Hike In Lake Overnight on the Appalachian Trail
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- Some friends from church invited me along to do an overnight on the Appalachian Trail. The plan was to hike in 7 miles to a Lake just off the trail and do a bit of fishing for our dinner. Then, hike back down the Appalachian Trail to the car in the morning. Our starting point was up in Monson, Maine.

These videos help me sleep 💤 in a good way ofc
Your one of my favourite adventurers, love the simplicity of your trips and your humour.
Keep it up mate, we need your videos during our intense Lockdown in Melbourne Australia.
Looks like so much fun!! I need a trip like this soon! Them bacon sticks looked delicious! So nice to see Fowlers Pastor out there too! God bless!!
In glad Someone is able to film the outdoors for us. I find when I try to film it's just making it so I'm not living in the moment as much. Great stuff man
I'm living through it vicariously, until I can drive and do it myself
Zach, they are a lot of bushcraft UA-camrs who are getting better at cinematography, but you are still the best!
You're editing is so much better and content. loving your hard work keep it up!
Fowler, this was one of my favorite videos of yours! Amazing!
hi I am from Sweden and I have just started hiking / camping, one of the first proper things I bought was I cold steel shovel and I can honestly say that it is definitely not for hikers who are going far. but I usually walk for 5 to 6 hours and then I set up camp and stay in the same place for 4 to 8 days and in my case I save weight as I combine several tools in 1 I do not need to have an extra ax or knife with me as I can use the shovel for everything so for a hiker it is overkill but for a camper who wants a tool that you have several uses for it's really good. and a tip is if you want to save weight then unscrew the handle and only bring the shovel head as you can use the shovel to make a new handle on place but then you should have some form of screwdriver with you so you can fasten it properly I recommends some form of multi-pliers with a screwdriver in as there are examples that weigh around 100g + you can use the multi-tongs for so much more, so for that weight it is definitely worth taking with you to =)
ya not a long term hikers tool for sure. my biggest problem is all the camera gear. I get to caried away ;)
Worked very well for Fowler on ALONE, just using it the way you describe!
I love the Appalachian trail. It's a tough hike. Hardly any flats on the trail. Good hiking zach. Happy trails! Love this hiking video
I'm watching every episode.✌️👍
Hello! Very nice hiking! It's beautiful lake! And nice fishing! I enjoyed it very much! Very interesting!
Thanks for sharing! Have a nice day!
I watch all of your videos they are amazing keep up the good work
NO WAY! Pq was my youth pastor here in Fayetteville NC before he moved up to Maine! So cool!
As a hiker, I am always amazed at how even a short hike can whip your butt!! You never know what the will throw at you. Of course, being properly trail-ready always helps. The 100 Wilderness...no, have not hiked it yet, but other sections of the AT. Watching this makes me itch to get back on the trail. Waiting for cooler weather...I don't hike well in the summer heat. It sure is pretty there. Thanks so much. Watching every episode.
I am glad you got to spend some quality time with friends and chose to record less. Still turned out to be a great video too.
I just hiked to the Roman Nose Lakes here in Idaho. Beautiful hike & not too hard, but I think I am with you on the hiking adventures. I would rather just plunk myself in the woods & explore there.
Looks like an awesome time! Thanks for sharing
Cracking me up! Cooking a bacon wrapped minnow, fowler you are a hoot!
Hiking is more fun when you're good at it 😜 lol but if I had to choose, I'd choose fishing! Paddling, fishing, camping and cooking over the fire, that's a perfect day!
Can't wait this is going to be a banger
first congrats
Thanks. For the minnow cooking demo.. In college they do it the easy way .. Live goldfish...
I’m so missing going camping or even out doors. Since I had brain surgery I haven’t done a thing outside and this is wonderful to watch. ( and I was born in Rutland as well if u had not seen the last comments)
Just spent two weeks in Maine not to far from Baxter State Park and a week in Warner New Hampshire. So mad had to come back to real life lol so relaxing and quiet.
Bro ur knowledge mixed with ur enteraining commentary is a dope combo. Keep it up
Great video. I grew up just South of there and we camped/fished at multiple mtn ponds a little further North around Moosehead. Our hikes were 1/4 mile or less. ;-) Oh, most of the time you don't want to swim in those remote ponds. Typically they're full of leeches. LOL
Fowler in a week im going to be able to use my slingshot again since my arm broke thiz has been a journey thanks for your videos helped me a lot
Dude for season 4 you should stay in the Daniel Boone National Forest there’s a ton of animals well what I’ve heard and it’s close to civilization and you are free to hunt and camp were ever now it is in Kentucky but you went to Texas so LOL
Red River Gorge! The AT(Sheltowee Trace) runs right through it
The Gorge is awesome
Thank you for all the beautiful scenery. I can only imagine the wonderful smell of the green fresh woods. Wish I was there fishing. Blessings to all. God bless your beautiful girls. Here watching from Puerto Rico.
Tip: dont boil the coffee. Bring the water to a boil and then take off heat and put the grounds in. Let sit a minute to strength and then do the cold water trick.
Neat trick for your coffee but if you mix a whole egg with the egg shell in it, it will pull the grounds to the bottom when you boil it.
You didnt dissapoint, you never do, great video man
Really liked the video! Went outside your comfort zone, but like you said sometimes it’s what you gotta do to enjoy other’s company!
would love to see more content like this.
Bro I’m telling you hit “Little Enchanted “..it’s a hike to a pond in the middle of the mountains in Maine..trout all day..look it up in the gazetteer
Donnie V. Awesome !..great year very nice summer
Donnie V. I’m running a S5 MoB (Mother of Berry)..been working on her for 4 years now..65 gallon no till felt pots
@Donnie V. couple pounds per plant
Great adventure! I enjoy a good hike albeit I'm sneaking up too quick for my liking on 60 and am overweight with a body riddled with arthritis some of the best adventures I've had were hiking in to remote locations with friends and enjoying a few days of primitive camping in the backwoods. Don't be to too quick to give up on a good hiking adventure it will allow you to get to, and experience places, you'd never be able to get to otherwise. ;-)
Fowler, good to see you out with friends. Although videos serve their purpose, it is good to set them aside and live life with a pleasant experience as it presents itself to you. Rich Blessings
Don't normally like hiking/backpacking? I love it!
No reason why this man hasn’t hit one million
amen bro
Ditto!
Puerto Rico USA
Thanks a lot Fowler now every time I see a tree I just about cry because it if full of slingshots that I can't cut because they are owned by the city. 🤣
another great Aventure zack and a beautiful place by the water!!! the hike makes it all more satisfying..
Keep it going let’s see more vids
It was a cool, entertaining video. Good job guys
Hmmmm ... looks like you forgot to pack in some sun screen, Zac. You need to put your war paint on so that your Irish Ginger skin is protected. It is good to see you out getting some exercise.
If you are reading this, remember that we are all born to run. Exhaustive hunting was the way of our tribe. Run easy and dont hurt yourself. Run light on the balls of your feet and try not to leave tracks. With enough practice it all becomes smooth and you run with an exhilarating smile. Easy, Light, Smooth ... run forever.
LOL the Steve clip at the beginning. I love when you add in little snippets like that
Great little video, I wish I had time to do that but my schedule at the hospital has been brutal.
At one of these lakes or ponds you sould build a dock to walk out on useing only whats around u like a good size dock that would be an awsome video i like waching u build stuff then u could fish from it
Thank you Zach I really love watching your videos do this dark time she really shine your light really help me calm down
I’ve Been waiting for a new video bro. Can’t wait to check it out!
Thanks, Zach!
Justin fowler here keep up the good work
Wonderful content
I liked how he used his tripod as a hiking stick, smart
I do the opposite 😉
I also have those crocs!! love wearing them and we wear them the same lol
I wish there was a big love button ❤. This video is so awesome ❤ Awesome adventure!
Thanks for the vid. So awesome to see your adventures. :-)
Great shots
I’m watching every episode.
Good stuff cant wait for the next vid
Hilarious that you kept and ate that minnow. Hey it's still food, lol.
Thank you very much, i love your content.
Definitely that lakes and ponds up there seems so hard to get to I'm currently in Florida and originally from Kentucky and I know here in Florida they might be surrounded by swamps but where I'm from and Kentucky everything has a ledge around it
Thanks for the hike.
Another minty movie my man💯👌🏽
Watching every episode
County roads 🎵
Love your video's 👏🏻♥️
I truly would love to go on an adventure with you Zach... I'd be honored.
Awesome adventures with you guys
Watching with you guys all vidieo s
In the voice of Curly Howard.... look a sardine! nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. ;-)
Cool trip. Nice to see you finally out and about in the outdoors.what a beautiful adventure.must have been a savage hike. I’d figure you’d break 6 miles like nothing.use the pink one, I think fish are color blind huh... classic challenge, nice fire. Good times. A rhoulade huh? Ya figure those other guys would’ve chilled with you a bit more... 😃🍺
Forget the striker use your knife , even if u lose it use a sharp rock , you get a couple sparks in an emergency.
What music do you hikers like if I get a chance to listen to some music when on my hiking trips I always choose music like Delta Parole or Guns N Roses, the rawness is the best with nature.
great video i enjoy your videos they inspire me to do more camping and working on improving my bush crafting skills and so on ps any links to the Telescope fishing rod? god bless you and the family keep up the great work
Should have done a Team challenge - NOBODY leaves until a decent fish was caught
Such a good man sir I can't wait to your next adventure stay safe and healthy
How cool would it be is Zack and Kendall Grey collab 🤯🤩
Got a little sun there bud. Good times in Maine.
That was a fun little video wish you would have caught some fish but it was great video anyways and glad you had fun with your friends and that was a beautiful area you are in and I think maybe if you would have brought a fly fishing rod that would have helped but there was a wonderful video and gorgeous area thank you so much.
Good stuff Zachary 👍
10:40 yo a new pb!! CONGRATS BRO!!!!
I absolutely love your videos they always put a smile on my face, and make me excited to get home from work to watch the new video.
Lovely video. Keep up the good work
Just was up near that area, incredible beauty up that way, Maine is amazing.
For anyone wondering I have the same water filter, called a Grayl and it’s amazing on the trail any spring or steam becomes clean reliable water
Pretty awesome man. Hiking the AT is on my bucket list. Hopefully I can make the thru hike when I get the time to go. Thanks for the adventure.
I know your pack is already heavy, but wouldn't it be cool if someone made a lightweight inner tube type float, you could paddle out and get to whatever water you wanted to. I've fished out of full on belly boats, it's popular for fly-fishing trout in the high Sierra, but they aren't really packable.
Hi Zach, love the vids and keep it up 👍
like you video from Austin tx
As always, a very enjoyable video! Thanks for taking the time to film! Next time you may want to try panther Martin or rooster tail lures
4:18 idk why this made me laugh no rocks to jump off hahahah
U should go do a catch and cook survival series in the Catskill mountains PLEASE
Not sure if I just haven't seen it or if somehow it got lost or if you haven't posted one yet of the 30-day survival challenge day 30 but if it still hasn't come out yet I'm looking forward to seeing it. And always post fun short little videos like this Fowler this is the kind of stuff that I'm sure the rest of your fans including myself will enjoy. Don't sweat doing some major production daily Vlogs would be just as much fun for your fans as your major Productions. So don't always worry about doing a major production but the edits are always fun when you do to them.
That ought to be the name of your boat the bacon-wrapped minnow
Couple Ovens style wizard casts in there . Surprised you didn't pin more fish.
Bacon!
And then I baconed and when we finished bacon everyone woke up to bacon and we spent the day bacon and had some bacon.....bacon is good!
Sounds *BACONY!*
Not going to lie, the MinnowBaconBall looks hella good haha, nice job man
You just made our day soo cheerful, we had great laugh 😆 when watching this video.. especially the fire starting competition lol... thank you Zach for amazing video.. we love Appalachian trail so we are happy that you got little taste of it.
Wow! I thought my legs were white! Lol. Great video man, keep it up!
Id love to do something like this. leave on a friday morning and come back sunday afternoon.
I'd like to leave on a Friday afternoon and never come back
Just do it sometimes qn overnight is all u need
Does anyone else think he should have put more bacon on that minnow
ya at least 4 more peaces don't you thing ?
Fish On!!!!!!
Thanks for another great vid. You use to own goats right? Just a suggestion to check out this guy that uses goats to help pack in and pack out stuff during his overnight camping hikes. This might help out with your 10 mile hike. Just search “firebox stove and goats” and you should see his vids... the goats just follow him and fend food for themselves
