Thank you! I've been using this printer for about 6 months and I've definitely had more problems then you (I've probably done around 1,000 labels so far). It's a huge time saver as long as it's working right. I do think it's a little sad that this video has had over 46,000 views at the time I'm watching it. Definitely suggests Dymo has room for improvement on instructions. I worked through your tips and was able to fix the issues. I appreciate you taking the time to make the video!
do you know why mine is printing multiple blanks every time i print something? it’s wasting all my rolls :(
@@damionthegod4402 did you try tightening the plastic on the sides of the roll? If it's loose, it makes it do weird things. I would go through all the steps they mention and it will probably fix it. Tighten those sides though.
@@LittleBizResources yeah i tried. pushed it in as hard as i could. is it possible my printer is broken? i only got it yesterday and now when i plug it in it just starts spitting out empty’s. wasted my entire roll
@@damionthegod4402 It's hard to tell for sure without seeing it, but I don't think so. Mine did the same thing and kept doing it randomly after that. For me, I went through all the steps in the video, but I noticed that when I thought the roll was on the post tight, it wasn't. I had to push a little more to get it in. (So, so hard not to quote Michael Scott with our conversation here...if you've ever seen the show The Office). I'm not sure if there is somewhere you can go to get help though. If you bought it at an Office Depot/Office Max or a Staples, maybe they have someone that might know something...but more than likely it's going to be you testing.

OMG! THANK YOU! I did the first step (unplug power cable & computer cable) and it's working! This is after I nearly pulled out every last strand of hair I have (and I have a LOT of hair!) and thrown this printer (which I love again, thanks to you.) and it's WORKING! LIFE SAVER! That was so easy. And that's usually my first trouble shooting step, but I reckon I didn't unplug both cords at the same time and wait long enough. Now, I can go back to work (without cussing at inanimate objects and throwing things...) THANK YOU!!!!

@@HustleMillennial Seriously, you saved my sanity. I’m pretty good with electronics and know how to do basic troubleshooting. But just unplugging both and waiting a minute is what fixed it. Now that my sanity has returned, I feel kinda stupid! LOL! I’m saving your video in case I need to go more than two minutes in, LOL!

it took me disassembling it to realize there was a tiny label stick between the roller. ugh.....

We’ve solved the white lines 100% of the time with the cleaning cards
Mine doesn't seem to be feeding the labels through anymore. I've pulled the lever on the left and feed one through, but it doesn't move forward and the status on my print job is 'Out of Paper'. I can't for the life of me figure out why it isn't taking the roll anymore.
I finally figured out how to get the roll to ratchet down more tightly, like you did.
Before it was saying out of paper, and now it's just saying, "Error - Printing"
When the Dymo works, it is great. However, setting it up and getting it to work properly 2 years ago was a pain in the pettutee, then a number of glitches. This should NEVER happen but it DOES, and that's why you are making this video. Just look at how many problems people have had.. One of the user unfriendliest tools I have found. I've been doing computer sites and online selling since 2002 so I know what I'm talking about. I would never recommend buying one, there are other alternatives.
Can you recommend any other alternatives? I am going through around 20-30 orders a day and have to reset or fix a jam a couple of times a day... It's ridiculously bad. When I search 4x6 label writers, I can only find this crappy DYMO 4XL.

You can clean the print heads with rubbing alcohol and some cotton balls or swabs as well. A little more tedious but cheaper.

When I went into the Dymo app it didn't recognize that there were labels in it. I had to pull it up just a centimeter for to sense the label was there. Thanks again for your help!!
Can someone maybe help me with why it prints 1 label and then loads a few blank labels and then stops? Is this normal? It is so annoying to load the black labels back in.

When printing smaller labels such as fnskus, I have the issue it’s printing off when on the screen it shows it’s centered. Even with the correct measurements input. The output is off.

The first tip used to fix my problem but for the last 3 weeks I've had to restart my computer every time I want to print a label to get it to work. Now, nothing is helping. I'm beyond frustrated right now.
How do you turn off the Dymo 4XL? LOL. Obviously, there is no power on/off switch and I notice if you leave on overnight, of course it goes into an energy saving mode (dim blue light) but when I try to use the following morning, I have to unplug and plug back in. Seems the only logical thing to do is unplug which is kinda PITA! Otherwise, I like it! THANKS!!
My same exact Demo label writer 4XL prints the postage but it ejects a couple blanks before e and several blank labels after the postage printed. Most of the time the postage is printed across 2 labels. I have the same exact settings in the printer setup as I have had for the past several years. The only thing that change was I got a new computer an Apple Mac mini but everything was backed up to the cloud.
So basically you aren’t help if it actually won’t print. Thanks for telling us all of the stuff in the manual.
I appreciate your video but I am experiencing a problem that you did not touch upon. My Dymo 4xl ejects 2 blank labels after it prints one good label. I've tried several things but nothing seems to solve the problem
My printer is just not printing and this did not help. It is printing just a second and stops.However I did buy those cleaning cards you mentioned. I know that we used to use Q-tip and alcohol to clean the roller and that woul do the trick but not this time. I wish I had a solution. I unplugged but does not help.
why not try Cheecent CR202 print server, it can change many printers to be wireless. You can find video in our channel about how to change DYMO LabelWriter 450/550 to be a wireless networked printer by using CR202 print server.

Please help! My dymo wont print any labels even after unplugging and replugging all cords. Still wont print anything. It will feed out a label when press the front button but not from computer.
I am ordering the cleaning cards but we ordered replacement labels that say they are compatible with the 4XL and all fed in no problem. Seemed like it was great but I order the label to print, all looks great but....nothing happens. Tried all your tricks (I've also opened the front) but it just isn't working. It was working no problem last week. You really think it's just the cleaning card it needs? Or do you think the 3rd party labels are to blame?
I Dymo 4XL for a couple of years and now the blue light keeps flashing and it won't advance the label despite producing the feed sound. The roller is pretty tight, and I tried a few things but it won't work. Is my label broken?
well mine wont print and at first it didn't even detect it so i had to search up how to do it manually so i connected it manually and now it just always says connected on the Dymo app even when its unplugged and it wont even print this thing is garbage
I spent 40 minutes troubleshooting this when in printer settings the printer was set to my traditional older printer... LOL

Why cant I get this to print in landscape format when on windows 10? On my mac it works great. I went to the windows printer settings and changed it there to landscape but it's still printing sideways.
I would try reinstalling the Dymo application.

Thank you Hustle Millennial! Followed all your steps however little over 1/2 of the return address is still cut off, and I can't figure out what else to do. Paper size is set to 4x6 and tried scale 'fit to paper' and 'fit to printable area', and it still doesn't do the trick. Any suggestions?
just fixed this exact issue on mine
computer settings > printer settings > print server properties (on the right side for me) > Click the size paper you want to correct (for the 4x6 labels its 1744907) > Adjust printer area margins (for me, I adjusted my left margin to 0.16" and this fixed my return label being cut off) Hope this helps!
My Dymo gives me "I don't want to print this" trouble every.single.time.

If the labels doesn't have a notch (on the left) between each one of them, it'll spit out multiples. The labels must be dymo compatible. Hope this helps.

It works well for long periods and then, bad (see my previous comments). It has worked now for a year. Today, quit working again. Now today, it does nothing when I go to use it. Unplugging, etc, does nothing. Once again, I'm back going through this video to see if I can get to work and find out this video does NOT fix the problem. It is one of the most unuser friendly hardware I have had. That is why this has 58,600 views. Get real.

Bad Aim YT. We just use the SellerCentral platform for our shipments. We use a DYMO 4XL for our shipping labels and a standard inkjet printer with label sheets for our book labels.
How do you know when to change the ink and how do you open device to change ink?
This is a thermal printer. There is no ink. :)

Help! I just bought this thing took forever to figure out how to print from PayPal label size and all that fun stuff finally figured that out hit print nothing. Tried you power cycle and when it powered back on it spit out a label. So I was over the moon excited thought I finally go this working. Went to print another label and again nothing. Power cycle again and still nothing. Any advice??

My dymo 4xl starts printing then stops, rewind and prints again on same label.
The top of my labels are missing. The weight and return address are cut off. Just lost 51 labels to using the calibration feature and the problem continues… any advice? Thank you.

This machine only works half the time. I do unplug both, wait 5 minutes. Plug back in. And nothing. I wished I never bought this. It causes more frustration than any convenience it gives me when it works.
Every time I print barcodes from this printer, it spits out 10 blank labels before I get a barcode label. I end up wasting so much paper. Still trying to figure this thing out. Someone please help me, what am I doing wrong??
2024 and we're still having issues with this dumb printer. Been using them for a decade and have had issues since week one.
How about getting a print error every time a job is sent that won't obviously print and gets stuck in the queue? As you well describe at issue #1; it just won't clear and repeats in a cycle (Using Dymo Connect 1.30.1.20 version | LW 450 and LW450 Turbo on the same PC) PS: performs a manual self test OK. Thanks
Try power cycling it. If that doesn’t work, clear your printing que, take the roll of labels out and reinsert
Mine won't print anything or do anything other than light up
I just Finished using my labels that came with the printer and put a fresh roll of Dymo labels in and it feeds through properly everything's correct but when I choose print from my computer nothing happens. Any tips?
Just A Guy try opening the Dymo app and printing a blank label.
Also, you want to make sure your computer is recognizing the device. It should be showing up in your “Devices and Printers” settings.

I usually reset the power cord on it, tear off a new label and reposition the roll.
Unplugging it and waiting 20 secs and re-plugging it in is not a solution. It's just a Band-Aid. In fact, if you just wait 2 minutes, it will start printing by itself.

My printer is brand new - It cuts off the very top of the label where to price is. My packages still get to where they are going but I'd like to fix that! I have tried adjusting my label to start lower on the label but as you know the machine pulls the label back in first then prints out the label. HELP!!!!
When you hit print, make sure you click "Fit Into Label" because that happened to me as well

We have done everything we have seen on videos, labels are printing blank. We have generic labels but they had been working fine until today. We have cleaned it etc. any other suggestions ?

I have the same problem. I don't know how Hustle Millenial can say this is a friendly device. One look at the many, many people who are trying to fix theirs and you can see that this is not an easy device. Hustle Millenia, you should change your video to reflect that the Dymo causes a lot of time-consuming and, really, stupid problems.

Is there a way to make this printer work with Windows 10? Mine is recognized on my computer but absolutely won't print. I'm wondering if it has the correct driver.
The physical label orientation inside the machine can be suuuuper picky. If it’s lopsided on the spool, or perhaps upside down, even potentially in the wrong slot
