So are we reaching 170,000 views anytime soon! :D That is astounding for a synth demo like this, MANY THANKS for coming here! Now, don't miss the rest of all my digital content, including both this channel, a website, Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp etc etc! ;-)
Amazing piece of machinery. I also really liked the Vangelis-esque style you had going. I have been debating on Jupiter-X versus JD-XA for months and you just completely sold me on joining the JD-XA club.
Nice to see someone actually playing this instead of waffling about it, lovely tune. Bought one of these yesterday, now on the anxious four day wait for it to arrive... Sooo excited!!! Just hope it plays nice with my moog.
Thank you Smurf! I used to collect smurfs as a kid, will never get over the fact that they got lost when the family moved. I am sure you will love the JDXA, it's a totally fantastic space ship. It's still kind of my dream synth, something I get reminded of every time I get a kind posting about the track here. I had borrowed this one from Roland here in Sweden and I found it very fun to use. One day I'll join your club and have one of my own. If it doesn't play well with the Moog, get rid of the Moog. ;-) The JD-XA is more unique.
OMG.... That's beautiful. I love it. I keep looking at the JD-XA and stop by the store to play with it a bit. I really want one, but I'm really a guitar player. I have a Korg Trition Extreme and would like the JD-XA too and MIDI them. I wish there are more hours in the day. OMG, this demo makes we want to go order one...
Beautiful music , thanks for uploading this . Damn that is really gorgeous . May your life be filled with people that love you and may your talent soar even higher .
I've been wanting one of these since I first heard about it. This is the first time I've actually heard the sound I was looking for on it...you know, the one that makes your knees weak, and engenders that moment that you know your voice is in there somewhere. I wanted one before, now I need one. Thank you for this.
Got the download okay and it did unzip just fine. Thanks... I already have them on my XA.... love all the patches. I spent an hour in the studio just playing around with them. WOW... I love it. Thanks for making those available. Sweet sounds..
So hooked on Roland. I have a JP-80, JD-Xi, FA06, V-Synth GT v2, & now it looks like I'll be ordering a JD-XA on count of your demo, lol. ;) Great job.
Are hardware synths actually better sounding than vsts? I have heard people say there is generally ‘no difference’ but my ears say different... 🤔 sounds so much richer
Yeah they are different sounding. But more importantly they are designed for playing. Best combo imo is hardware synths and mixing/sequencing on daw. Best of both worlds really. Caveat though is that you need to record into audio, but that forces you to make progress. You will do fine with powerful machine and vsts and have even more sound design potential in say ableton with max than any hw synth, but its really up to you. Id say, if you are curious, buy some cheap synth with return policy, in case you dont click with it, you have the option to return it and also if you like it you can still return it for a bigger synth. Id suggest some synth that can modulate parameters with midi cc and had patch memory, like bass station2 or minilogue, you can then draw automations in daw and even save programs so when you open project it will load right patch.
Excellent video. Really showcases this synth more than that fool Tibbs did. Gorgeous tone. Very 80s soundtrack feel to this piece. Still loving your refills mate!
whew. Was wavering with buying a JD-XA in 6mths or so since I just bought an XI, but you've sold me here. Worth the wait for sure! And hey, more glowy red synths can never really HURT. I think. Besdt demo I've seen!
+bitleyTM Please do! I swear Roland just has awful choice on demos. I had a feeling this machine was fully capable and plenty nice, despite what analog die-hards and gearslutz members proclaim. Now if only it was a lot cheaper ;p
Thank you for an absolutely superb demo mate :-) and just by coincidence I was in Red Dog Music store today in Edinburgh and tried it out for myself and was blown away by the sheer depth and scale of the JD-XA's capabilities, a truly wonderful synth in its own rights, I just wish that I had a spare £1,600 to buy such a machine, on the other hand I met Dave at Red Dog Music who is the resident Roland guy there and who gave me a full demo on the machine and also on the Aira range too Absolutely amazing stuff and an inspiration as your title suggests :-) Glen :-)
Cheers for the chill! Most relaxing in the background at my office here - looking to purchase one of these. Nice to see one of the few demos where we hear the beast not the bloke.
Not to mention the part from 2:26-2:44! The way the acc plays along with the musician himself aswell as the LFO perfectly syncing with the all over performance!.. That part particullary is utter timeless! And I truely adore that part! But all over; This is my all time high played tune on my phone and computer!
+bitleyTM Roland should invite you to put your video on their website. You helped me decide to buy this one. I sold the Jupiter-80 ( a great and beautiful instrument in its own right but limited to digital - the JD has much more upside IMHO) to get the JD-XA. Now to learn it as well as you have.
+Sam Utah Congrats on a wonderful instrument :) It's pretty awesome sitting in front of the "airport overview" this synth offers. This was an inspired moment, I'm sure you'll have plenty of those. I'm sure we've only scratched the surface of what it can do. THAT, on the other side, is what everyone thinks would happen to it. I'd rather focus on its synth powers... :)
+fnersch What do you think of the KB action? Have an Xi since its what I can afford right now but the KB isn't very good on that (understandably). And does the aftertouch work pretty well or is it a bit funky?
@@bitley I had some bits (tt-303, spare emx and esx, and a couple of Circuits) that I wasn't using so Reverb took care of those. That covered it with enough to buy a couple of other bits. This and a deepmind module layered together is something.
+Richard Graham Haha! Lovely comment! ;-) Feel free to check my channel & the other chooonz, I think you might actually find more muzic!!! On UA-cam! ;-) Many thanks Richard!
No kidding...usually synth "demos" are 10 or 15 minutes of the most annoying buzzing and tortured filter sweeps. If you complain people tell you that you don't understand synthesis. What they don't understand is music.
Jd-xa is my next board + the system 8. After that i make the big investment the top model Nord board. And maybe a proffet board if it's digital? And then I'm done i hope! Alot of money in my collection of synthesizers.
A nod to Vince Clarke. JD-XA sounds great, laptop free. The sequencer helps you to approach writing music using it as a 'scratch pad'. Is there any official AU/VST to dive deeper? Keep 'noodling'...
This one is really something. Few days ago in local Dawsons store I had a chance to play a bit on it. Even with surrounding noise and rather cheap headphones it does sound decent. It didn't have price tag, so later on I found the price :-(, however if I could have budget of £1600 for a synth - I'd go with this one.
In bachelor days, I would have all my instruments switched on in the night, just to have those lights on, with my turntable on repeat mode. I would sleep on the floor with those lights on (in a darkened room of course) and background music and that was how I stayed alive basically! 😂😂😂😂

@@1britbwoy Oh thank you very much. I had fun. Still want one!
Amazing piece of machinery. I also really liked the Vangelis-esque style you had going. I have been debating on Jupiter-X versus JD-XA for months and you just completely sold me on joining the JD-XA club.
I could listen to this beautiful demo all night. Great for my depression.
I could listen to you play that for hours, thanks for sharing!
It's in the i of this listener, the range of sounds brings me to tears everytime, very colourful music. Thanks Mate.

The sound is so eighties...ish. 👍😉 Love it so much.
You are remember me the Good time of Good music of Vangelis & Jean Michelle Jarre. Thank you!
this is how synth demos should be like, very musical full of melodies
very inspiring, I love Roland instruments
Super noodle :) I could happily listen to this on endless repeat! Great stuff.
Nice flow and progression. Had me following it in my head. Good job.

It's the best synth I have ever bought. You can stack up more voices than you'll ever need. Editing is very detailed.

I LOVE my Roland JD-XA! great vid!
I thought you have the JD Xi
I do have the JDXI I also HAD the JDXA but moved it out for a JD800 and a P6 but I do miss it.
@@PureAmbientDrone ...so you bought another one lol
Flexible to play...the first impression...as a huge KORG-fan, I must say, that this one sounds deeeeeppp!

Update. I have one! lol. If only I had the time to really pick it's brain. Soon. Soon, enough!
Very nice, great sounding JD-XA !
Love the cool sounds on this synth, researching f/one now. This is a top contender if I can afford it. This is a great demo.

1 of Rolands best ever made
Yes in a way maybe it is. :-) It was massive for sure. All these sections.

Relaxing and powerful; I like it!
AspleniumHexe Many thanks! :)
Wow absolutely incredible! This definitely helped my decision to sell off my "toy" synths and I finally purchased the Roland JD-XA, thanks!
I'm curious as to what you sold ?

sunil solanki thanks, this patch became very expressive and fun to play with :)
Great work man! not only did you accomplish rocking this synth, your tune is very emotive, it has a soul.
Thanks! It often starts like that, a musical "theme" is being worked on when being inspired to create patches. Very cool of you to say this! Thanks
Wonderful, beautiful

Loving the sound of the JD XA, great playing! I hope to have the JD XI next few weeks as it seems a good synth for the price.
I think it is amazing composition ..Very lovely sound ..Can you make more please ..I cant wait
Thanks, a second one up now
Thanks for 18 and a half minutes of enjoyment!

Did you ever get one btw?
I like demos like this with rythm, melody and harmony.
I just purchased this, and loved watching your video here. Just uploaded my own video of some sounds I've made using the analog section.
Amazing

Really nice work. This inspires me. I recently got a JD-XA and love it inspite of all the criticism. No synth is perfect.

+Keegan Jones I'd step in here and say the JD-XA keyboard is really good. Nice and smooth aftertouch as well.
+fnersch Lovely that my video inspires you, many thanks for that! :-)
sublime.
Aha. "different LED settings". Thank you for finally clearing up why I saw some JD-XAs with tons of red backlight, and others without. ;)
Also if you edit a digital part all the analogue specific lights turn off =)
LOL, between you, gattobus, and ToneKontrol I might just be convinced enough to buy this monster.
PHIL COLLINS?! :D

Amazing performance and sound !

+Enorasis Project Welcome!
This is the best synthesizer I ever heard. Congratulations! But the price is very high.
Thanks! To be a modern really tweakable full size synth it's actually not so expensive.
Well done!! great job!!!
