Not only is it a great Howard story, it's also a true display of your acting abilities, providing unique voices for every character.
I am now in my mid-60s. Growing up in Nigeria I absolutely loved Howard's tales. Conan was relatively easy to find, and upon returning to England in the 70s, I managed to get hold of some Kull, Cormac and Bran Mak Morn stories, but no way near enough. First time I've come across this, and it's absolutely brilliant. The narration and different accents are outstanding. Inspired by Howard and subsequently David Gemmel, I am now a self-published author, and find your uploads instructional and a joy.
Excellent, what kind of things do you write?
My favorite Robert E. Howard story.
Literally one of the best action adventure stories I've ever heard.
Thank you so much. We loved it, a fantasy action crossover through time from almost 100 years ago, makes a lot of modern stuff seem real poor.
Just as Kull, brought the might and power of a forgotten age, so does RE Howard, to show how it should be done. I've only recently discovered this gem of a performance. Thank-you.
classic first cross-over of its type
"Howard's words rang like brazen anvil strokes in a war God's smithy." Quote from Roy G. Krenkle, the artist who painted the magnificent cover if the Lancer Company book King Kull back in the 60s. Your audio book stands side by side with that great work as an equal. Valka, Crom and Howard thank you for your contribution.
Nothing starts the year like some coffee and RE Howard. Thanks for the suggestion! You gave Kull a very mighty laugh, i love it
Glad you enjoyed it, it's a favourite of ours.
Every time I read this story, I see a better than decent movie.
As I listen to you read it, I see a spectacular blockbuster.
Absolute CLASSIC!!!! Great production top to bottom. Everyone should listen and enjoy.
The one telling this story… his voice is gold
Hands down the best reading of a Bran Mak Morn story I've ever heard
Been reading REH for half a century. This is a GREAT find.
we have many more
I can't reconcile the almost American sounding accent for Kull but awesome reading despite this. When the wizard states he will bring a king like none has seen for thousands of years my skin nearly leapt off me!
The master of the two fisted tale, masterfully read.
This is sensational stuff and deserves greater recognition 👏
Absolutely great. Glad someone finally produced some good Howard recordings. Much, much, much better than libravox. Thank you.
Just came across these and by god they are read beautifully man thanks for this
Glad you like them! Enjoy more.
So happy I found this awesome channel!
Welcome aboard!
Great read. I prefer your REH tales over others.
Excellent job on this one. It's always been my favorite Kull story, my second favorite Bran story. What I like about your readings, are the pronunciations of names and places that I've only seen when reading. "Connacht", "Cymbrian", "Trajan" ( from Worms). Just one more reason your work is really enjoyable to listen to. Looking forward to hearing El Borak!
we do our best to research pronounciations we dont know, but we do have a leg up on celtic etc (eg. there is a county in england called 'cumbria' from 'cymbrian')
One of my favourite REH tales.Love how you do the accents mate.
Just great!
Excellent post
Fabulous! Magnificent! The best audio telling of this story I have ever heard.
this story is so good im commenting twice to add to the interaction to help the algorithm.
Your reading of this wonderful story was amazing - well done. You made my time mowing my lawn/tending to my garden a lot of fun. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! (though I can't hear very well over my lawn-mower)
Wow!! What a clever premise....
yeah, big hero crossover back in the 30's
one of my favorite of the stories, intriguing and fun
An amazing , inspiring story. Akin to 300. Both 300 led by a fierce , legendary King. Thank you very much for an excellently presented production of a very well written story. A bugle blaring glorious chorus of the multiverse of men.
quite possibly the first hero crossover event even considering it was written in the 30s
I've only been sub at this channel for about 2 weeks and this is easily my favorite video on this channel so far, what's funny is I sub to this channel to listen to readings of Robert e Howard Conan but I stayed for king kull what awesome character.
Glad you're enjoying them. We have Solomon Kane, too :)
@@TheCybrarian yeah most definitely I'm going to listen to all of your videos including Solomon kane as well, I don't know much about the character other than the movie I saw some years ago but he seems like a interesting character.
Simply outstanding!
The cure for low-t adventure....
This sounds best to me
Do you know who this story needed??? BLACK TURLOG
It woulda been dope if there was some Sergio Leonne, 3 way plot action happening with 2 opposing forces and a 3rd wild card to keep things interesting.
i know black turlog was born around a thousand years late for this battle, and this story was awesome enough as is, but itd be cool to see how he would interact with Bran and Kull
3-way crossover, interesting idea
Quite an entrance for Kull, I can only imagine what classic people would think of Olympian bodybuilders now. It would be unbelievable to see humans on HGH and Test.
The people would say if they saw bodybuilders of to day, oh my gods, look Mommy Hercules, no kid my name is Henry Cavill.
Great work!
Great job. Thanks for this. Ever consider doing some of his poetry? Solomon Kane’s Homecoming, or A Song of The Race?
yes, even enjoying doing the chapter intros from 'road of kings' for example. Think we may add them into the playlists at some point to have a pause between the longer stories.
I love Howardian pulp.
This was a marvellous reading. I commend you on doing so many readings of stories featuring other Robert E. Howard characters than Conan.
Thank you, we'll have another Solomon Kane story done by Halloween.
@@TheCybrarian Fantastic!
❤❤❤❤❤
I've often wondered if Robert e Howard actually lived in those times and was reincarnated in ours to come up with the things that he's come up with is unbelievable
Your not alone, Howard himself said story would seem to write themselves at times.
@@benidictnelbert Howard, I heard, wrote about 5 immortal heroes who kept being reborn over and over again for thousands of years.
That is similar to what Taylor Caldwell said about her writing . When she wrote the biography of Ghengis Kahn she went and camped out in the steppes to get a sense of the man ; channeling those times. She stated she actually felt she was able to channel some person close to him.
. General George C Patton when urged by his subordinates to stop the March and camp as the men were tired replied," Over this next hill is a small valley with a rise on its far side, upon which sits a knoll with an old Roman encampment . We will bivouac there; as it provides excellent defense and commands a 360 degree view . And sure enough it was there. Although he had never been in that part of France before nor was the site on any known maps. He confided later that he believed he could remember snatches of 4 or 5 previous lives and in every one he had been a great commanding General of an entire army.
REH sure did like calling people hawk faced
yup
he uses it multiple times in Black Colossus that we're premiering later today.
think it's coz he can't use real world analogies in his Hyborian Age
Great audios!!! I've got a question though:. Do you have any of the King Brule (pronounced like Broolay)? He was a Pictish warrior king. He's mentioned at 7:56
brule appears in our Kull stories 'The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune', 'The Cat and the Skull' and 'The Shadow Kingdomw' but he's still emisarry to Kull and the Picts at that point
420th like that has to mean something 😮
It's a cool story, but why does Kull sound like Foghorn Leghorn?
we try to use coresponding accents for people from diffent locations of the ancient world, but conan and kull are individual outsiders, we never interact with anyone else from atlantis or cimmeria, so we used western accents for them to make them stand out
