I’m prob biased because I still have one, but I’d agree with that. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets mentioned in a decade or so in the same way that the JD-800 does now. When I have time I hope to do many more videos with complex original patches that can echo on to help it’s legacy.
@@audienceimaginary i cant get away from it it has that haunting japanese sound. Ive stopped using my rev2 it comes to thin in my ears anymore..jdxa to the rescue..gonna pull the trigger on one next month. That thing is a minimal techno pads machine 😂
Sounds good, don’t think you will regret it. The only thing I ever say to people (having owned one for 4 years), is that it can sound properly shit if it isn’t tweaked properly. Also some of the presets aren’t to everyone’s liking. You probably already know all this. But in my opinion it can be the sort of instrument that at a glance is very disappointing, but then when you dig in it’s amazing.
@@audienceimaginary well i like instant clarification on my synths and i know jdxa is nowhere near that field haha it needs proper sound design but having 8 tracks there to manipulate and knowing you can do everything with just the jdxa is where the real fun is. The only other synth i like in matters of sound is the prologue but the lack of sequencer it isnt for me. So yeah jdxa all day long🖤
Yeah sounds like you will like it. I spent about 2 hours playing a Prologue and was very impressed with how clean it sounded. It was very smooth and the filters sounded excellent to me. It’s pure analogue though. Also, the action was very nice. Tough one between that and JD-XA, I’d say the XA is more versatile overall, but the prologue is better than just the XAs analogue section (it has far more polyphony etc). It is the combination of analogue and digital that makes the JD-XA so interesting and some of its patches so bizarre and cool.
These sounds are something else. In your other video, that Terminated sound was awsome. If only I had the money, but I'll settle with my JD-XI for now...SBN RESONATE
Very nice sounds, if you ever looking for a synth with this patches flavor on the cheap… for now. Go and fetch a Kawai K4 with 80’s flavor, or Quasimidi’s Raven for that 90’s 00’s nostalgia, all though the latter is almost the same price as the XA in 2022
Pssssst !..... I have the other one... you know (the tiny cheaper one) but its great and I can only imagine what this is capable of... shhhhhhhhh, don't let any one know I was here...
Xrossover Pad is the preset name. It’s a hybrid analog and digital sound. It’s multitimbral with a four voice analog pad with (from memory) at least 4 digital parts stacked on top of it. The vid probably dissects it better than what I’ve discussed here. I love the sound I actually used it recently for a 1 hour relaxation piece check it out ua-cam.com/video/cEF3NA7f2s8/v-deo.html
Giving my System 8 to my son and concentrating on the JDXA because I dig it bad!
One of the top 10 synths in history at my book. And the most underated for sure. Proper giant killer features sound and sequencer

Great sounds. Thanks. I'm a fan of the JD-XA myself.

Great thanks for sharing! It looks very inspiring!
Nice demo, and good to hear each layer. This has to be one of the best pad synths. Would be good to see it side by side with the Quantum.

what is the first pad you play i love that sound never heard anything like it

Was thinking about this Roland, good idea, but just doesn't quite get there. I'm keeping my V-Synth ....Thanks, IA
Are these all factory patches? Some really great stuff here!
The first few are preset patches. Then there are some from several different Axial sound banks.
Lik'n the tunes IA, 👓24
This is ep ambient, boards of canada or sigur ros
