyed in first class, and he was in DoFP when raven went to get the mutant soldiers out. PS.*SPOILERS* Havok's death was pretty predictable if you'd seen the trailers.
Dang. A little savage. I felt really interested and intrigued the whole movie. And I HIGHLY disagree with you comparing it to the Superman Movies, this was AT LEAST 5x better. Was it perfect? Of course not. They have a ways to go, but it was still pretty good.
Xmen 1:7.5/10 Xmen 2:8.1/10 Xmen last stand:6.9/10 Xmen origins:2/10 cus what they did to deadpool Xmen first class:9/10 Xmen days of future past:9/10 Xmen apocalypse:8.9/10
You are the definitive reviewer. You really question other "reviewers" and you make me excited to love movies again. Thank you so much for all of your time and effort sir. It will never be wasted on me. I will always have my ear towards your words.
Too bad that Lawrence doesn't give a shit about the series since she became a bankable star since the first one and yet they appear to give her the central part in this one. I believe that the most interesting part of these movies is the relationship between Eric and Charles, I love every single scene of those two together.
I have not seen it yet. But if we're hating this movie because of the non-stop action and too many characters, what's going to stop us from hating Avengers: Infinity War?
You are very wrong, the reason is because apocalypse was poorly written and paced, while civil war was well paced and had plenty of great action. Those writers and directors for civil war are returning to do Infinity War. Stop acting like you predicted the future. Do me a favor and stop being an xmen fanboy and open your eyes.
X-Men: 9/10 X-Men 2: 10/10 X-Men The Last Stand: 5/10 X-Men First Class: 9/10 X-Men Days of Future Past: 10/10 Wolverine Origins: 3/10 The Wolverine: 7/10 Can't wait to see Apocalypse...
***** yes i do know it takes a lot of time. i'm just a little surprised that he posted a review of x men apocalypse before doing a spoilery in depth review of civil war.
No cuz fück marvel, I say deport all marvel heroes. they are taking the jobs of hard working DC heroes who can't get a break. one stap of an evil neck and instant hate.
+Batman The Superman Killer I love DC and I loved bvs despite all the hate my point is these movies are either Rover hyped or under hyped. only our rating and sales should matter.
+Cheddar Cheese lmao cw was one big fan service, I dont get people I could pick apart all these movies for pretty much the same reason, lmao fan service my ass
FINALLY! A positive one. Perhaps X-Men can go back on my list for anticipated movies again after all. (I scratched it off earlier today, because I gave up on the movie. I didn't want to worry about being in the "minority") Gee, I'm sure looking forward to seeing the type of people who think that it's "cool" to hate this movie.
I completely disagree. It is one of the weakest entries in the franchise by far. This movie had a lot wrong with it. It had a bland boring villain, with yet another big plan to destroy everything and create something else. It also had some bland performances from certain cast members with the exception of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Evan Peters.
@@captainhowlerwilson508 I disagree with you too, well with alot of people here Alot of them are saying Days of future past was better but I felt it to be kinda boring The only fun parts was the quicksilver scene and the final battle But other then that it was a snore fest I'm currently watching apocalypse right now and I feel really intrigued of what will happen next I never felt like that with DoFP
@@SinisterBlitzo9 And I disagree even more. I felt little to no intrigue with Apocalypse that I felt with DOFP, which had the far better story, better effects and better acting overall, compared to this one, which has one of the most boring stories. The only part I found great in Apocalypse was also Quicksilver’s scene. The villain of Apocalypse sucks and was just another big evil bad guy who wants to destroy everything. Whereas the villains in DOFP were far more interesting and had motivation that was understandable.
I love slow building movies and I have really enjoyed the Bryan Singer X-men so I am open to this one. I guess people go into super hero movies expecting a certain formula. Nice to hear people are trying to switch it up.
Strange....most negative reviews I've seen said the first act is the best part of the film, then it falls apart. This is the first positive review I've seen, and he says the first act is a mess, and then it gets great. Oh the confusion.
+TheToonGrump Of course everyone's going to see the movie for themselves and have their own opinions when it comes out in a few weeks....but hearing others opinions is still always interesting. Especially when they're all very different.
people these days focus too much on Rotten Tomatoes to be honest. and RT (who by the way not trying to put anyone down have critics who aren't all PROFESSIONAL critics, sorry not sorry) METACRITIC which i prefer does have certified Pro's! And their scores are usually more in line with what's true. Rotten Tomatoes sometimes just gets it wrong, any who it's too early for these reviews to tell anything. in 2 weeks we shall see what's what, either way i am PUMPED! i can't wait for this movie. #hatersgonnahate
+Arturo Palencia I think people on RT put too much weight into the Tomatometer or whatever it's called. People forget that's merely the weighted percentage of critics who enjoyed it, but there's an actual grade out of 10 that shows to what degree they enjoyed it. For example, Civil War (just an example people, don't read too much into it) has a 90% (at the time of writing) which people might interpret as being a near perfect movie, but the actual score for it is a 7.6/10 on RT (which is also very close to Metacritic's 75/100 score for the same film). TLDR: Don't just look at the meter, look at the average score too, both paint a better picture of the actual rating.
Not gonna lie, this is the review that gave me hope for this movie..I was looking forward to this movie for so long. Now that I've seen it, I actually (almost) hated this movie. I mean you got cool characters here and there like Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and of course Wolverine's moment (oh and Quicksilver)...but they are in a movie I felt so frustrated and annoyed by. THEN to lead up to that final showdown that felt SO tacky and I couldnt even believe when it ended how boring it was...Apocalypse himself though...what a lame character. He spends the entire movie recruiting his Horsemen...when in the end, he didn't need ANY of them. Maybe Magneto but that's it. I hated Apocalypse's "powers"...I hated that line on his face that looked like it kept peeling off. Jennifer Lawrence simply DID NOT want to be there (which made me feel the same). The movie felt like this to me...the ENTIRE 2 1/2 hours is mainly the X-Men recruiting X-Men and Apocalypse recruiting horsemen....eventually, they battle...and its over. The End. BUT...the subplot I got a kick out of, and laughed at...was Jennifer Lawrence not wanting to play Mystique anymore...so they made it part of the story, while everyone is like "oh you're not blue anymore" (Nightcrawler jumps in) "I'M BLUE!"...HAHAHA. then later she FINALLY accepts her contract to return as Mystique in X-Men that she decides to "embrace it" and become blue and by that time, I was like "nobody cares about you Mystique, maybe the last 2 movies but you're pointless here". Professor X I feel bad for...doing a good job the entire movie...all for a piece of shit story. Magneto loses his family that we JUST got intoduced to minutes earlier. I can honestly say Im surprised so many people give THIS a pass but shit ALL OVER Batman v Superman...BvS was very flawed but I atleast had fun and was never bored...got a cool Batman, a dark tone (without being overboard). THIS movie was just FULL OF SHIT and gets a pass. Almost all the problems BvS had, this had in spades....all those people who die in Man of Steel and BvS not talked about that much? Don't worry, they won't even be mentioned in this movie (even though countless thousands, maybe millions perish in this movie)...humans are murdered carelessly and "who cares?". Literally NO emotion in this movie....not to mention (SPOILER)....Magneto losing his family (wait I already spoiled it, like every review I've seen besides this)....don't worry, its not spoiled, because the movie just introduces us to his family while Magneto sings a corny song to his daughter...then less than 20 min later, no more family. All while Magneto cries like "WHY MEEEE? is this WHO I AM?" yes...you are Magneto. This movie was complete garbage actually, the more I think about it, the less I like it. I would give it a D+
Haven't seen Apocalypse but I find it very difficult to believe it's worse than BVS. Theres no way Apocalypse can be a worse villain than Lex Luthor, just no way.
Mark Hazleton honestly, he could have made a Hilariocity out of this one if it weren't such a boring film. As a long-time X-Men fan, I can say it is the worst one yet. I kind of knew Apocalypse was gonna be bad, though, I have a sense about these things. Just like I knew Logan would be the best X-Men movie:D
Chris, congrats to your great Job, i am a Brazilian GUY and i follow your channel for a long time ago... and your inspire me to create my own channel a year ago, and i only wish that you know that ! you are very important in my carrear, so just keep doing your increadible work !!! u are the best man tnks 4all (sry about my english)
Dan Houser It's a reference to Chris' short rewrite of BvS (which I thought was decent) that people hounded him over to the point he's done with it. It's provocative and not even funny anymore.
Thought this was a great film, not perfect. But it perfectly served my favorite comic characters of all time. BUT if you feel it sucked, that's cool. I don't need critics or everyone else to like it. I was satisfied leaving the cinema. 4/5 for me.
+New Generation Monk well, I usually see people that liked BvS complaining about people that disliked it everywhere someone says BvS is bad (as I see people attacking the movie every time the argument "BvS" is mentioned) It's the internet, it's normal xD
+New Generation Monk Very true. I loved the movie. And it's almost always the haters who try their hardest to bate the ones who liked it by calling them fanboys. Like this fuckface.
New Generation Monk Fanboy isn't an offensive term. I get why people liked it. Lots and lots of fan service and fun CGI. I'm not a DC nerd so I disliked it for its poor storytelling. By definition, if you like a movie for fan service and not a good plot, themes or characters, you're a fanboy. That said, I posted this because every time a MARVEL movie gets reviewed well, a slew of people who haven't seen it yet start hating it or the reviewer and start praising a DC movie. It's a ridiculous battle. I want a good DC movie as much as the next person.
This movie was a disaster. No emotional weight to any of it. Where were the humans during all this destruction? JLaw is just the worst in these. Zero personality and clearly couldn't care less about the material given to her which, to be fair, is pretty bad. The young new recruits have very little to say or do. Storm? What was the point. Apocalypse himself was a terrible villain. I have no idea what his end game was. Kill everyone and then.....what? He can make clothes as one of his abilities. That's a thing now. An "A-" for this film is insulting to great films.
You went full Fucktard. Never go full fucktard. No emotional weight?magneto lost his fucking family! There were humans, if you looked you could see. Its seems so cool to follow the crowd and hate on jlaw's performance, she did a good job in this. Honestly i dont even get the hate
Freddy Zepeda Way to keep it classy Freddy. I meant emotional weight of the destruction of Earth. The scene with Magneto was solid albeit a bit odd. Can an arrow from 10 feet away do that much damage 1/2 cocked? JLaw is NOTHING like Mystique and had basically no reason to be in the film other than her star power and did very little. Why would it be "cool" to hate on an actor in a movie? I'll never understand that. She doesn't fit. Neither did Sansa Stark as Jean. X2 and Days of Future Past are fantastic films. This was not. Not even close.
The main problem I can point with this movie is, kind of like what Chris pointed out, it’s pace. This is the 3º movie in this series, we do not need long exposition and introduction to old characters that are at places we already expect (or know) them to be. If this time was expend with Apocalypse and the new members of the team it would be a better use of time and keep us interested. But hands down, the dialogue of the movie was that “I think we can all agree that the third one is always the worst movie”. :D
Dude thank you for this. I was on the fence about this film after reading the reviews. But now you got me interested in the film again. Thanks for the reviews. Peace.
Chris, you really are the king of reviewing things. You've got depth bro, and the only reviewer I really trust on this site because of the way you express yourself. This movie is worth seeing a second time, because as you said, "It then becomes rich."
The good: Magneto scene in the forest, characters like Quicksilver, Cyclops, and Jean Grey The bad: inferior development of the villian (his intentions, his characterisation and also his dialogue was all lacking), the main action was unimpressive (felt like it shouldn't be the climax of the film), the four horsemen of the apocalypse had barely anything to do during the film, given no sorry line and terrible lines. It had a lot of flaws. I love X Men but it could have been a lot better.
+Alana McConnell i also thought the motivations for them switching sides were kinda underdeveloped :/ like magneto just needed a pep talk? yeah kinda tired of the generic evil blue guy in marvel movies, i thought the script needed more rewrites to explain to motivations of the characters better especially villains.
so i just saw the movie and i dont what people are complaining about. Srsly this movie was beyond awesome. It was almost on pair with civil war but thats a near perfect movie to me. Quicksilver in this movie is so incredible, i honestly dont know how dc can top him. Its the best x men movie i have ever seen for me
I don't understand why critics are hating this movie just because the villain was "cliched" and the action was "overloaded" aren't those 2 elements in every single MCU film? I mean, Thor 2 (66%) and Iron Man 2 (72%fresh) have the shittiest villains in the MCU, but somehow are able to get a pass on that on RT, but because X-Men Apocalypse isn't part of the MCU it seems to get hated for the dumbest reasons. "It's predictable" "the villain is cliched" "there's too much action at the end" I mean, really?! Seriously?! Avengers 1 and 2 were literally the same movie, but no one bats an eye. People say Age of Ultron sucked and yet it has 75% fresh on RT. I liked Civil War a lot, but I think it's a bit overrated at this point. I mean, people are only talking about the airport scene and nothing else. I guess that's the only thing people find memorable about it. BVS was a fucking mess, no doubt about that, but I don't think it deserves a 27% on RT from an entertainment standpoint. Deserves around 40 to 45% in my opinion. So, the real question is... are the critics riding the MCU's dick too hard at this point?
+jillvlantine You do know that Rotten Tomatoes is actually owned by Warner Bros, who alongside DC were behind BVS? Also they do not review the films, the reviews are written by external journalists and all RT does is collect them to aggregate them into a percentage of those who like it, the average rating and a verbal consensus based on the common opinion(s). About the cliche villains, I would more say it depends on which individual MCU films are being highlighted, there are crap ones like Whiplash, Ultron, Yelllowjacket and Malekith, but there are some good ones like The Winter Solider, Alexander Pearce, Loki and Zemo. As for action-heavy finales, I think for many it depends how well the individuals within the audience are put into the perspectives of the characters involved, if the film has done a good job at emerging the audience into the character, then the action is enthralling, if not than its little more than dead weight. I have admittedly not watch X-Men: Apocalypse yet (I plan to though this weekend), so I will not say whether Stuckmann (even though I hope to god Stuckmann is right about this movie because I beleive that First Class and especially Days of Future Past are two of the best comic book movies I have ever seen) or the other critics are right or wrong yet, but this is just some of my two-cents on this situation.
+MegaDragonslayer1997 is the hype the critics put in , they all hype so high when BVS trailer come out , I was calm my fanboy self down when I watch these trailer , but most of the critics out there just hype the shit out of them
Keemo Theraphy Your argument about Quicksilver is stupid. It's a superhero genre film. Physics are meant to be broken. But I bet you don't say anything when you see Captain America's shield disobey the laws of physics. Just proves my point further that people start nitpicking everything that isn't a film produced by Marvel. And you're really complaining about how generic the villain is? aren't we all too used to seeing generic villains in superhero films? so why is it suddenly a huge problem when it comes to this film? OH, that's right... because it's a Fox Film. We're so used to seeing Marvel getting away with it that we actually expect something completely original from other superhero genre films that aren't made by Disney. And that's why they get criticized so harshly.
Finally a positive review!! I am really looking forward to it. I do wish there was more Wolverine in it. I know there is a cameo, but I want more than that. DoFP was so awesome. I hope the next movie isn't another "we have to save the world" type. I mean honestly, my favorite scene in all the X-Movies is in X2 when the mansion is invaded. Its humans vs mutants. It was perfect.
I am probably going to get slaightered for this, but honestly Apocalypse to me was the best villain since Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. I wish there was a little more backstory behind him, like small montage from his childhood or something. I really thought he was a great character! I thought there was some depth to him. I love how he was just absorbing worlds history and feeling its not what he hoped he wanted it to be. I thought there was some great character build up to him. He wasn't rushed or anything. IM LOOKING AT YOU ULTRON. Chris, I don't get whats not to understand about him. Oscar Isaac played him so amazingly
Sherhan Mahmud , this wasn’t apocalypse, it was more Ivan ooze from power rangers , apocalypse is way more menacing, intellectually and physically. He’s gone toe to toe with groups of x men , comics are much better
@@aarontwenty7 i felt they should have made the apocalypse fight longer and more epic like the thanos fights. it felt for me he was far too easy to beat
@@martinr6201 I thought it could have played out better if Jean had been the one in the mind palace getting pummelled by Apocalypse, each blow a taunt to Charles. But, in Apocalypse's arrogance, he fails to see that Charles wasn't his biggest threat as a bruised and battered Jean unleashes. The whole part where she unleashed felt too easy.
The reviews for this movie have been so over the place I trust Chris so I'll go into this movie with high expectations since Bryan Singer hasn't made a bad xmen movie yet
What's about Psylocke's whip that cut everything even a concrete but not Beast's neck? I fully appreciate your thought but damn... there are a lot more nonsense stuffs than you think in this film.
It seems like when a character is not meant to die, nothing can kill them. (Spoilers, for you reading comments before having seen the movie yet) For instance, Apocalypse could have cut Mystique's neck in the blink of an eye, but no. He rather decided let her die from suffocation, and he failed on that.
The more I think about this film...the more I question or dislike. For instance....why was Psylocke even needed? OR Angel...weren't they just a bit useless for someone like APOCALYPSE who is almighty and has just about every power.
Its that typical means to an end. Its like that annoying trope where a super villain has goons that fight the heroes and he says... "today is not the day for our battle" then he disappears lol. It's basically just to fill screen time because of a poor script usually that lacks substance.
håvard Helgesen I'm wondering if she thinks she's too good to sit in that make up chair anymore. To me, it takes away from her character as Mystique. this is a mutant who was proud of who she was. Maybe they'll get to that point.
I'm glad there's everyone else here that likes this movie like myself, this is awesome. Apocalypse is *not* the best movie (X-Men Origins is the only worst one I saw, come on) but it's still like all the X-Men films that we know to love. Unlike whenever Spider-Man & other Sony Marvel movies are at their worst, whenever some X-Men movies are at their worst by comparison, at least they have themes & much more likable characters.
I liked his reviews very much and i trust him but look at the other reviews, Schmoes or Collider, their reviews aren't as bad as RT but they are certainly not putting it as good as Chris
X-Men: 8.5/10 (B+) X2 X-Men United 9.5/10 (A) X-Men The Last Stand 4/10 (F) X-Men Origins Wolverine 5.5/10 (D-) X-Men First Class 9.5/10 (A) The Wolverine 8.5/10 (B+) Days of Future Past 10/10 (A+) Deadpool 10/10 (A+) Have not seen Apocalypse, but seeing how, after reading reviews, you really liked it, I will see it in theaters and not wait.
Allan Alberts Thanks. I was really excited for this, seeing Deadpool and Days of Future Past and X-2 are some of my favorite comic book films of all time.
***** It was an entertaining film, but they messed up an amazing storyarche called Dark Phoenix Chronicles. They did a terrible job adapting it which made it bad. Still entertaining, but doesn't mean it's good. Origins Wolverine had a great 1st act, but dropped on quality, but the first act is why it is better than X-3.
***** They ruined a comic book, story arche called Dark Phornix Chronicles, which a lot of us loved the story arche, and they did a terrible job adapting it.
***** Indianna Jones 4 wasn't terrible, but extremely disappointing. Star Sars Prequels, same thing, but ROTS was very good. Spiderman 3 just had too many characters and plots to cover, that it eventually got messy and just wasn't great, not bad, but not great. Spiderman 3 was just an average movie.
It's nowhere near as bad as critics are saying it is, here's how I'd rank the movies 1: X-Men: First Class 2: X2: X-Men United 3: Deadpool 4: X-Men: Days Of Future Past 5: X-Men: Apocalypse 6: The Wolverine 7: X-Men 8: X-Men: The Last Stand 9: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
actually I think its FAR worse than what the critics are saying. I actually felt like critics are giving this 1 a pass. I've seen all the movies since 2000, and this is up there with The Last Stand, maybe even worse considering I ATLEAST had some fun with The Last Stand, this one here is just a shitfest (besides 1 or 2 kinda cool scenes...and that involves cameos basically).
Watching this review years later because I just saw this movie for the first time. I’m with you on this; I thought this was an excellent film that, while not without some minor issues here or there, did a great job balancing out a lot of material. Also gonna go out on a limb and assume the scene you were super excited about but didn’t want to spoil was the scene I had no idea was even going to be in the movie but was extremely happy to see. Currently watching reviews on this now because I’m trying to piece together why this movie was so poorly received. It felt more like a mature adult version of the 90’s cartoon than at least most of the X-Men films that came out before it, and with very well-executed storytelling and acting.
I respectfully disagree this time Chris.
(*full spoilers below*)(Just an opinion of course)
+超粒方 the part where angel became an apocalypse minion was so fucking Metal
SPOILERS
.
Storm turned against Apocalypse because he tried to kill her "hero"? O_ o.. That's what I think. I also believe Raven got to Megneto XD ..!
+I am Cheshire i know, right?... i think someone was distracted when seeing the movie xD
They are building Jean Greys character
the quick silver scene, omg my whole theater, everyone loved that so much
honestly it was hilarious beat scene ever that and also weapon x's cameo was amazing to this was honestly my favorite x men movie to date
it was good but kinda got old.
+Mark Hazleton how lol

EXACTLY!
+blaze vigil A- is a passing grade if I ever saw one.
I entered this review nervous because of Chris's thumbnail.
I agree with him on most things but I've also disagreed on other things too.
I like the movie honestly. I just hate all the origin stories on top of origin stories.
+Mark Hazleton lmao
***** Weird ass profile pic. U got probs bro.
bruh, comment of the year 🤣🤣
The good:
-Magneto's story
-The acting chops especially of McAvoy and Fassbender
-SWEET special effects
-Wolverine cameo
-Quicksilver scene
-PHOENIX
-Surprisingly gratuitously violent/bloody for a PG-13 movie
The Bad:
-Apocalypse didn't do a whole lot
-Movie could have been avoided if Moira covered up the entrance with the rug??
-Quicksilver doesn't confront magneto
-Jarring shift between funny quicksilver scene and Alex's death
-Age dif between magneto and quicksilver doesn't line up?
-Mystique got psylocke's powers when she attacked apocalypse at the end??
-The fact that magneto still can't have a family and still uses anger/rage as a catalyst for his actions
yeah i 100% agree with everything you said. mcavoy and fassbender are the best things about this (and let's be honest, every) x- men movie
Cant mystice use people's powers she did that in the originals
wut. Mystique used a sword, not psylocks powers
4.8/10
Burger King I gave it about the same score, Plus a few extra points to Psylocke for being sexy as fuck
Nirai Paku
Damn right she was. Those legs!!
I guess the critics are really getting superhero movie fatigue. The movie is great or at least decent if you wish. Quicksilver is awesome, it has great action, great comedy, the new X-men are good replacements, Magneto's scene in the forest is impressive...
+Arturo Lares Totally agree with u
+Hypnotico89 that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
+Hypnotico89 you're actually so stupid
i loved the movie... i am surprised with the critics too. i guess critics are reviewing it off the back of DOFP and civil war. this movie was really good and i cant wait for the next movie
+veryserioz Family I think is the message?
X:Men First Class-Great
X:Men Days of Future Past-Amazing
X:Men Apocalypse-Ok
The Man XX X-men dark Phoenix awful
@@saatvikmaddineni7496 Better than Apocalypse at least.
I wonder how most ppl view X2
Perfect grading.
sdrawecw09 No, Apocalypse is superior.
X-men: 7.5/10
X-2: 9/10
X-men 3: 4/10
X-men first class: 8.5/10
X-men Days of future past: 9/10
X-men apocalypse: 8/10
+Aldo El Apache
Yes, perfect. I agree completely.
+animator1982 how much do you rate the wolverine movies?
+Amer Amodi
I would give the first Wolverine a 4/10
And the second Wolverine a 5/10
+animator1982 yeah.. either wasnt really good
+animator1982 The wolverine movies haha they are horrible
I found this film to be quite average. It was ok.
This film was worse than X Men 3 for me.
+Deandre Pocu are you 12?
Completely agree
I've seen plenty of enjoyable average flicks...this was shit.
Stuckmann has lost perspective. He got attention from the studios and now holds back critical analysis in order to stay in their good graces. I've seen it happen many times. They get invited to events, screeners etc and then feel bad about giving the movie a poor review.

+Donaldo Trumpiwi oh yeeeaahhh...lol
Ditto

+Mike Mok Those reviews are a bit unfair. I would put this on the same level as Avengers AOU.
+Thomas 94 so is a regular to bad movie in that case?

I dare say that's SLLLLAAAAAAAMMMMMIIIIINNNN!!!
+Italo Barbosa spoiler.... you try too hard.
Not as bad as Nicole Arbor with the power of being the worst human being alive.
+Italo Barbosa Nah ....Neil Breen is a supreme being who comes to earth on a glass paperweight.... ;)
What happened there?
yep. first third was nice, after that. lol refuns plz
Oh look. I has found a huge trolls. Would you like for me to find you a bridge of live under?
I'd like to know, if chris still. has the same grade for this film.
@@NeoConnor1 He rarely posts updated reviews, though
Justin Garza because he rarely changes his mind much.
@@joefellasleep Exactly, that's my point, I'm not disagreeing. But the guy I replied to makes it seem as if Chris has done this a number of times. Even though, I only remember he did that for Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood

+navylaks2 i think she is fine as Mystique
Glad that you have your own views, Chris. You are actually patient and give your own opinions, not caring about whether people disagree with you or not. Respect man.
Thank god for guys like Chris Jeremy jahns and the schmoes know ect on UA-cam because they feel like real people unlike some critics
+Timliu92 You seem pretty biased yourself.
Timliu92 But it seems like you're saying all other reviews are not honest just because they disagree with your hopes.
The critics are wrong. This movie kicks ass.

The entire movie came off as a complete average to me--for every good scene, there's an utterly terrible one.
And the writing in this movie, man. Horrendous tick box of cliches. The effects were really poor too, but they didn't really matter to me as much as the flat narrative.
The Quicksilver scene, for instance. Him turning up at that moment was too much of a coincidence, though the scene itself was ridiculously enjoyable.
And when Quicksilver started punching him I was like "please, don't do this shit" but then they fixed it. and that Wolverine scene felt just like fanservice
kind of like DOFP? I was more entertained by this one honestly
Could you possibly troll any harder?
You can't imagine how happy it makes me that you actually like this movie, too. I saw it yesterday, already having in my head that so many critics didn't like it. And I came out and I was like "What the hell is their problem". It feels so good to not be alone in this matter. Thank you Chris :))
Nowadays. Many people now know the problems with this movie.
"Is this movie as good as Days of Future Past?" I actually think that First Class is A LOT better than this film.
Definitely agreed...... Personally I love First Class a tid bit more than Future Past
@@adarshtiwari7395 Unpopular Opinion: First Class, The Wolverine and Logan are my favourite Fox X-Men Movies
yeah 100%,, first class felt like a character study of both charles and erik, whereas dofp and apocalypse felt like big budget action movies with elements of character development
@@chasingstars4 Agree. That's why First Class is truly amazing IMO, and is the best Fox X-Men movie alongside The Wolverine and Logan.
@@sodium285 yeah, agreed
+Limo Maker I know that the original 3 X-Men movies are basically obsolete because of DOFP.
yeah Jennifer Lawrence didnt even bother me at all the last 2 movies...but this time...she was just pathetic. Her role atleast...and she LOOKED like she didn't want to be there. Then again this movie has so many problems and shity flaws that I just think this movie plain sucked.
6,5/10
Pros: Quicksilver
Fassbender and McAvoy
Jean Grey
Cons: Jennifer Lawrence
Psylocke
Second act is a mess
exactly what i was thinking
***** It would be more awesome if the trailers hadn't shown it.
Pros I agree with...
Cons I agree with...only I think there is a MUCH longer list for Cons to the point I'd give the movie a 3/10. Not kidding.
what's wrong with Jennifer Lawrence?
Houston Spoon she doesnt care about these movies anymore and you can tell with her bored look on her face the whole movie. and just because she is "in" now they decide to make her the main character and that just doesnt work
I don't agree with the critics. The movie was fuckin' A. Even though I want FOX to give the rights back to MARVEL. After watching the movie, I kinda think FOX is good at X-Men. Just don't fuck it up like FANT4STIC!
+HHH i just saw it too, and I will give it an A too!!
Thanks god Marvel doesn't have their rights, the movie would have been less violent and with bad jokes.
Tricko8000 how much more if deadpool is in mcu right? it would be horrible
+Tricko8000 Except if Marvel did have it they'd do it right and stop butchering characters. It wouldn't be less violent just fucking watch Daredevil for fucks sake.
+Undead_Belphegor all marvel movies are family friendly its pathetic
Saw this today and I agree completely! I thought it was amazing, but the beginning hat to set up a lot. Don't understand all the hate it's getting.

No
Chris is slipping. More promises of what to come than results. Bad, Chris! Bad! :)

I'm still waiting for his ' Room (2015)' Review!
+Leo Nah, me too bro haha

Chris, did EVERYTHING THEY BUILT FALL!!?
And from the ashes of their world, they built a better one?
Did they forget everything they knew?
+Jmoney18123 But wait. Were they acually lost because they followed blind leaders?
+Walter Shmitty Are they no longer students?
Did the bible get the idea for the four horsemen from Apocalypse?
Forget the Film Critics! You give us fans the good, bad, and worst about all these popular films, and don't hold back at all. Also I like how you don't blow up about things unlike most film reviewers.
Yesssss!
Also the way he described the good and the bad about X-Apocalypse was very identical to how other youtuber's have described the film after seeing it, same awesomeness here, and same problem here.
this movie was awesome! it really was incredible and probably the best x men movie for me. I dont know how people can hate it
+Max Krampe Friend I agree and they even said it metaphorically in the movie, after getting out of the cinemas.
Good day.

Xmen: 6
Xmen 2: 8
Xmen 3: 5
Origins: 6
The wolverine: 6.5
Past:
Xmen first class: 8
Xmen days of future past: 9
Xmen apocalypse: 8.5
You like origins just as much as first one? You high?
pffttt, Apocalypse better than 2??? it's not even better than 1
Is it really better than first class?
+oxXBLADEZXxo stop hating
Tyler Crebs I can't hate a shit movie? Damn
+glyph2011 More actions scenes than DOFP but not as good, just behind Id say, but still way better than X-3
+glyph2011 I agree. I loved it. CG was off at times (that doesn't annoy me too much) and Jubilee kinda wasn't in the movie
Forbes review: *_LITERALLY WORSE THAN HITLER_*
Stuckman: Fuck 'em this shit was fire.
I don't always agree with you, but I like you.
+Nazrat84 You can tell "Critics" are just going to shit on this film because that's the general consensus regarding Fox.
legopieface Based on this review I COULD see why some may have a problem with it, but at the same time, I think saying it's worse thna Last Stand is
A.) Dishonest
B.) Destructive
C.) Douchy
The critics who did the review, Scott Mendelson, is known for being absolutely unfair to the super hero genre.
THANK YOU. The insanely high expectations for this movie could destroy any movie's chances
Tell this review to Zod's snapped neck!

Move on already

Enough.
+WolverinesNation92 old joke is too old
Screw Rotten Tomatoes and other critics, listen to Chris Stuckmann
He and jahns are the only crítics that matters...
+Marin Lepur Well, to be fair, RottenTomatoes does not review movies: They collect and average reviews made by others. So, if a movie has a low Rt score, it is because the majority of movie critics - newspapers, magazines, online, etc - have given it a bad review.
JW3HH
+1997residente Yeah
+JustWasted3HoursHere You're right, Rotten Tomatoes should not be taken seriously, only what matters are our opinions
That teddy bear dog thing peeking out from in between Captain America's legs is creepy 0-0

Thanks now I can't stop looking at it
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ?!?!?
Oh shit that is sinister
Suffer with me, friends, suffer with me!
And +Nicholas Doss look at the Captain America action figure in the background. In between his legs some creepy, I don't even know what, peers at us with soulless eyes and an evil leer.
I'd give it a C+. I was really disapointed...
But that Quicksilver scene was freaking awesome!
Spoilers!:
I actually enjoyed the second one (quicksilver vs. Apocalypse) more than the first one. The first one was cool but it looked soo fake! The one in days of future past looked much more realistic. But that's a problem I had with the movie in general. I stil understand why people really liked the movie but I was really disapointed..
I gave it a B- but I think this one can go either way depending on how many things you personally can look the other way at.
C+ is WAY too high for me...well not much higher but I give it a D+
+Mark Hazleton C-
Thank You ! Chris , love your reviews cause you never put out any spoilers and i appreciate that .
I'm gonna watch this movie because of your review Chris. I'm glad some people like it.
Your review gives me hope. The early reviews were starting to make me worried. Thanks, Chris!
+CrayCrayBroBro SAME! Makes me all excited again!
Hating for the sake of hating. It's like the new thing now - to hate on movies. If you don't hate, you are weak or something.
Good thing here is someone who can look past that bullshit and see a great movie as it is.
I honestly believe this film was better than civil war. And don't think im biased, i am a huge civil war fanboy, but then i saw this film (a film i actually had very very little interest in) and i enjoyed the hell out of it
+Freddy Zepeda felt the same damn way
+Etchn Man nice to see im not alone on this
X-Men Apocalypse was way better than Civil War. Civil War was way too overrated.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 revised review?!?
Ikr !!!!!!!
Could've sworn he released weeks ago but I think he deleted it because I remember seeing it my subscription videos.
+Crazyboyinc Who cares? He is just going to say it sucks and how great Raimi's first two films were. I think we should just move alone.
+Sam Garcia he only does it once a month so he DEFINTLY didn't do it
Here's my spoiler-free summary of the plot. *ahem*
95% setup, followed by an villain fight with enough destruction to make Zack Snyder jealous. Still manages to be underwhelming and poorly developed.
I'm honestly quite surprised you liked this as much as you did. For me, this was a huge letdown.
Some issues I have -- spoilers start here:
* Why the hell did they feel they had to give Magneto a family? As soon as they appeared I thought, "Well, they're dead"
* HOW his family dies is LAZY.
Hell, the only one who looks like they aged appropriately is Quicksilver (yes, I get that Mystique doesn't age normally)
* I think Jennifer Lawrence (whom I do usually like) REALLY didn't want to spend any time in makeup.
Joeey G I never made that connection; probably should have. Thanks!
No worries
an idiot you are
Dang. A little savage. I felt really interested and intrigued the whole movie. And I HIGHLY disagree with you comparing it to the Superman Movies, this was AT LEAST 5x better. Was it perfect? Of course not. They have a ways to go, but it was still pretty good.

But if we're hating this movie because of the non-stop action and too many characters, what's going to stop us from hating Avengers: Infinity War?
thanos
You are very wrong, the reason is because apocalypse was poorly written and paced, while civil war was well paced and had plenty of great action. Those writers and directors for civil war are returning to do Infinity War. Stop acting like you predicted the future. Do me a favor and stop being an xmen fanboy and open your eyes.
***** I'm a MCU fanboy and I hope you're right.

where's our civil war spoiler review?
nobody cares
+jessica jones you know how much editing goes into videos like these? He's not a reaction channel, he can only do so much

it really is better then the CRITICS are saying honestly can we stop using them for judges on super hero movies and just use ourselves.
No cuz fück marvel, I say deport all marvel heroes. they are taking the jobs of hard working DC heroes who can't get a break. one stap of an evil neck and instant hate.
+Batman The Superman Killer I love DC and I loved bvs despite all the hate my point is these movies are either Rover hyped or under hyped. only our rating and sales should matter.

these are made for comic fans
Whats yours? Dumbass
This review has restored my faith in seeing this movie. Thanks Chris!
I loved this movie and can't wait to see the Dark Phoenix Saga, and hopefully done right this time!
Rogue Two oohhh ....
@Rogue Two: I wonder if you’re still saying that.
Lol
oof
Boy Rogue Two will u be disappointed.
I really did love this movie. It was honestly my favorite X-Men movie to date.
can't agree more
I completely disagree.
@@captainhowlerwilson508 I disagree with you too, well with alot of people here
Alot of them are saying Days of future past was better but I felt it to be kinda boring
The only fun parts was the quicksilver scene and the final battle
But other then that it was a snore fest
I'm currently watching apocalypse right now and I feel really intrigued of what will happen next
I never felt like that with DoFP
Maybe this movie is like Man of Steel. Very contrasting reviews
Maybe this movie is like Man of Steel. Very contrasting reviews
It's almost like you need to see the movie for yourself to decide.
#hatersgonnahate
i trust imdb over RT any day
true
I've never paid attention to what critics say. I don't give a diddly squat about their opinions. That's why I have my own!
+Jarrett Freeney then why are you on a critic's video sharing his opinion
I saw it, and Lex Luthor is worse by far.
I agree but I was more bored in BvS than this
totally agree, worst xmen movie.

Are you gonna do a Civil War spoiler talk?
Tell that to Apocalypse's snapped neck!
Dude, really?
+Alexander McKnight It's a reference to Man of Steel.
+Alexander McKnight aka not really a spoiler
Dan Houser It's a reference to Chris' short rewrite of BvS (which I thought was decent) that people hounded him over to the point he's done with it. It's provocative and not even funny anymore.
hilarious...
Thought this was a great film, not perfect. But it perfectly served my favorite comic characters of all time. BUT if you feel it sucked, that's cool. I don't need critics or everyone else to like it. I was satisfied leaving the cinema. 4/5 for me.
Deadpool: A+
Civil War: A+
Apocalypse: A-
Dawn of Justice: C+
Angry Fanboys are acoming
New Generation Monk It's not remotely great.
This is refreshing. Good to hear you liked it. Faith renewed!

+Rafa A I never said that there was something wrong with him giving his opinion. I'm giving mine.
Feud Nation sucks. He hates on every movie
Tr3Tr 3 Haha, okay buddy. If you watched my show you would know that's bs.
And the dialogue was truth it was the worst in this series.
why am I unsubscribed to this channel and many others. I know for a fact I subscribed to them. UA-cam is drunk again
Dude thank you for this. I was on the fence about this film after reading the reviews. But now you got me interested in the film again. Thanks for the reviews. Peace.
Are we going to talk about how Alex literally died and Hank and Mystique had no emotional reaction.
Or when mystique and quick silver see the X men plane crash and think everyone died yet don’t give a shit 😂
Chris, you really are the king of reviewing things. You've got depth bro, and the only reviewer I really trust on this site because of the way you express yourself. This movie is worth seeing a second time, because as you said, "It then becomes rich."
The good: Magneto scene in the forest, characters like Quicksilver, Cyclops, and Jean Grey
The bad: inferior development of the villian (his intentions, his characterisation and also his dialogue was all lacking), the main action was unimpressive (felt like it shouldn't be the climax of the film), the four horsemen of the apocalypse had barely anything to do during the film, given no sorry line and terrible lines.
It had a lot of flaws. I love X Men but it could have been a lot better.
+Alana McConnell i also thought the motivations for them switching sides were kinda underdeveloped :/ like magneto just needed a pep talk?
yeah kinda tired of the generic evil blue guy in marvel movies, i thought the script needed more rewrites to explain to motivations of the characters better especially villains.
yeah. hard to not compare to cap 3 as well. alot of the action and cgi just felt cheesy and cartoony
yeah. hard to not compare to cap 3 as well. alot of the action and cgi just felt cheesy and cartoony.
I personally thought Apocalypse had some great dialogue.
so i just saw the movie and i dont what people are complaining about. Srsly this movie was beyond awesome. It was almost on pair with civil war but thats a near perfect movie to me. Quicksilver in this movie is so incredible, i honestly dont know how dc can top him. Its the best x men movie i have ever seen for me
And they metaphorically said the same in the movie, with a reference to The Last Stand. I really liked it, while they weren't annoying. Great actors.
+Max Krampe DC is royally fucked at this point if Suicide Squad doesnt work
Jericho Strayker thats true tho. Iam a huge dc fan but i cant get excited for justice league. I hope it doesnt suck
glad you liked it...I thought it was trash.
Mark Hazleton BVS was trash
I like how, at 0:11, Captain America's shield seems to look like a part of Angel's wing on the poster
Glad to see a big critic disagree with everyone else. :)
Disney owns rotten tomatoes and having critics sucking their dicks
MegaDragonslayer1997 thank you. I swear everyone is a Disney fanboy
Ronan the accuser was a much better villain than apocalypse
The reviews for this movie have been so over the place I trust Chris so I'll go into this movie with high expectations since Bryan Singer hasn't made a bad xmen movie yet
I have a feeling that in a few years this flick will be cited as one of the best.
The only two reviews that I care about and trust: yours and Jeremy's. You gave me hope 🙏🏻
Agree with everything chris said. Not sure what the hell the critics are talking about.
What's about Psylocke's whip that cut everything even a concrete but not Beast's neck? I fully appreciate your thought but damn... there are a lot more nonsense stuffs than you think in this film.
I thought I was the only person who noticed that. made no sense. it was an ok movie tho
It seems like when a character is not meant to die, nothing can kill them.
(Spoilers, for you reading comments before having seen the movie yet)
For instance, Apocalypse could have cut Mystique's neck in the blink of an eye, but no.
@@mhaze210 Probably because in the comics Angel and Psylocke are also on his team at first but they eventually turn against him.
My problem is Mystique walking around looking like a normal human for the majority of the movie.
doesnt look like jennifer lawrence even cares about this franchise anymore
håvard Helgesen I'm wondering if she thinks she's too good to sit in that make up chair anymore.
I thought it was terrible.
Jean's Phoenix felt like an asspull.
Yes this is bad film
That ending though with the “forget everything you know” scene I was cringing sooooooo hard 😂
Stuckmann: A-
RT: Around 43%
Hmm. Was going to skip it. But I trust Chris. So why not eh?
I liked his reviews very much and i trust him but look at the other reviews, Schmoes or Collider, their reviews aren't as bad as RT but they are certainly not putting it as good as Chris
+Kevin Zambrano like*
He gave Dark Knight Rises an A+ though...
+SlothGiraffe because The Dark Knight Rises was a great conclusion to the trilogy.
+Kevin Zambrano True and honestly, the film still doesn't look very good to me. But I'll wait Jeremy to review. I trust him as well.
You rate this an A- but Infinity wars a B+ ?
You say that like it’s a bad thing lol
This movie sucked
Eddie House Nah, this movie was overall good.
@@Exosphere._ yes but infinity war is a masterpiece
Nathan Campbell infinity war is great, but a masterpiece is a BIG stretch lol
Glad to know that Chris liked it,going to the midnight screening soon and I can't wait.
i liked this movie wasnt perfect but was good
X-Men: 8.5/10 (B+)
X2 X-Men United 9.5/10 (A)
X-Men The Last Stand 4/10 (F)
X-Men Origins Wolverine 5.5/10 (D-)
X-Men First Class 9.5/10 (A)
The Wolverine 8.5/10 (B+)
Days of Future Past 10/10 (A+)
Deadpool 10/10 (A+)
Have not seen Apocalypse, but seeing how, after reading reviews, you really liked it, I will see it in theaters and not wait.
***** They ruined a comic book, story arche called Dark Phornix Chronicles, which a lot of us loved the story arche, and they did a terrible job adapting it.
deadpool doesn't really count, is like an individual project
***** Indianna Jones 4 wasn't terrible, but extremely disappointing. Star Sars Prequels, same thing, but ROTS was very good. Spiderman 3 just had too many characters and plots to cover, that it eventually got messy and just wasn't great, not bad, but not great. Spiderman 3 was just an average movie.
It's nowhere near as bad as critics are saying it is, here's how I'd rank the movies
1: X-Men: First Class
2: X2: X-Men United
3: Deadpool
4: X-Men: Days Of Future Past
5: X-Men: Apocalypse
6: The Wolverine
7: X-Men
8: X-Men: The Last Stand
9: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
I still hate that Mystique is in the X-Men though, fuck that
+4za o
actually I think its FAR worse than what the critics are saying.
Are critics not allowed to have an opinion? You can't just say they are wrong.
+Mark Hazleton
Where's the Amazing Spider-Man 2 updated review?
+Kristian Pitts Agreed and the Captain America 1990 hilariocity review
Jacob Duran he said this Sunday on his Twitter page for the hiliariocity
Kristian Pitts Oh I thought it was this past weekend
