    Miyazaki is like Tarantino, they say they’ll retire but they literally seem like they never will (Tarantino has yet to release movie 10 yet and once upon a time in Hollywood was almost 6 years ago). But seeing how long boy and the heron took after wind rises (10 years). Idk if the movie will be finished before he passes away

    Such an interesting video. I have always avoided, Anime, with questionable 'themes' like the ones you mention. I also, as a teen, a) didn't like, and b) didn't understand the 'tentacle' stuff! Like why? Even Laputa - Castle in the Sky, (my favourite anime) my kids when watching it, asked me how old Sheeta is, I said, "About 13", to which we all agreed was weird as the sky pirates fawning over her, are likely no younger than early 20s. One has a hipster beard. There is a tolerance of this in Japan, especially in older anime. It could be to do with the fact that their age of consent was woefully too young at 13 years old, until 2023! Its now 16. As a parent, that is still too young!

    • @yapWithJordyn
      @yapWithJordyn 2 дні тому

      @@Thunderpuddle I learned that they changed the age of consent when I was doing this video!! Insane to think it was so young up until so recently! And yes there is a lot of normalization for things that are pretty odd. Even another Ghibli movie called “Up on the Poppy Hill” is very incestual and really off putting! Stuff like that gets you canceled in America immediately… and for good reason! It’s not like adding these weird things to the films/ shows makes it a better show

    "I can quit any time I want! I've already quit 4 times!" I think the reality is the guy just gets stressed out from his job and wants to stop, then he heads off to his retirement life of just sitting around and having nothing to do but watch TV full of things he disapproves of like a grumpy old man then goes out of his mind with boredom and wants to do something again so he goes back to work.

    Last October, I went on a cruise in Croatia with friends, and we anchored in Stiniva bay. I didn't think of Porco Rosso there but later when listening to the film's music, that thought struck me and I checked, because it HAD to be the perfect location. Not only the peace of the isolation was soothing (no other tourists in October), but the natural enclosure made us feel both safe and free. Also the difficult yet thrilling climb to look for a viewpoint on the sunset was worth the effort : on top were a dozen of cats near an old house. Some were scared yet curious and some were brave enough to let us pet them, that was way too cute. Later at night, when we went back on the pebble beach to stargaze a bit (since there is no light pollution), one of the cats we petted joined us to say a last goodbye under the starry sky... my heart melted. I definitely recommand.

    i dont belive the SM S.55 is what inspired The savoia S.21s design. After some time of research into old italian and german aviation (as well as british and american) i the the S.55 only inspired the name if that. The SIAI S.21 probabyl inspired the names but miyazaki based the plane off the M.33 (Macchi) He also inclusldes the Macchi M.5 and the Hansa Brandenburg C.C (c2) Byt the S.55 is in the movie in mutliple scenes. They also show countless other planes the the Caproni Ca.100 idro and the curtis R3C flown by Mr. American (Curtiss), the Macchi M.39 flown by ferrari, The CR20s of the italian airforce, and last but not least the Donnet-Lévêque which may be what the plane Marco and gina fly in is based off of simply cause crudeness, also I absolutley adore your content dude, keep at it, you got a subscriber. • @SavedByGrace_CitizenEmperorユウ

    And Miyazaki needs to distract himself that he is old (he's over 80) and that he will die eventually in a few years. Having a routine that fills your days, you create something people love. And Miyazaki is I think quite free to do whatever he likes doing (as long as he includes his typical Miyazaki elements). It's a hobby, not a job.

  • @SavedByGrace_CitizenEmperorユウ

    I guess it makes sense if you're a kind of superstar in your field. People love you and you love your work. It's not like with most of us regular folks who may or may not like their job more or less, who are happy when work is done and who are kinda looking forward to retirement. Also I guess if your job, for Miyazaki it's obviously creating great animation movies, gives you joy, pleasure, meaning, distraction, you will continue. Maybe he doesn't really know what to do with himself every day for 16 hours. Honestly this would be a horrible thing for me and I'm not even half his age! I struggle in life with knowing how to spend time, if I have too much time, I sometimes get nervous. Miyazaki basically gets acclaim for what he does automatically. People love him and what he does, he loves talking about that stuff. It's super rare to have such a thing happen to you in life, I would probably kill to figure out what I love, be creative and challenged, put in the affort and then people loving what I do. That must be amazing.

    I think JJK is overrated. I'm an anime only. I absolutely love the Hidden Inventory. In 5 episodes they made Gojo, Geto, and Toji all amazing characters. Toji became one of my favorite anime characters in 5 episodes. Yuta is also awesome. The Shibuya arc was disappointing. It just felt like we were going from fights with no time to breath. The fight scenes are great, but I do not like them as much because I do not like very many of JJK characters. I see it very similar to demon slayer. A good but basic shows with some of the best animation ever to distract from the flaws. It upsets me since I've seen a version of JJK I like more (Hidden Inventory and JJK0). The JJK is overrated take is rising because the honeymoon phase is over. JJK is a good, sometimes great show. A show with so much potential but choses to be basic.

    It’s Naruto for me. The character contradicts the entire story of being an underdog since he’s the son of both the 4th hokage but also an uzumaki with insane amounts of chakra,u then have the nine tails with crazy chakra and to even go crazier he’s then an reincarnation of a god. The Naruto side characters were completely useless after the 1st half of the og Naruto series and especially in shippuden. Sasuke is a wannabe vegeta from dragon ball z and is annoying asf hell his older brother itachi was a better character than him. The world building was decent but it’s overrated because they left so much to be explored that it’s sad because it had so much potential. Kaguya killed the most interesting villain madara except pain in the entire franchise because kishimoto didn’t know how to kill him so they made an excuse for a way to kill madara.

    • @yapWithJordyn
      @yapWithJordyn Місяць тому

      I would agree and disagree. Madara was definitely to OP. And the entrance of Kaguya and the end of the story was kinda stupid. But the side characters definitely put in a lot of work throughout the series. Just because Naruto always defeats the main boss doesn’t mean all the other members of the Akatsuki were irrelevant. They were mainly defeated by side characters and progressed the story.

Also GGO alternative is pretty good, s2 is airing rn, it's a spinoff with a completely different cast of characters and it's fun imo. But overall I think s1 is mid. I feel like Mob Psycho 100 is one of those rare gems that maybe buries the lead a little too heavily... [no spoilers are in this comment. just stuff you can see from the premise.] like, Mob Psycho 100 is great to me because of how well it weaves in its central themes. Mob has incredibly strong psychic powers, but has a very hard time dealing with people... and these two things are related. Mob has trouble with people _because_ his psychic powers are linked to his emotions. so he has to suppress his emotions, otherwise his powers run the risk of hurting someone. that means that he can't easily share his feelings with anyone... and he does this because he cares about people. his struggle to connect with others is very linked with his struggle to handle himself. then there's Reigen who, on the surface, seems like a total gag character and kind of an ass. but the way Reigen works is actually spelled out pretty clearly just by looking at him handle his clients. Reigen looks like the seediest, fakest psychic you've ever seen. so if a person is gullible enough to go to him for help, and especially if their problems aren't even caused by ghosts, then these are the types of people who would definitely be scammed by actual con artists, and/or turned away by real psychics. but Reigen doesn't con people... he finds a conventional solution to their problems, and pretends to be a psychic while he fixes everything. he has a wide range of skills, and a lot of charisma, and if something needs to get done, he'll find a way to do it. when Mob says that Reigen is his mentor, it seems like a joke at first... but someone with the confidence to regularly handle tricky social situations like this might be exactly the guy that Mob needs to learn from. plus, if someone brings in an actual ghost problem, that's something Mob can handle easily. but within this, you get a push and pull of implications. when dealing with people, sometimes it pays to be accommodating... but sometimes you may be bending over backwards to suit others. and on the same token, how can you tell if you're healthily asserting yourself, or if you've taken it too far and you're imposing yourself upon others? what's the difference between community and conformity? what's the difference between confidence, and being an asshole? it's a delicate compromise... and when some people get frustrated with navigating this compromise, they sometimes give up on it, and lean into an extreme. when you add psychic powers to this, it tends to lead people down the path of seeking superiority over others, dominating the competition, and reassuring themselves that they are the best. and it quickly becomes clear that this is both harmful to others, and isolating to the person in question. with Mob's strong psychic abilities, he can sometimes offend these people just by existing. they tend to use him as a standard by which to measure themselves, but Mob never asked for that. the show constantly introduces new twists on this theme, and unique takes on the subject, and all of that is hidden behind the often absurdist tone of its lighter moments. then just add the insanely gorgeous quality of the animation in any given display of the characters' psychic powers, and it all clicks together beautifully. most shows can only aspire to look even a fraction as good as Mob Psycho 100 in motion... I wish more shows had animation anywhere near as inventive, fluid, and full of personality. even just watching Reigen have one conversation... he goes through so much body language that you could probably watch it muted and get the gist of what he's saying. most anime's shot-reverse-shot still images with mouth flaps are like consuming potato chips, while watching Mob Psycho 100 is fine dining at a 5 star restaurant.

    • @yapWithJordyn
      @yapWithJordyn 2 місяці тому

      Hmmm that relationship actually sounds like a pretty interesting dynamic between Mov and Reigen. That is exactly how I felt about Reigen from the first couple episodes. I was kinda put off by him. I have finally been convinced! After reading this I will give Mob a full first season watch through. I’m honestly excited to try it because like I’ve said before, I really liked One Punch Man. And I enjoy shows that have a lot of deeper themes and messages, those are by far the ones that hit home most for me. Of course I know the animation is great, but I’m curious to see how I’m able to eventually connect with Mob and Reigen’s character. Sometimes it takes take. I watched Frieren and wasn’t a fan until like episode 6 or 7. Then I fell in love.

    • @IDKLOL-qj7sl

      @@yapWithJordyn I'm super happy to hear it! interestingly (based on where you said you stopped watching) I think episode 3 is about when the themes actually start to become a bit more explicit. the first two episodes are laying a lot of groundwork, for sure, especially when it comes to displaying Mob's personality and some of his problems, but episode 3 is where you really start to see where the show can go with this concept. also, I will warn you, Reigen is a bit of a sleeper hit. for better or for worse, he's not really directly involved in the main storyline until later, and season 2 really does a lot for him. he's still good in season 1, but the moments that made me think the most highly of him are a real slow drip feed. I think it just pays to remember that his character is meant to be a bit dubious. he's not as much of a jerk as he could be, but he's also not always as right as he thinks he is, and it's kind of refreshing to see that play out to its natural conclusion sometimes too.

      @@IDKLOL-qj7slhe seems like a character that is meant to be portrayed like that so you can see his character develop form season 1-2. Not gonna lie you got me hyped to watch this! I’m starting it tonight!

      @@yapWithJordyn I'll give 5 Kuma from One piece for sure because that man had every reason possible to become a villain, yet he remained an angel Vegeta because he's an absolute badass that turned from a savage to a loving father and husband and because he gives a good lesson of ambition Kakashi because he suffered in silence for years, yet he remained loyal, kindhearted and always put his friends first Orochimaru cause i love a good villain, that even though he never was overpowered he always found a way to push through and didnt give a single fuck about anything or anyone Nico Robin because i loved her backstory, her character development throughout the series, her relation with the strawhats, she's absolutely crucial to the story and i love her dark sense of humour

      @@floreaciprian9742these are top tier picks! The Vegeta evolution throughout the story is so incredible. He alone has been tempting me to rewatch DBZ for the first time since I’ve been little. Him going from villain to father and husband protecting the earth is awesome. And it’s set up so many Goku Vegeta dynamics that we see in anime today

    Hell yeah! Rudeus is great! My personal favorite is Okabe from Steins;gate. His quirkiness and different personas are so charming and the way he suffers for those he loves just got me so hyped. My god, he’s the best.

    Mine is Asta from Black Clover, I find him so inspiring and funny. Also Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen at second because he is portrayed as the strongest so well in the manga but also has a good balance of goofiness to go with him.
