I think it's actually a lot more complicated than that. I think it's too simplistic to just say that Good and evil are completely subjective. And depending on your perspective, what's good might be evil and vice versa. And I also think it's way too simplistic to think that there's some sort of objective hard definition of what is good and evil like many religions propose. Instead, I think that the best analysis of Good and evil that we can get would be to understand what not only our purpose as a species is but the purpose of all living organisms and compare how a thing aligns with that. For example, the most basic purpose of all living organisms is simply to survive Defining good as how congruent something is with this most basic purpose and evil with how discorded it is with this purpose gives us an interesting marrying of both objective and subjective perspectives on morality. We obviously still have these subjective perspective of. Does this thing align with a individual's purpose, but we have an actual objective purpose anchor to. I think this gives us a better framework than simply saying it's subjective in the sense that it's a matter of opinion and one person can just decide that they think something is evil and then therefore too then it is. It's still a matter of perspective when a leopard kills an antelope. It is in harsh discord with the antelopes purpose of trying to survive, but in agreement with the leopards an action like that isn't really good or evil because it balances out from the perspective of an antelope. It's obviously not good and from with perspective of the leopard it is, but I don't think that things like that which so perfectly balance out have a moral designation they just just simply are. Where we start getting into things that can be actually defined as good or evil would be actions that don't align with either parties, primary purpose. Also I'm driving right now from Florida to Pennsylvania and just using voice to text to talk to my phone and I'm starting to lose my and train of thought. So I'm going to just sign off right here and hope that there aren't too many typos that make this unreadable.
Hahahahah not unreadable at all. I think you bring a great perspective to the discussion. It's interesting to see the correlation between Leopard and Antelope because also in my perspective you can say that in the leopard's mind it is only doing what is right to themselves. Leopards need to eat to live, so therefore they kill, and live their purpose to survive. It's such a n interesting conversation, I don't think there is a right or wrong. Just like you said. The only thing we can do is try our best to do good in our own right, and also try to put ourselves in other shoes to get their understanding as well. Enjoy the sunny state!
Good video 👍
Thank you! Glad to hear
