  • I found a company that sells acrylic panels that are made to look like a brushed metal. I ordered some and did a custom patch laser engraved on my Snapmaker and press to a hat with the Fusion IQ 360 Hat Press. I really like the way this looks!

I went back to double check your video but you didn't mention time and temperature. Acrylic sheets will soften gradually as the temperature is increased above 210°F (99°C). At temperatures from 340°F to 380°F (171°C to 193°C), it becomes soft and pliable and can be formed into almost any shape using inexpensive molds. I know that's a wide temperature range but you may or may not be at the higher end. Looking at the Lonestar page they provide the following in the product description; IQ setting: Top 280 Bottom 320 for 45 seconds or Single Platen: 300 for 50 seconds. Like you mention though, it might just take a bit of fiddling with the time or temp, but I'd advise only changing one or the other as you dial it in.

The temperature settings that you mentioned above is exactly what I used. The problem was I did not use a foam pad protection on top of the actual acrylic patch. Thank you for this information.

@@custommadebyus hey, it's not like I ever forgot to something similar. Thankfully the fix was a simple one.

You bought material and put it on hat. Could have at least flipped the camera over and showed the patch instead of your face the whole video. Pointless video but hey I watched it so you got a view.

We’ll the video wasn’t made for you, so I guess that’s a good thing.
