Ya there’s a lot to talk about in this video, great topic. I think everyone is guilty of wanting to keep something in their PC when they had the intent of flipping it haha or holding a card that is going way up with the fear of never being able to get it again. I think it’s certainly fine if you can afford it and not be too overwhelmed with your PC. I think everyone faces this question whether it’s slabs, binder cards or sealed products. I thought about 3 key aspects that have helped me with this topic. 1) If my collection gets overwhelming or I really am not appreciating a card or have lost interest in them. I really want to consolidate and only have the cards and binders that I care about and can manage so I sell them off or trade them slowly and see how I feel. I’m consolidating a lot and feels good each time I sell and my storage gets smaller. 2) Trust your instincts and feelings. If I do sell a card and don’t miss it at all great! If I really want it back, I’ll put it on a buy list, and wait til the time is right and buy it or until I saved that money. I think people get an irrational feeling that a card will never come back on the market and you typically overpay for things. Following some people who have been in the hobby for decades they always talk about how cards will always be on the market. Unless it’s literally a pop 1 or a super personal card to you a similar card will always come back on the market. This happened with the Entei movie promo psa 10 for me and I bought another copy a year later. 😂 I’ve also overpaid for an Alakazam card I thought I’d never see again and another popped up a week later. 3) It helps me a lot to know where I’m putting the money that I’m getting from selling an item. Trading has helped a ton too, trading up or consolidating items for one big grail card, I just have never regretted trading up. Or even if the money is going into a savings account or something. I’m selling some sealed boxes that have gone up since I bought them, and sure they could go up way more in 2-5 years but I’m telling myself I need to lower some risk exposure on these items and put the money into a good savings. Like Ryan says “No one ever went broke taking a profit” Haha cards will always be available in my opinion!
I'm certainly at the stage of downsizing my collection as things that are no longer necessary fit in my overall collection {which is already small) are place out of sight and I really should let them go though I feel like one day I might want them again to service a different collection purpose. And in terms of selling whether for the short/long term, my aim would to be just make half back not necessarily to make a profit but if that happens great sometime we all need to be realistic about selling sometimes.

I like the idea of selling anything that you start to lose attachment for. I have a clutter problem in this hobby for sure.

While I don’t grade, it’s gotta be hard sometimes to sell cool cards that aren’t too expensive, even when the profit margin is high
yeah I have accumulated so many cards that I do not personally value but for some reason am hesitant to sell.
