Babymetal Trivia: Both Yui and Moa sang lead live on Headbanger for their 15th Birthdays, which are 10 days apart. At the Budokan Red Night performance, Yui fell off the stage during Headbanger; she returned for the next and final song...and Moa fell and hurt herself. Those girls work hard on stage..

Awesome reaction DramaSydE! "Headbanger!" is my second favorite BABYMETAL song, it's about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday. It's quite special because on Yui or Moa's birthdays Su will pass the mic off to let the birthday girl sing the lead. It's pretty awesome when it happens. And don't forget: it ain't over until the skinny girl bangs the gong!
fyi,..the gong at the end is a tribute to X-Japan & if you watch the MV there's also a neck brace tribute to Yoshiki (Drummer-Pianist) X-Japan, who broke his neck bcoz too much headbanging while drumming so he must wore a neck brace to avoid more damage,..this Live performance at Budokan Black Night are good,..but live version in Legend 1997 at Makuhari Messe are more epic,..

both are from the show "X On The Verge Of Destruction" live at Tokyo Dome 1992.
BabyMetal song Akatsuki is a homage/tribute to that both songs. X-Japan is a legend & pioneer in Visual Kei & their style has been inspired so many band around the world. even music industry in japan is divided "Before X & After X" bcoz of their huge influence in japanese music scene.

Hi. Sorry for my English. When people react to BabyMetal they tend to be unaware that in most of the songs they react to, the singer is over 16 years old (1997) and the choristers over 14-15 (1999). I think that is something to value, because at that age I change stickers: D. BabyMetal forever!
Nice reaction. I went to a show in September and while it wasn't a big one off production like live at Budokan, they spit fire the entire set.

I drove from Maine to Charlotte, NC in 2018 just to see Babymetal.
This performance was worthy of a special on the PBS series, "Great Performances."

A lot of people struggle with "Budokan" for some reason.
Even though 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!' is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first rock concert, Su was only fourteen when this was recorded.
It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than attending concerts like the girl in the song.
Both Yui and Moa got to take over on lead vocals on this one for shows near their fifteenth birthdays.
More recently both Su and Moa performed it on concerts close to their 20th birthdays, with a slight lyric change (15 to 20).
The 20th birthday is a very important one in Japan. That's the traditional age of majority in Japan.
There is a photo online of Su in her Furisode, which was grey, black, and white, with an orange Obi, on her Coming of Age Day. Moa's Seijin no Hi will be on January 13, 2020...as her 20th B'Day was after the cutoff for last year's Coming of Age Day. I am sure there will be lots of photos of her in her Furisode soon after.

You get it man, so much energy! Loved them the first time I heard them few years ago. Now been to two of their gigs, 2018 in London (only european gig that year) and this year in Finland, both were a blast, would recommend.
Really hope they do a world tour next year, fingers crossed.

Love your reactions. It's hard to explain the energy of a BABYMETAL concert to people that haven't seen it. The energy likely has to do with what's known as kakegoe (i.e. collective chants that are done at Shinto festivals); BABYMETAL songs incorporate these collective chants and their audience understand when and how to participate. As to their energy, i have the DVD's of their Tokyo Dome performance and the Wembly performance and they manage this level of energy from beginning to the end, which is astounding.
As to the band and this performance specifically, nobody weaves a performance like Babymetal!
I love how the headbanging they do in the beginning of the song that initially makes you think WTF! is the part that through careful buildup is the part that you crave and perfectly resolves the song.
But then, just when you think its over, they give you a split second to feel the loss of it ending and they just take to the next level like only Babymetal can.
When you open your ears, your mind and your heart to Babymetal, you begin to realize that some of their songs are true master works of performance by any measurement. I for one am a proud member of the ONE!
Unfortunately you just recently missed them. Judging from your Patriots banner I'm gonna assume your from Massachusetts, so the closest show to you would have been in Boston on 9/11/19. Hopefully they do another US tour in the later half of 2020 as the earlier portion is already booked for EU and Asia. I strongly suggest you follow through with going to see them live. You will not be disappointed. They are hands down the best live band I've ever seen and the energy at their concerts is insane!!! @DramaSydETV - Unfortunately, they didn't go to NC on this tour (though they did play in Charlotte in 2018). The two closest places they went to this time were Atlanta, and then DC.
I hope they tour the US next year too. I saw them this year at The Forum. All plans for next year are on hold until I know whether they tour the US or not. Sounds a bit extreme but as you have been to a show you probably understand :)
Someone said it's like watching Queen at Wimbley Stadium, the way they connect with the audience. They might be right. These ladies are adored by the fans. And being in their early 20's, I think this is going to continue for a very long time.

I'm 58 and more excited than when I saw Zeppelin in 1979! At 4:56 it was so nice to see you stop and have a WTF moment and an obvious appreciation of how good Su's vocals are, especially after dancing like they do just before she starts suddenly singing like an angel.
