Ed. I expect you are aware, but you can apply to become the legal registered keeper of a car in the UK. This does not prove you own it, but does allow you to TAX it and thus make it road legal. The isle of man is the home of many a famous person. Its a tax haven in the uk and its full of big houses where famous people move to when they retire. I know of many big places with huge garages and car collections. Would be easy to hide something there. Added the next to no crime and fact people wont go trespassing to search places, it could be hidden for years without being seen.
I live on the Isle of Man - born and raised here and I've followed Eds hunt for the infamous F1 for years now. My heart dropped when I heard him say someone had seen it here hahaha. I thought the same thing though - Its the perfect place for it to be hidden and no one would ever find it. Once the guy said the police had turned up at the port etc. and arrested them, I knew it wasn't true as that would have made local news. Crazy to think though, it could be anywhere...
@@xXExtremeTABXx absolutely. Im from laxey myself, as soon as i heard authorities were involved i knew it had to be false. Police dont have enough braincells to rub together between the lot of them to pull of an operation like that lol
These are too valuable to vanish: I’d bet my balls McLaren know exactly where this car is. My bet is it’s now with a new owner. In a new colour. And probably in the U.S. And McLaren would know.
Alice in Wonderland was written in 1865. It is still read today and movies are being made about it. Ed Bolian in 039 is equally fanciful and full of wonder. We all look forward to the next chapter.
How many F1's have been totaled? Is their a chance that in the late 90's Mclaren bought the car back and used it to rebuild or even "vin swap" #39 to a car that was totaled out? Would that have been cheaper then building a whole new chassis?
@@michaelbrooks8332 Yeah I was leaning towards that. They sold the car and then they find out its tied to a hitman in a drug cartel. When they asked for keys they could of offered to ship the car to make the right keys or whatever and then refused to send it back and just paid them market value for it. Or they just kept it since the current "owners" didnt have keys or paperwork proving ownership. Going with that theory if that isnt the case then whoever does have it might also be on the hook for grand theft auto of a 20 million dollar car.......so if thats true then it will never see the light of day
Allot of them been crashed but totaled and disaperd i think just 3 first one in namibia desert by the mclaren team Second one a guy and 2 passanger this is the only fatal accident of an f1 btw Third a red one in a rainy day in a brunei highway the car was then used for parts
They are too expensive to be totalled. Famously in 2015 Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) crashed his F1 on a road about 5 miles from where I live. The repair bill was £910,000 (about $1.15m) or about $1.5m today. It remains the most expensive auto insurance repair claim in the UK. They did not write it off as that would be over $10m.
@@nixer65 Totaling a car is sort of just paperwork. A vin is nothing more then a number plate. If one is crashed bad enough and needs enough parts it would technically be totaled, as most likely nothing on the car can be used again. So in that case, they are just vin swapping. One monocoque is scrapped, another one made and then its built off of that. They don't cost 10m to make.
A friend of the owner of that McLaren said that this car has never moved from Culiacán nor will it move from there, it is sheltered inside a house, literally inside the house they had to knock down a wall to put it in the living room and there it is with AC air so that air always circulates and the car is washed weekly, They turn it on once a month and no, it's not for sale, even if they offer the 20 million they will tell them what is not for sale, why it is an object of sentimental value, and the answer will be no,It will never be for sale even if they offer 40 million, they will say a resounding no, but they should know that this F1 has never moved from Culiacán or is still as good as new because of the care they give it. And the keys, most importantly, they never lost them even though they still have the original keys and all that theater that according to what they lost are just false rumors, all information comes from a UA-cam channel called OkranLeaks who supposedly is the Mini licenciado If that is true, then the information it says is totally true.
On the other hand, if you possessed that car, would you really want to admit to having possession of it over the phone or in text or email especially to someone you don’t know I would think just admitting that you own it or have possession of it could cause a lot of problems should certain people find out
This is one of the VinWiki missing car stories that caught my attention the most when it was first told. Can't imagine the thrill the person who finds it is going to have!
So this new type of colouring was becoming really popular in 2017 I think we starting really seeing a lot of cars. These pastel colours. I think we'll soon come back to candy colours as there was a brief time in the early 2010s where a few cars had it. Gloss remains a very base colour.
That F1 didn't belong to El Chapo; he wasn't the original owner. In the day "El Chapo" was a rising Drug Lord but didn't have enough power yet. Yes, belonged to another "old vanguard" Drug lord from Sinaloa. Lifetime rumors say that still in Culiacan somewhere stored and under protection for the Sinaloa Cartel. As an extra bonus, another F1 in Mexico belongs to a very wealthy individual who would probably put the car on "museum piece mode" to drain all the car fluids and remain in his house as an exhibition piece. This was back in 2021 and still no information about the true destiny of that F1.
I don't know man... his smurk at the end was all too confident. I wouldn't be surprised that this story is a lot further along the way than we think and that he already acquired it. I really hope so.
Also an avid F1 enthusiast; finally convinced myself that since I'll never be able to afford one, I'll have to make one (which I'm currently doing). F1 LM is by far my dream car; while everyone had lambo posters, I had the F1 on my wall. I sincerely appreciate you trying to track down #003. The funniest part of this story is thinking you'll get an even ragged out one for only $1.5MM. :)
I've been to the Williams property on the Bridal Path in Toronto Canada, the most impressive private car collection I've ever seen in that garage. Sadly, no F1 though.
I have a feeling its either been sold discretly or parted out.... cartel members live short lives and the idea that its been in storage for decades seems unlikely. Considering they cant drive it, youd assume they would rather get rid of it for however much they could get.
So….in other words, in a reference book somewhere there is an entry telling all of us plebes in the future that “Robachivas’ F1” is synonymous with “Eleanor”?? 😳🤣🤣 Cheers Ed, never give up on the chase! 🖖😎👍
I think it would be the height of irony if Ed got scammed. This has all the elements of a scam. Why would a car go for $1.9M if it is worth over $10M? You would think they people who own the car would do everything they could to make it legal. Anyway this is how they get you. They create a sense of urgency and a too good to be true deal. Imagine seeing Ed panhandling because he lost all his money to this scam.
I think it's safe to say that if someone contacts you with information and doesn't back up their claims with photos immediately; then they're taking you on a ride.

@@Melanie16040 you are dealing with a master bullshitter. He probably didn’t think of that and is trying to save face.
“You can’t bullshit a bullshitter.”
As soon as you said that the car ..a McLaren F1 ...belonged to the late Sir Frank Williams I knew it was bull. Every Formula 1 enthusiast know what I mean.
Shrewd cartel stalking!
I love that every lead you can stumble upon, you investigate. Even if there is nothing concrete, at least it creates great content!
Definitely one of the most interesting stories ever on this channel and I hope we see a conclusion anytime in the future. Keep digging Ed!
Its not in the UK. Never has been
I live on the Isle of Man - born and raised here and I've followed Eds hunt for the infamous F1 for years now.
I believe the blue Ford GT Jeremy Clarkson way back was registered on the Isle of Man
It was. @@ShanesAutos
I hope Ed gets the car someday, he is the right person to own it. The joy that would give us all would be immense.
Man I’ve been waiting for an update on this for so long, never thought I’d see it but here we are😅
I'm glad you tube didn't forget to notify me about this . The search continues
I really want to see Ed Rocking an F1 with a Georgia License Plate that says "El Chapo".
No one told you? The car has been in the US for a while..
Tim from DDE has it, the previous owner installed aftermarket parts and painted it bronze.
🤣💀
I'm confident there will come a day where the true wearabouts of this car will be found.
You gotta save her 🙏
These are too valuable to vanish: I’d bet my balls McLaren know exactly where this car is.
My bet is it’s now with a new owner. In a new colour. And probably in the U.S. And McLaren would know.
Best transition to a sponsor ever.
You definitely deserve more recognition for this!
This seems like the most likely thing that happened to it, I think it would come under "brand protection" on the balance sheet.
Going with that theory if that isnt the case then whoever does have it might also be on the hook for grand theft auto of a 20 million dollar car.......so if thats true then it will never see the light of day
Allot of them been crashed but totaled and disaperd i think just 3
first one in namibia desert by the mclaren team
Second one a guy and 2 passanger this is the only fatal accident of an f1 btw
Third a red one in a rainy day in a brunei highway the car was then used for parts
On the other hand, if you possessed that car, would you really want to admit to having possession of it over the phone or in text or email especially to someone you don’t know I would think just admitting that you own it or have possession of it could cause a lot of problems should certain people find out
Wow look who hit 2MM subs on YT! Congrats Ed. Great channel. Love the content & delivery.
I am based in the Isle of Man and own a tyre business here. If there is any way I can help, just late me know.
You know, it’s gonna be a good story when VINwiki couldn’t even pick a cheeky line straight through the intro and into the story
It's in New Zealand.
I wonder if anyone called adx max to talk to el chapo himself about the car might be another 10 years or so before we see the car due to its rarity
The Williams family have never owned a F1…..I live very very near them and know a few of them….lovely people too
That was the smoothest transition into a sponsored advert I've ever seen on youtube
You’re gonna get this car
These videos on the lost El Chapo McLaren F1 every few months keep me going.
What a rollercoaster
Whoever has the F1 should know the only question is how big the number is before the six 0s.
The journey is 75% of the fun dude. Enjoy it lol. Hence why I still don't own a r34 gtr.
This is one of the VinWiki missing car stories that caught my attention the most when it was first told. Can't imagine the thrill the person who finds it is going to have!
Fyi a yellow McLaren F1 with that Registration Plate last had an MOT in 08/04/20. Meaning that at least it was in the UK in 2020.
I think he already made a video about that and basically they just used the plate it wasn’t actually chasis 39
Plot twist: Ed already owns the car and just posts these videos to throw the DEA off the trail 😂
So this new type of colouring was becoming really popular in 2017 I think we starting really seeing a lot of cars. These pastel colours. I think we'll soon come back to candy colours as there was a brief time in the early 2010s where a few cars had it. Gloss remains a very base colour.
Time for another great video 🎉
I have it but I’m not selling it sorry. 😂
man that segway to the Menta Watch ad was smooooothhhhh
I don't know man... his smurk at the end was all too confident. I wouldn't be surprised that this story is a lot further along the way than we think and that he already acquired it. I really hope so.
At least the F1 is giving us stories. I would be stoked if Ed actually found it. I’m invested
Im surprised this car isn't in Ed's collection yet
1 day you will find it can't wait
I love the updates on the special ones thanks ed!
I've been to the Williams property on the Bridal Path in Toronto Canada, the most impressive private car collection I've ever seen in that garage. Sadly, no F1 though.
The knowledge that someone right now is sitting in the El Chappo F1 watching this video on his phone.
I have a feeling its either been sold discretly or parted out.... cartel members live short lives and the idea that its been in storage for decades seems unlikely. Considering they cant drive it, youd assume they would rather get rid of it for however much they could get.
Ever since your first story on this car ive been hooked, and just searched for any updates and you got a new video from 2 days ago!! Perfect timing!
That's a really cool story it would have been awesome if they had panned out. The search goes on for the missing McLaren....
So….in other words, in a reference book somewhere there is an entry telling all of us plebes in the future that “Robachivas’ F1” is synonymous with “Eleanor”?? 😳🤣🤣
Cheers Ed, never give up on the chase!
I hope you find this car.
Seems like another “Cannonball” dream.
I got to see your car at the Autofair and was hoping to meet you.
