Thank you for taking us along on a walk in nature. It was very calming. My plan is to retire at age 65 (2 years and 2 months to go) I still have my mortgage to pay off so at this time early retirement is not an option. I’ve been a nurse for 41 years.I’m very fortunate that I only work part time (36 hours every two weeks) I feel like I’m slowly easing into retirement slowly.

I retired last year at 59 and couldn't be happier. I have rental income and work the occasional part time job for income as well as having a healthy savings and investment portfolio and low monthly expenses.
My car just die and I had to buy another car so I'm just working a part time job just to pay the car off. Once it's paid off, I will quit. And to be honest, I actually don't mind working part time. I guess because I know I can quit at anytime I want.

A single person most my life. I made lists and posted them 1 by 1 on the mirror or refrigerator and said when I make my list GOD will bless it. And they would become so.
    Thank you ❤

Wonderful video: I was "retired" by my boss. After the initial shock came relief. Then C virus arrived. All in all we survived and now thrive. Country living. Nice to meet you!

I threw out my husband’s National Geographic, and American Scientific magazines a year ago and he didn’t even noticed.
I also gradually decluttered all synthetics in my closet ( all natural fibers left) and all plastic containers and utensils (only stainless steel and silicone left )from the kitchen. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The magazines that I had were more like better homes, and Gardens and travel magazines. That’s why I was able to find so many things that interested me.

I have always been fascinated with the FIRE concept:financial independence, retire early. It's basically working hard for a few years while you're younger, saving & safely investing, eliminating all debt and living very frugally. This allows you to retire much earlier than the traditional age and pursue your dreams. 😊 I did a version of FIRE, retired and it's well worth all the work and planning.
The book "Your Money or Your Life" was a game changer for me.

Do you mind me asking about health insurance? That is the “main”reason my husband and I can’t retire and pursue our dreams. We can’t go without it and we can’t get Medicare until 65.

    • @notyet2345
      @notyet2345 9 днів тому +1

FIRE was the main reason I was able to retire early. Had I not heard about FIRE, I would of been still working full time. I didn't learn about FIRE until I was around 50 yrs old but I was already living a FIRE lifestyle without knowing it. I was able to retire in 2020 at 56 but because of the c-word and I was working from home with good medical insurance, 2020 was not the time too retire because of all the uncertainty. So I waited until 2023 to retire which I didn't mind because I was able to save 78% of my income and I worked from home full time during those 3 yrs I put off retiring because of the c-word.

I’ve gone lots of times without health insurance in my life because I worked for places that didn’t offer it. My husband currently has a job where we have it right now but he just got it. I just use a discount program for medicines and I pay private pay.

I very much enjoyed your video. I can very much relate to feeling closer to God in nature....I too live in the country and love the peacefulness. It allows me to slow down and I talk to God more when I am in nature. I am happy you are finding a peaceful journey as you retire. God bless you!

This is such an amazing conversation. I was brought up my the ocean and that is where my heart is. We moved to TN for the amazing schools my kids attend. FL where we wanted to live does not have as good an education. What is your advice for me to be able to be satisfied with the 5 days a year we go there. Do I start saving now to make a second trip a year. Love your thoughts and creativity when it comes to life ❤

We love Florida as well, and are planning to go in April 2025. Are there things you can explore or experience where you are that are similar to Florida and pretend the ocean is just over the bend? I also used to close my eyes at night and picture the ocean and listen for it as I fell asleep. That helped me not miss it so much.❤️❤️

My husband and I moved from an expensive state and bought a class C motorhome and traveled for a year figuring out what we wanted to do. What we anted to keep, we stored in my parents garage. We settled in rural Kentucky and my husband (a builder by trade ) has built our home. No mortgage. And low low taxes compared to where we came from. We’re 60 and 58 and I can’t imagine being this age and having tons of debt. We know so many people close to retirement age but have so much debt. Ugh !

Yep. We had money from the sale of our home and thought, let’s do this now while we’re young enough to enjoy it. And although we mainly cooked in our rv, when we ate out, it was never any chain restaurants. We loved tasting the regional fare. And loved the out of the way mom and pop shops. Those were the best !

      It’s still possible.
And back in the late 80’s we had even higher home interest rates. I went back to college and had a 1 year old and 3 year old. And I worked 2-3 part time jobs. My husband was full time military and for a year picked up a weekend job so we could stay ahead. We all have to decide what we can and are willing to do to get ahead and stay ahead. Don’t use credit cards and not pay them off. That’s what is a budget buster. You’ll never get ahead owing money every month to banks just in interest. I refuse to do that.

I’ve gone many years without insurance over my career, because working in nursing homes, it was not offered. We have used position concierge groups while we owned our businesses that gave us unlimited office calls and dispensed our medicine at a low cost with telehealth options. They also had contracts with local providers for reduced tests, etc..

@@PenniestoDollars Why are American Christians so ... like they are!? I am sure there has to be a comprehensible reason :chuckles:
Christians elsewhere in the world can get on with being good people and following their faith *without* the need to tell everyone else they are living their lives wrong!
