Judas Priest are the pioneers of heavy metal. The quintessential Metal Gods. With the exception of Black Sabbath, they are the beginning. Particularly the look. Halford’s vocals are amazing. The later 70s and early 80s are a staple. All other metal bands were heavily influenced by Priest. Thanks for reacting
Thanks Lady for reacting to this Legendary song from 1976. , Judas Priest is a never ending trip, soon to turn 50th anniversary. Is actually a "Fusion" of two song and Both are Victims I think. You must react Judas Priest "Beyond the Realms of Death" (1977) A beautiful Ballad.*
This song and band are the force of what became Heavy Metal. Halford took the scream from hard and heavy rock of bands like Deep Purple and Led Zep, and in time fashioned it with the band with twin guitars and then introducing the leather and studs. This song from 76 was a mix up of 2 songs and they are in their mixed up together. This song is ground breaking as its place in time and what was to come as a result of this and Priest ! Judas Priest pathed the way ! It's great to see you go back and discover this band so you can see for yourself how Hard Rock became Heavy Metal . Thanks for sharing ! The Armchair Head Banger \m/ \m/
What you probably heard from Judas Priest on the radio rotation play was "Breaking the Law" and "Living after Midnight " if you are listening to a classic rock station.
thanks, nice seeing a cute young lady enjoying the music i grew up with, this album was 1976, it was rob halford singing ,seeing them live is such a awesome thing, ive seen them live at least 3 times, rocked the house every time :)
Well first of all Judas Priest is a British rock band so didn't get a lot of airplay in America until they "broke into America" and became an arena headlining band with "Screaming For Vengeance" in 1982 and by then they had solidly defined themselves as a "Metal Band" and metal just didn't get that much airplay on radio. Where metal did shine was in the advent of MTV with their metal shows like the Headbangers Ball and metal from all over the world got airplay to fill out the TV format.
You would not have heard this song on commercial radio. They only had a handful of commercial hits. From the songs you have reacted to so far you can see how they have evolved so i would not attempt to pinhole them or compare to other bands. They are just a tremendously talented band so pleased to see you are enjoying catching up with them. Loads more to discover
The songs you've probably heard by them could be "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight" imo. These two are more radiofriendly; simpler, shorter, easily-digestable and fun hard rock songs.
I knew this was a long song when you started watching it, congrats for making it all the way through! I think one of their better songs of the 70s (sorry not 80s like you think a lot of voices sound like, lol)
Great reaction I'm glad that you got to hear this Metal Master classic. As other reactors have said the two songs that you probably have heard are breaking the law and living after midnight. Off the 1980 album British Steel. Breaking the law is an extremely short song. So you could probably react to these two songs together. they have other radio songs that you can still react to after that. Like heading out on the highway and turbo lover.
It's not so strange you haven't heard them, the recordcompanys more or less killed generous, highly professional music mid/late 80's. "Was too good for the masses".
Didn't PayPal use to have a "buy-me-a-coffe" button? Okay, so that's only a buck or so at a time, but a thousand coffees, besides making you more trembly than you already are, is still a thousand bucks. You also could reach the Guinness Book Of Records as the first woman being pregnant of a giant coffee-bean. There's money in there somewhere, too.
the dept if this band is amazing. check out here comes the tears. Robs best vocal performance in my opinion. There a massive difference in progression of the band through the years. Almost 50 of them
They were heavy metal, which the 80s was the satanic panic then. People painted metal as evil and only for deviants. They did have Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, Youve got Another thing coming were radio plays.
Part three of my unsubstanciated contribution: 'Victim Of Changes' is one of the songs that was written with the original singer (Al Atkins), who left the band just before studio recordings were made for the first album (1973' Rocka Rolla). A few songs to which Atkins had contributed landed on the Priest's second album (1975's Sad Wings Of Destiny), but these songs were slightly adapted by new singer Robert Halford althought the structure of the song remained more or less the same. The record company (Gull Records), for lack of a better word, in finacial distress, didn't have the funds to provide a decent recording studio for "Sad Wings" nor did they have any means to promote the album. As a consequence, "Sad Wings Of Destiny" remained just that: a sad ending to a promising career because of no distributor for the record. But, Deep Purple bass player Roger Glover heard the Priest lads and heard something in the lot and wanted to produce them. Alas, that's a story for when you get to 1977 and the Priest release their third album "Sin After Sin". A title that should be right up yer alley, eh?...

Say, béhbéh, there's not such a thing as 'classic rock'. Twenty years ago 'classic rock' was things like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, The Who and other Animals. Now i'ts Deep Purple, Budgie, UFO, Van Halen and some such. It's just a moniker for music current deejays don't have a name for. Music they don't understand because they've been brainwashed to only play and listen to what the big music companies pay them to listen to or play on their stations. That's in fact the way things have been going for the last fourty years. So, good luck with your "classic rock". Everything not Jazz, Blues, Classical or Opera is rock. Metal is a sub-genre of rock. Speed-metal is a sub-genre of rock. Every kind of metal is a sub-genre of rock music. You can still devide sub-genres into styles, sure, but "classic rock" would still not be amongst those. Gather some fist-sized rocks in a basket and march-off towards the local radio station and demand the term Classic Rock will never ever be used in your vicinity or their windows are gone. They can call 'em "classic windows" from then on... Gone, but hardly forgotten.

"You've Got Another Thing Coming" from 1982 is probably their biggest hit and was played on the radio quite a bit.

all the songs were long back then by many bands and the songs morphed.
