Bro you basically described most of the stuff people buy stuff that is used for something but can't be used for that something because it's expensive as hell
If they can't it's because they aren't healthy. 90% of people that advertise these in videos or that impulse buy them don't know how to keep them healthy. First thing is that they belong outside under full sun.

It's called Chrysomya rufifacies! (I thought it was a regular fly until further research!) from wiki: Chrysomya rufifacies is a species belonging to the blow fly family, Calliphoridae, and is most significant in the field of forensic entomology due to its use in establishing or altering post mortem intervals. The common name for the species is the hairy maggot blow fly, and it belongs to the genus Chrysomya, which is commonly referred to as the Old World screwworms. This genus includes other species such as Chrysomya putoria and Chrysomya bezziana, which are agents of myiasis. C. rufifacies prefers very warm weather and has a relatively short lifecycle. It is widely distributed geographically and prefers to colonize large carcasses over small ones. The species commonly has a greenish metallic appearance and is important medically, economically, and forensically. Some fun facts too Chrysomya rufifacies has been used successfully in maggot therapy to treat patients with osteomyelitis, a microbial infection of the bone. C. rufifacies can be a vector for enteric pathogens in countries such as India and Australia, specifically, if it enters homes due to its attraction to feces, fruits, meats, and refuse. Multiple pathogens such as Bacillus bacteria, roundworms, and pinworms have been recovered from the alimentary canal and feces of C. rufifacies. The late instars of the species are beneficial medically by acting as predators of maggots of pathogen-transmitting and myiasis-producing flies; thus, the larvae can be used as beneficial and effective biological control agents. However, certain strains from Australia, India, and Hawaii have been documented to have instars that are harmful when involved in secondary myiasis.
The only "expense" my traps incur is buying distilled water for when I forget to collect rainwater. Flytraps do not like tap water or even well water (minerals). The flies are free..

Flytrap is a misnomer. Not only do these plants not need frequent feeding because they can photosynthesize and get food that way, but they also generally eat ants
they can feed themselves, its wild plant and its understanding that in THIS world it can get flyes only in summer, it will remember it and will live healthy without food for most half of year, because its nature for it what you create

I remember growing up with those plants. Love these Super Mario goofy looking plants ❤😂
My expensive friend is going to love this!
Flytraps are so interesting and i might get one but i dont know how to take care of them can you make a video about caring for them
Flies have insane reaction times
Blud started breakdancing at the end🗣
So if you buy an expensive flytrap, it’ll be much more useless than a non expensive one? Yeah I’ll buy a competent one 😂
Man at the end I can hear the crunch and squish from that fly
I just sent this to the most expensive person I know, my one black friend (for diversity)
Nah, he just too shy
Yes! UA-cam, you finally sent me one that doesn't insult me.
The fly was beautiful
Seriously, I hope that no flies were harmed while making this video!
Heaven to my ears
That is a unique style of catching flies
I’ve had my flytrap for about a decade now. I’m yet to see it catch a fly. Lots of sun and rainwater is all they need really. 🤷♂️
