In this video, I go through my flush day for plants in semi hydroponics. I flush the pots with water and replace the nutrient water. I also talk about pest prevention and tips and tricks I've learned through my experience with semi hydro. I am NOT an expert, this process just works for me.

I followed your plant conversion to the T and I never experienced any pothos death, as a matter of fact mine thrived. The three plants I started with 7 months ago (neon, marble queen, and devil's ivy) are now 12 plants. I had to divide them because they were getting so big...plus I've been propagating all the cuttings so now I'm over run with pothos. I forgot to mention my scindapsus exotica, that sucker is HUGE and I created a full plant from its cuttings. I've also converted my prayer plants, following your instructions, and they are doing fantastic and thriving. I can keep going with all the different plants I have converted and how great they are doing but I've I don't want to bore you :) Anyway, having said all that, thank you for creating the content that you do and for giving me the inspiration and the proper guidance that made my journey to passive hydro not only enjoyable but immensely successful.

I learned so much from you when I first started passive hydroponics -7 months ago, and I love it/my plants love it! I also do my flush days about once/month now that my plants are stable, but it doesn’t feel like work to me because it gives me a moment to appreciate each plant. My plants and I thank you! (P.s. my mature variegated monstera albo finally just started putting out its first new leaf since I transitioned it 6 months ago and I was just as excited as you were in your Birkin video when I saw it emerge) 🤣😊

So happy I watched this video. I got my nutrient mix down but was having issues putting large plants into LECA. Trash bag and water reservoir thanks for the tips! All of my plants are in LECA and loving it!
When you have a ton of houseplants, and you don’t want to have to fret as much over pests, I think S/H in Leca is the way to go. Over the last three years I’ve been struggling with fungus knat and spider mite infestations. Potting in Leca minimizes pest outbreaks and simultaneously makes treating plants for pests easier. Thanks for the videos!
This seems so straightforward. Less guess work than soil.
I recently converted my plant to leca because I was inspired by you! They are doing so much better than they were in soil. I had the same issue with finding pot without drainage holes as well, instead I just brought Gorilla waterproof tape to cover the holes. Works well for me! Hopefully this can help you as well :)
Heh I don't have planters with drainage holes available either since I tend to only buy planters when I need it for a particular plant. Thanks for the tip though! :)
Great idea to cover holes, I have so many cool pots I’ve drilled holes in and now want to use for leca! I considered tape but didn’t think it would work, I’ll pick some up tomorrow

The way you do it looks easy. I am gradually changing over my plants to leca, but it hasnt been easy for me so far. I have lost a few plants so I am experimenting on what works better to transition my plants to the leca life. I go back & look at your videos to refresh the process.

I love semi hydro, to me it’s so much less work! The beginning converting a plant is work, but it’s so worth it. You’re right once you have a routine going it’s literally no big deal

Also bonus- you never have to worry about over or under watering a plant. The guesswork is gone when the plants are in leca! It’s dummy proof once you learn all the nutrients and ph stuff
so it looks like when you have a lot of plants leCa maintenance would require more than i would be doing for my plants in soil. then again this process is everything: water, nutrition, humidity, pest prevention. 🤔 maybe i'll start with one or two. ficus looks great! maybe u could do it in the shower as it grows? or out in the yard?

I flush most of my plants in the shower or in summer outdoors and clean their leaves as well that way.
You are the reason I have converted most of my plants to leca. They are thriving so much better than in soil. I thank you for your most informative videos. I’m curious to know if you converted your million hearts dischidia to leca. I bought one after seeing your video and it’s adorable. I want to change it to leca but wanted to see what you think.
Yay I'm happy to hear that your plants are thriving! I don't think I will convert mine any time soon because its in a tiny pot and I'd have to refill the reservoir way too often because of that. If you convert yours, let me know how it goes!

So I was wondering how to approach flushing a large plant! That part seems challenging if you have a bunch of them. But you have inspired me to start out small. Can you save the flush water and use that to water other plants that are in soil?

If you're comfortable with soil, you don't have to make the switch!
So are you only using the nutrient water when you flush and just use regular water the other times. Am I correct? What was the name of the spray again and where can I get it?

Hi!! I’m converting my plants to semi hydro and they all are seeming to do fine except my monstera, which is weird because I’ve read they’re one of the easiest to convert. Three leaves turned bright yellow as soon as I put in the nutrients. Not going to lie, I’m shook. Did you experience this or do you have any recommendations on what I should do?

I just converted some propogations into LECA. I have heard you say you wouldn’t recommend growing directly in a glass container. I am wondering how hard it will be to flush in a glass jar

The fiddle leaf fig tree was converted when it was already big? Looks like it adjusted well to leca
What temperature do you use for rinsing? Or at least between warm and cold what do you use?

I converted most of my 130+ to semi hydro and they are doing well. This morning whilst looking at them I noticed some mealy bugs, ugh. Is there anything that I could add to my water mixture to combat this or will it be alright if I spray them with insecticidal soap and give them a good rinse after?

Maybe a dumb question, but what actually happens when you dont flush your semi hydroponics? Sorry i'm new to leca, but very intrigued and interested in maybe converting some of my plants (probably a monstera, just to be safe) to try it out :)
In that case, the salt/nutrient concentration would be incredibly high since I don't use an ebb and flow system. Good luck!
I might have missed it, what nutrients are you using? I've been using Dyna grow foliage pro on my semi hydro recently and it seems to be doing quite well

so it's okay if the roots touch water? for some reason I thought the water level had to be just above the roots
A self watering pot with soil is so much easier. Add water once every 2 weeks. No other actions needed. The self watering pots even have gages that show the water level.
You always make the process look simple. And it really is. It’s basically watering twice a month. Have you found any plant yet that does not do well in LECA. And thanks for sharing your tips!!
