[Journal Club!] Sesquizygotic Twins: Science Fiction or Real Life? (Intriguing & sparks curiosity)

Hi there! I'm Prerak - a resident at Stanford and today, I wanted to share a really interesting video about a paper I just read recently. The source is linked below!
Brief insight into this video: Sesquizygotic twins are a super rare type of twins that fall somewhere between identical and fraternal! Imagine siblings who share almost all their mom's DNA like regular twins, but for dad's DNA, it's like a mix-and-match game. They share most of it, like 78 out of 100 pieces, but not all! It's like each twin used a different set of building blocks from dad's DNA toolbox.
Even though it's super rare, it's a cool reminder that everyone's DNA is like a unique fingerprint, and even for twins, it can be a little different! fingerprint It shows how amazing and special each person is, built with their own set of building blocks from mom and dad. Everyone deserves to be celebrated for their unique differences, even if they have a special twinning superpower like being sesquizygotic!
