Nice to see how similar we Indians cook all over the world, slightly minor changes due to country we live in.
I want to add that all Persad's contains sweets like Laddu, Mohanbhog which is also called Halwa!, Lapsi roti - lapsi is the filling and the roti is also called puri (yours are big), Róth - a brown fried thick and sweet roti, Panjiri - dry roasted rice with sugar, Meetha Bhaat, and the panchamrit - milk with 5 ingredients ... all so yummy. Bara's are flat like donuts, some make hole, some don't. We use less ingredients in Suriname and Netherland. Hope you had a blessed Navratri

I’m a Guyanese, from Essequibo Region (Wakenaam) but living in Canada now. The round ones we call polourie & the flat ones we call bara. Thanks again. Stay safe. Happy belated Navratri. Durga Mata’s blessings to u all. 😇🙏😇❤️

Thanks for sharing Guyanese culture and treats. It brings back lots of memories. Much respect for all your efforts to keep the traditions going. Love your supportive family, make sure you learn everything your mom knows, she is a master chef. So many of our young generation have lost the cooking arts of recent past. I mean, they can't even cook roti anymore, they have to buy it. God bless.

O laaawwwdoii!! Lots of cooking.. like I mentioned ❤❤❤ earlier watching your videos really bring bk beautiful memories. I still cook. But smaller amounts. That's Bara yes.. sometimes ppl make it round or flat. Pholourie.. has a little more Peas in it.. thats lapsi.. even though different areas call it halwa.. Real Halwa we get for babies 9th day! Love you guys.. Blessings Always 🙌🙌

You call it sour, we call it mango chutney. You say bara we say pholorie. You say halwa we say lapsee. You say puri we say soparie. I also see you put soft drink in the making of your mohanburg. We don't . We make something called paag,( cowmilk, sugar, grownd spices, ginger). This is added to the ghee and flour or cream of wheat mixed is patched to cook out the flour taste. Sometimes we add raisins or choped almonds nearing the end. But like my grandma say its not the ingredients or the technique. Its the love in your heart for the universal mother. That is what counts.🙏🙏

Bara for me and family is flat about 4 inches across and looks like bake. Round like that we call phulorie, made with grind dhal. We made it like this in Mahaicony River.
But it is all good. Good cooking esp. to your Mom.

hello, our halwa is just like your mohanbhog and our bara is different, we make our bara with urad dhal, necessities 500 grams of black urad dhal and weeks before the evening, then rinse well and grind coarsely. 1kg self-raising flour, 1 tablespoons masala, 1 teaspoon roasted cumin finely ground, 1 bag 7 grams of yeast, 3 cloves of finely ground garlic and salt to taste. watch Vada on UA-cam how it is baked. we eat with mango chutney. And I am originally from Suriname

A rose by any other name smells just as sweet! I'm not sure what you are referring to as poulourie, but what you know as bara looks like what we call pulourie but you all have some additional spices in it. Please do a video making the pulourie so I can see what it looks like. Congrats to you, your family and It's our life Denny and his family for showcasing the beauty of Guyana to the world!.

I am fiji Islands ...our ancestors were brought as indentured labourers the same way as other Indians in Trinidad surinane Guyana Africa Seychelles Mauritius Etc....
In fiji the sweet rice is known as kheer.....the prasad as you call is known as halwa whether its flour or semolina....and the halwa as you call is known as lapsi.... the bara as you call is known as bhajia......bara is a bit different
I guess over the years terminologies have changed....like I see people in Trinindad n Tobago calling haldi or turmeric as saffron ....saffron is different
