Bald and Banrupt has really helped your subscribers, I found you through him. I am married to a Belarus lady and I am thinking of retiring in the future. Your videos are a really interesting insight. I have visited a few times and it is a lovely country.
Hello from a fellow Irish man, living in Cambodia. Always like to see the Irish perspective on other countries. By our nature we love to travel yet there is not enough vloggers from Éire in other countries. Good job sir 👍
You might like "the good farang " from Samui Thailand .He is a young lad from Dublin who lives half the year in Samui .Or Edward Sweeny ,Liverpool Irish man ,who travells around Asia.
I was hoping to catch up with you while you were back - I'm a mate of your brother's. I was away for a decade in Australia and resonate with some of these points, especially with the 'outsider' perspective. You are bang on the money re: your scepticism of western institutions. Looks like the EU may very well meet the same fate as the FSU. Most unions usually do 😂 keep up the good work 👍
Ты самый счастливый человек!!! Ты видел остатки жизни коммунизма, никто никогда в жизни больше этого не увидит, СССР это легенда!!! Единственно жаль, что мы так и не увидели идеального социализма 😢😢😢
And there's an American joke about "If there's a guy waiting to cross the road and he won't walk across because he has a red light but there's no cars in sight, what is he?" Answer: "A Canadian." We don't Jay walk either and we're mad about winter sports.
Actually, Kuybysheva street was sort of refurbished several years ago, and they added that crosswalk and lights near the Riga shopping center because people were jaywalking all the time there, including myself once or twice :)
I have just subscribed on 23, May. The reason was your "chance" encounter w/ Bald. I have sent the jury off for the time being. If I have any opinions or comments, I'll not make them till said jury returns. ( One question: any skiing (downhill with lifts and minimal infrastructure?) Regards, FINN.
Would love to but problems in that a) restaurants are dark so filming can be problematic. b) some restaurants are wary of bloggers. c) music in the background causes problems with UA-cam vis-a-vis copyright.
Partisan, I am most curious. When you return to Ireland do you feel the tension and stress constantly in other people? I went to Vitebsk for the first time in 2013. After spending some time there, I returned on a flight from Minsk to Frankfurt Germany planning to catch my overseas flight to Chicago USA. Walking the corridor I noticed a great stress and tension I had never felt before. It came from people all around me. In my return trips in the years since. That stress and tension turns both on and off like a light switch. Right there in that same corridor. It depends upon what direction I am traveling. Here at home the stress and tension among people is thick enough to cut with a knife. I never noticed that until I left and returned the first time.😁 I thought it was within me. But other travelers sense that as well. I was curious if you did? Thanks😊
Yes, same experience. A reason I kept going back. Also in my home country I had a negative view about the future and didn't want children and that changed in Belarus.
@@IrishPartizan Thanks, that leads me to another question then. Now that you live in Belarus fulltime for several years. Do you feel the " Rat Race" over there? Thanks
From one expat to another, it warms my heart to hear you enjoy cursing in another language. Only a mick would remark upon it and consider it cultural enrichment. Of course the jaywalking will always mark u out as being from the home country. Go neirigh an bothar leat
Hi man. Could you please clarify what you mean by becoming more skeptical of NATO / European Union? I'm originally from Latvia, so very used to Eastern European culture. Lived most of my life in Ireland. I have an appreciation for both, and I'm sure there's much to fall in love with in Belarus. But at the end of the day, Belarus is an authoritarian country with its government not being too keen on freedom of press. I'm sure you're able to live a good life there and it's not as bad as for example China, but the fact remains, no? Wondering what your take on this is. Thanks.
No freedom of press is just a cliche. 2 the most popular internet portals oppose Lukashenko in literally everything and they are in perfect shape, they have offices in the center of the city, run their business, pay taxes and so on. Nobody's even trying to do or say something about that.
Could you do a video about the smoking in cafes and restaurants? On my last visit (and as a smoker from Cork, Ireland) I felt I was in paradise being able to have a glass of beer accompanied by a ciggie
Great video! I would trust Putin over any western leader. Anyone who goes to Minsk will fall in love. Women are the best looking I have ever seen and are also very approachable and down to earth. Kind and friendly people. God bless Belarus 🇧🇾
Lukashenko is a man of the people more than his bourgeois counterpart for his actually democratic state has a social oriented market economy and the remnants of the Soviet Republic intact, however the Union State of Belarus and Russia, which would not erase the former nation-state, is not a bad idea as long as there is responsibility in regards to the Russian Federation of welfare benefits and laws against predatory free market practices. Socialism is the solution though.
You seem the kind of knowledgeable guy who would always have been sceptical of the Western Media rather than it taking a move to Belarus to change your perception of it and it's right wing agenda.
@@MarriedToTheKGB You can sometimes bribe police officers in Belarus. But its very irregular. Our police is constantly monitored and they loose their work(and get black mark) really fast if caught.Same for small time officials.

Going back to Belarus this summer. Cant wait. Beautiful country and wonderful people!
Even dogs and cats dont jaywalking here ))) They go to pedestrian crossing, seen it myself numerous times.

I found out a lot about Belarus from your video.
Found this channel because of Bald and Bankrupt! Looks good so far.
In most homes across Europe and North America people are expected to remove their shoes. I'm surprised people don't do that in Ireland.
Its a tradition in Ireland too, I always take my shoes off always when entering a house.
This is in Germany the same . Nobody is Jaywalking. Maybe in the Night.
It's because of the kids.
