There was a Deer (Doe) named Julie at the petting zoo where my sister-in-law worked that befriended a stray dog that wondered in one day that they later named Freddy. That deer and that dog were side by side for 6 years! I used to love to go help out at the petting zoo just to watch Julie and Fred run around playing together. When the Dog died Julie the Deer became withdrawn and wouldn't let kids at the park pet her anymore. She still showed affection for the staff that took care of her, but never let the public who came through pet her anymore. She lived for only about 1 year after Fred the dog died... she was only 11 year old. We think she just gave up. We have had other Deer at the park live to be 20 years old, average is about 15. I always use that story as evidence when I hear someone say animals don't have feelings.
Jimi Jones Yes, not only do I have photos of Julie and Freddie together, my sister-in-law who worked at the petting zoo has a bunch of home movies on VHS of them, as well as all the animals at the park. The pairing of a Deer and a Dog even got them a nice little write up in the paper back in the mid 90's.
We already know dogs feel love, apparently they have the emotional range of a 3 year old I think it was. They feel almost everything that we feel except for embarrassment, regret and those types of emotions.
HockeyFan13 Not to argue or anything, but regret could be something a dog feels, I only say that because I had a Brittany Spaniel named Annie for 18 years. She was a very intelligent well trained dog, but a very emotional dog. She would cry if a lot if someone didn't come home when she expected them to (such as one of us was working overtime or something)... she would cry for hours when the kids went to school and so on. If someone was out of the house she would get SUPER excited every single time she heard a car thinking that the person was coming home- and would bow her head and cry when the passing car didn't turn down the driveway. But back to the regret thing- this could be an example of doggy regret I guess (lol) but anyhow I remember she was playing with one of the kids one time and in the excitement she accidentally bit one of the boys- my boy said owww and started to cry... she went over into the corner and laid down and cried!! After that she seemed to always be extra special nice to him, and would never play with the toy again that they had been playing with when that happened. Now did she really feel regret?? Who knows, it may have just seemed that way. That story just popped into my head when I read your comment. It may all be just coincidence. Like I said it just seemed that way. My God that dog was super emotional though!! She had 3 puppies one time and I remember after we sold the puppies how she cried for what seemed like forever- and then she took a bunch of stuffed animals and would sleep with them, take care of them, would bring them to the food bowl when she would eat- she did that for months after. I've never had a dog before or since that was so emotional.
Wow, if more humans could learn from the kindness, acceptance and love demonstrated by these animals of one another! Our world would be such a beautiful place!
What a beautiful story! We humans could learn a lot about friendship from these guys. Animals can overlook their differences and become great friends, which is more than I can say for people.
I remember seeing the documentary about the lion adopting the antelope, it was pretty mind blowing watching the lioness fight off instinct there were a few scenes she started going to suffocate it then stopped herself, in the end other lions killed the antelope anyway, incredibly emotional stuff
Animals do not judge and discriminate. They respect other kinds and nature around them. Even the most fearsome predators kill only when they have to, for finding foods and to survive. We human have done some kind things sometime, but history has shown us that we are the worst thing ever happen on earth.
FlyingWhale Not, only to survive. A lot of animals kill each other for territory and dominance. For example, male lions kill babies borned from another father e.t.c.
Ok, the antelope actually constantly tried to escape the lioness and eventually died because the lioness wouldn't allow it to eat. But there are plenty of legitimate examples of animals pairing up. I once opened my apartment door to find my cat *Zeke face to face with a racoon, a crow, a squirell and a duck. They were all equidistantly spaced from each other and were taking their time closely inspecting the other animals. God I miss that cat. RIP Zeke.
I simply LOVE this...a lion with an oryx baby??? a crow and a kitten?? well there will be a reason...we have seen the hippo and giant tortoise in Africa, the hippo was orphaned and washed up after that tsunami, it was placed with a similar sized animal..the tortoise, they really became exvellent friends looking out for one another, imagine the dismay when the baby hippo grew and it was decided that it should go off with its own hippo herd and was taken from the tortoise...the tortoise was really really saddened and showed signs of depression, the hippon had o learn to be part of the hippo scene but it was sad to see them parted.
I just think this proves that animals are like humans, we just are not told that. Some are more evil, some are more good. Some lion would kill that "dinner", some cat would attack that crow. But these guys don't. They are curious, but good personality. :)
The saddest thing: the lioness did not know how to feed the antelope, and the little animal starved to death. There was a documentary on this sometime ago. The lioness was separated from her pride and found the isolated antelope and clung to it, but was unable to provide for it.
Beautiful video. Also, orangutans usually do not swim, and most orangutans are afraid of water. I was very surprised to see the orangutan swimming, more than I was to see it with the dog. Orangutans are very good natured primates and like humans. They are my favorite animals/primates and I like dogs. Orangutans are famous for their fear of water. They have high body density and can't help sink. They are such lousy swimmers til many zoos stopped putting moats around the enclosures.
With the lion and the antelope baby... very sweet from one perspective. OR it could mean that the lions have evolved and are developing a means of raising game.
The message from this is we have no differences everyone is like each other we shouldn't fight and have wars we should work together to fight bigger threats like cancer
-.- A lion doesn't just attack every living thing. Just like humans don't. We only do what we find necessary for our survival. The lioness had no reason to eat it. It's not a message from gawd, it's common sense.
+Fruit Climber i agree, i love all animals, and insect life, rich in diversity, we seems to think that we are the only ones with empathy! thats why i am a vegan
I think humans are the best example of making bonds with of other species. The problem is, we somehow think we're above or separate from nature, not part of it, so when "regular" animals of different species bond, we see it as different. But I agree that it is a beautiful story and that we need more tolerance, acceptance and love in this world.
Hi, it was actually part of a National Geographic documentary I saw on TV and it showed that as the lioness couldn't feed it, it starved to death and so she took another baby. Very sad for the lioness, the baby and the mothers of the two calves. The poor little thing kept trying to go back to find its mother buthe lioness kept herding it away. Life is so sad at times. Appreciate you contacting me:)
classic american TV selectively choosing the bit about "god" and "loss" in the lioness and oryx story. Absolutely fascinating story, unbelievable, but darker than it was made to seem here. The lioness was actually kind of keeping it "captive." (this is not me saying it, the woman doing the show said this in other parts of the show.) It couldn't feed the oryx and it just following it and preventing it from going off on its own. It did have some genuine attachment to it and when the calf was killed by a lion, she seemed "upset" about it, but yeah, it was a very confused, muddled relationship. She actually did it again with another calf after this! crazy stuff...
jamesdalebozeman Humour and sarcasm don't seem to be your strong points do they? Then again, what your post says about you doesn't make this fact at all surprising.
jamesdalebozeman Deary me!.. I wouldn't believe it if I wasn't reading it right now. Whoa... Well, I guess in your condition one can only hope for a godly miracle to happen.
Awe so cute ;) to be fair though the antelope didn't want to be with the lion there was a documentary about it and it kept trying to escape and the lion was starving herself since she had to watch the antelope all day
@tshirttime84 What they mentioned in that documentary was that it was a male lion that killed the calf. Whether she noticed it or not, she was no match for an adult male lion, especially because she hadn't eaten in a while. She ended up "adopting" a few more calves, but none lasted as long as the first. That what the documentary said anyway...
The calf was killed by a Lion from another Pride. After the calf was killed, that lioness adopted another 5 calves. She watched after those 5 calves until they died due to lack of nutrition. Although, the lioness did feed on another adult antelope after the first calf was deceased.
I can appreciate odd pairings, but the lion and the little deer-like creature just defies the laws of nature. Is the lion keeping it on hand until she gets hungry? Oh no!
Another lion killed the calf, a male lion which the lioness did not dare to battle. She adopted many calves afterwards, but either the calves did not receive the milk they needed or they fell prey to other predators.

Frienship between a primate and a dog unusual? Then what do humans and dogs have if it isn't frienship? Because we are primates
I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought that :)
Aww. The orangutan hugging the dog is so cute! He's smiling as if declaring the dog is his super best friend!
"Friendships truly know no boundaries...." Priceless video!!
LOVE IT
Thank you, thank you, thank you my friend. I appreciate your message. :))
is so adorable to see that animals do have emotional needs even at an adult age! so cuuuute!
They are like us they love, they feel and they are alive
Doc antle?? Have we learned nothing from Tiger King?!
"I have eyes that can get me to 125th street - maybe." - Patrice had such a unique way of describing life's little circumstances.
Yes, I wish for loads of people to learn from this! :)
I remember seeing the documentary about the lion adopting the antelope, it was pretty mind blowing watching the lioness fight off instinct there were a few scenes she started going to suffocate it then stopped herself, in the end other lions killed the antelope anyway, incredibly emotional stuff
The most pure genuine friendships on the planet will always be that of animal friendships
The orangutan cracked me up xD
Captn Morgan That was so hilarious! Wish I had a friend like that, an orangutan
He cracked me up!
Cant't get enough of stories like this. That makes the difference between animals and humans...
I love this video so much. So sweet and kind. Way better than how humans treat each other. Animals rule!
One thing I did notice is that lioness looked thin to be a lioness. What were they feeding her?
Unbelievable! Love knows no bounds.
This is real friendship!! For humans, we compare people with looks or race and how their born with. We all need to learn this
Animals do not judge and discriminate. They respect other kinds and nature around them. Even the most fearsome predators kill only when they have to, for finding foods and to survive. ***** What you described makes me think of humans more than animals.

This my friend is some true 720 HD quality.
this is a really nice, sweet video and all you can come up with is the video quality? what a douche
nycjin816 Well to be fair, it's tough to enjoy a video that was filmed with a potato.
Rachel Tibbs
ohh...the ol' filmed with a potato/toaster/remote control...that's so original and hilarious...never gets old, ever
My DICK never gets old. Now come sit on it.
Gaston LeGume GASTON TAKES NO SHIT!
This is so wonderful to see!
Love this stuff can watch it for hours!!

The big lesson is that we all can co-exist peacefully and get along just fine. May God Bless All of Us! 😃👍🏻🇺🇸
It's not a question defying laws of nature, this is Nature !
I just think this proves that animals are like humans, we just are not told that. Some are more evil, some are more good. Some lion would kill that "dinner", some cat would attack that crow. But these guys don't. They are curious, but good personality. :)
The lioness is just saving it for later.
That is the cutest thing! That deer and lion is almost heart stoping!
The monkey is so funny, I can't stop laughing. . .he's totally showing off. . .lol. . .he just falls straight back. lol.
The saddest thing: the lioness did not know how to feed the antelope, and the little animal starved to death. There was a documentary on this sometime ago. The lioness was separated from her pride and found the isolated antelope and clung to it, but was unable to provide for it.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL.
now's the time when i wish youtube also included a "love" button.
Humans can learn from these amazing animals (:

Lion and the deer? That's just a packed lunch :-)
My message is do simply enjoy, this video makes me smile !! Thank you for showing, ABC news.
holy crap that orangutan is toooo effing adorable! so playful and happy :)
The dog and monkey are because monkeys are like humans and the stray dog didn't see animal it saw human/owner and the monkey saw a animal in need/pet
Bounding is so strong and that matters;*)
"Love has no Limits" :)
The lioness is just waiting for the antelope calf to grow bigger.
The monkey and dog is not unlikely trust me. There are a bunch of apes with dogs in my neighborhood.
DuffusTheTroll XD
Trust me that lioness is just waiting till that antelope gets a little older and has more meat on her bones.
friendship is magic and with proof!
It's just plain & simple friendship. Nothing more, nothing less.
With the lion and the antelope baby... very sweet from one perspective. OR it could mean that the lions have evolved and are developing a means of raising game.
The lion and the antelope: either she's adopted it.... or she's farming it.
The lion is practicing self control. Waiting until the antelope gets fatter :)
The dog and the Ourang Utang is just too cute
God is showing us that we can love each other no matter what we look like
No only did the lion's killer instinct not kick in, but the antelopes fleeing instinct did't kick in either.
The message from this is we have no differences everyone is like each other we shouldn't fight and have wars we should work together to fight bigger threats like cancer
I sooooo love this. U have to see the commercial its toooooo cute
i like the words "go against nature to love"
The lion is, of course, waiting him to grow up... lol
I see often different bird species that live together. There is a small flock of crows and gulls that are always together very close to my home.
"Law of Nature" thing was just something made by humans. Animals can just love who they want :)
This is just great! Enjoy.
-.- A lion doesn't just attack every living thing. Just like humans don't. We only do what we find necessary for our survival. The lioness had no reason to eat it. It's not a message from gawd, it's common sense.
the lion just waited till his "baby" is big ^^
Dog: I'm just here
Orangutan: *I love you* 👁👄👁
By definition it doesn't 'defy the laws of nature' because it happened.
Animals are so interesting!

Another lion ate the antelope, this lioness has done this more than once
My favorite is the crow and the cat. Crows are known to be very intelligent
I feel like if orangutans were people--- they would be the funniest kinds. Maybe a comedian. they are so light hearted and gentle
I Can't Imagine If One Of Them Stay At Different Place.
That dog got jungle fever.
Even on NatGeo, an American TV programme can't seem to last a couple of minutes without some reference to gods.
You don't live in America, do you?
jamesdalebozeman I'm astonished, how did you guess?
jamesdalebozeman Humour and sarcasm don't seem to be your strong points do they? Then again, what your post says about you doesn't make this fact at all surprising.

Awe so cute ;) to be fair though the antelope didn't want to be with the lion there was a documentary about it and it kept trying to escape and the lion was starving herself since she had to watch the antelope all day
Yeah I read this thing that some type of primate, don't remember, but it will find a lost dog and care for it as its own
lol i can imagine the the antelope being super scared of the lion then after a while she thought "fuck it then, whats for dinner mom?" xD
This is so sweet and neat.. and well this is no different then humans having animal companions.. I mean after all we're animals too =]
0:36 - 0:39 - Orangutan looks like she's thinking, "I will love him and pet him and call him George."
We do not deserve dogs
It's proven love obviously has no bounds, love or friendship.
My dog Cindy loves Cats, but every time she tries to play with them, they run away, and then she is disappointed.
как приятно смотреть такие видео =)
IF THESE GUYS COULD FORGET ABOUT THEIR DEFFERENCES WHY CANT WE DO THAT ???!!!!

O_O The orangutan has a life vest on? TOO CUTE.
I think it just shows how much better animals are then people
hungry lion adopts antelope: and we only value animals for their usefulness to man, because we believe they haven’t a soul
Believe what you will - It was a fascinating video - Food for thought
The calf was killed by a Lion from another Pride. After the calf was killed, that lioness adopted another 5 calves. She watched after those 5 calves until they died due to lack of nutrition. Although, the lioness did feed on another adult antelope after the first calf was deceased.
This exactly why I love animals so much... :0)
It's all about love.

who the hell would dislike something like this?..
