  • Anthem mom Jennifer Meils-Gecho says her son Joseph "Joey" Gecho, 16, always felt like "a square peg in a round hole." Joey, who has Asperger syndrome, never got the attention he needed in public school. Then they found Banner Children's Academy, an accredited special needs school in Tempe, where Joey is thriving. The school tailors to the academic and social learning styles of children with special needs-including those on the autism spectrum-from grades four through 12. "Because of Banner, I can accomplish things," says Joey. "Best school I've ever been to-they care here."
