Fungus gnats feed on bark so I use Miracle Grow soil for indoor plants I also filled up all of my previously potted plants. Voila! No more nasty gnats and the soil is nice and light so my plants grow crazy in it!
the decorating plant pots with a macrame cord is such a great idea! I gave it a go and I love it! Only I decided not to glue it to the pot itself, but rather made it like a sleeve kind of pot cover, so I can switch things round :) Love it!
For the price you pay for liquid gold leaf, you could get another fertiliser that doubles up as a plant systemic too which kills pests. Highly recommend SB plant invigorator. It’s cheaper than liquid gold leaf. It’s a liquid concentrate feed/foliar feed too. Haven’t had pests since starting using it more than a year ago
Not to be too skeptical but is that really a thing? I feel like what makes up a fertilizer and what makes up a pesticide are two different things. It sounds like those 2-in-1 shampoo + conditioner products that don't really do a good job because they combine two products that don't have the same function
We use it to treat all the plants that come in from the nursery at the store I work at. Having used most things, SB really does work for pest control and the nutrients can be absorbed via leaf so plants tend to grow more consistently and healthily with it.
Hi. Love your videos! I've only recently come across them and haven't gotten around watching them all yet, but I'm working on it! 😊 I'd like to see a video about where and how you store all your plant accessories, such as growing media, nursery pots, and any other plant perifernalia. Apologies if you have already recorded it and I just haven't done my homework properly, in which case, would you mind sending me a link? Thank you so much and take care.
Thanks for this! I struggle with humidity...I'm in Canada. My apartment with 2 humidifiers running throughout the winter I can keep my humidity between 45 and 55 % My plants have adapted. The ones that require the highest humidity I keep close to the humidifiers. Summer is very different here but I struggle on the winter. Thank you for the info on predatory mites too
I love your idea for ‘fancying-up’ your nursery pots! I’ve been trying to save money by using terracotta pots and saucers and painting them with little ‘match pots’, which is cheaper than China pots, and I did enjoy the craft aspect, but I’m off to buy macrame cord and a glue gun right away! 😀
Woah you balled out on the acrylic shelves i did the conversion and you paid $20cad per unit and you bought 14 units thats $280cad or £168 thats wild p.s $4cad is aprox £2.33
SUPERTHRIVE!! that stuff is so great. it helps a lot to reinvigorate struggling plants and can be reallyyyy diluted so you can give extra nutrients but don't accidentally overfeed. Also it is very economical and can be used on any type of houseplant or garden plants/crops. I like it better than seaweed or fish fertilizer which had tinted some of my delicate plants' leaves brown before.
Hello Claire, don't you worry about your plant holders on windows, worried they would lose suction and fall? thank you for your great videos and tips 😊❤
Love those stick on window box things! I use cord/rope around baby formula containers to dress up for use as outer pots, yes I totally agree that cache pots are very expensive! Take-out clear cups with dome lids are fantastic for propagating,I use cake cooling racks to put over a small bucket to collect water,as I reuse it on other plants, being doing it for years without any issues! That was a great video Claire! Natalie 💚🪴
Love all your rec’s, especially the shower shelves and mister… I had a mister like that but it broke quickly.. I think i will try again, though, because i really did like it a lot.. ooooo.. also love the oven grate idea… ty so much for all of these great tips.
I do have the same Levoit humidifier, overall very happy with it except for one thing. My tap water is on the hard side and this is where my problem is. Because of the water the humidifier fills my flat with a white fog, as well as all my surfaces including plant leaves, being covered with white dust which I have to clean every three to four days. A solution is to use distilled water, but the cost of buying 6 litres of the water every day is just too much. Apparently this is a problem with all ultrasonic humidifers. I will soon scrap the Levoit for an evaporative humidifier which does not have this problem!
I use the humidifiers of Stadler Form. It has multiple filters and essential just works with a fan above a cold water tank. The water evaporates naturally without any mist. Maybe this works for you as well? I have had it for years (to keep my piano happy) but now my growing plant collection benefits from it as wel.
Yes if it's about to be or is spring where you live then yes, I mean I believe in fertilizing year round because I keep the conditions in my home the same year round but I know alot of people don't believe in this....especially if your using like 6 month fertilizer....spring is the best time!!!! Hope this helps!!
Hi, thank you for lovely videos and sharing your knowledge! I'm wondering about buying humidifier, however I have a cat and I read it's bad for them. Any thoughts? I'll appreciate it! :)
I love your channel! Thanks for all this amazing info. Wondering if I could also you a question? I have a sweet little dubia cutting in a perlite prop box on a seed warming mat and grow light. Was doing beautifully in the box so I thought she'd be ready to transfer to a board. (She had several long 1.5 inch roots and even two additional baby leaves uncurling). So I transferred her to the plank, had her lower portion wrapped in damp moss, but then I came in the next morning to her baby leaves brown and dying. I quicky put her back in the prop box but wondering how to properly transfer prop box babies to their next homes??
From what I know, you can acclimatize them by gradually lowering the humidity, whether that means opening the prop box from time to time to reduce humidity, or put the dubia in a less-but still humid environment like in a cloche, or a makeshift one using plastic cups. You could've also used plastic when you attached it onto a plank to keep the humidity in, or packed some moss between the plank and the dubia for extra humidity.
I could never have my humidity that high especially in the winter. My windows would have solid ice on them and then it would thaw out and drip on the wood and floor.....not fun. All my tropical plants have adapted to 40-45% in the winter :))
@@jackiewhitney5031 I think "RePot Me" has that kind of soil....it's one of the better soil companies with a nice assortment. I bought from them once, and was very impressed. Ashley Anita (UA-cam Channel: Plant Life with Ashely Anita) talks about their stuff and recommends them.
I did, and lost a few leaves that were directly near the difuser vent as they became discolored (greyish green rot color) and floppy within a few hours. I now keep it about a foot from any plant. I also tend to "go heavy" on the oils, so that may have contributed. I keep my place around 70% humidity with one humidifier and one difuser.
Hey Claire! What do you use to clean your plants’ leaves that doesn’t negatively impact beneficial mites? I recently started using them too but my leaves need to a good cleaning because my humidifiers left a white mineralization film on the leaves before I changed up the water I was using for the humidifiers. So just water & microfiber gloves isn’t working.
Harley G uses lemon or lime juice mixed with water. The acid is just enough to break down the hard water spots without damaging the leaves. A few other channels said the same.
Its a pitty that Soil Ninja doesn't have the Spagnum moss outside the UK. I mailed them about it yesterday but they can't find a good quality supplier overhere in the rest of Europe. There warehouse in the UK is separate from the one in Europe because of the Brexit 😕. Also I've tried buying Liquid Gold Leaf but its sold out every where.
I was excited to see those window shelves, but I had forgotten that the warranty on my new replacement windows says I am not allowed to attach anything directly to the window.
Wow i lost my comment i was about to reply to it to add onto it but it told me it was unable to load then when i reloaded youtube and opened the video again i couldnt find my comment anywhere
Anyways you can find specific plant shelf for window and i found them at the dollar store for like $4cad which is like £2.37 gotta always look out for the deals it doesn’t cost much to make an acrylic shelf
Damn it turns on at 60% humidity you have to watch out thats a breeding ground to issues in a house they recommend you dont go any higher then 60% in a house i know that plants like higher but your house isnt a green house
Aren’t you afraid to contaminate plants by using the same glove if you come across spider-mite by accident (genuine question- not trying to say using a glove is a bad idea 😅)
Please don't say XY doesn't contain chemicals because it absolutely does. Everything consists of chemicals, even water is a chemical. I agree with the importance of microflora for plant health, but I'm sure there are other ways to express that soil hasn't been sterilized 🫣

Does anyone know of one that is similar to these 2 available in the US, that doesn't have a high price tag??
Yes, is there a US equivalent??? 💚
Here because I’m hoping if there’s a US equivalent, it’ll also be available in Canada

Wowow the shower shelves look so good!!! Thank you for sharing
I love how you style your nursery pots
Great place to find some good soil materials is the fish/reptile section of a pet store: coco coir, bark, sphagnum moss, gravel, lava rock etc.

Wow such a good idea for the plant pots 6:43 also good tip is go to the thrift store i often get pots for .50-$1 which is about 29-58 pence

Awesome tips, thank you for the inspiration :-) Especially the bathroom plastic shelves - I didn´t think about that, but what an idea 🙂
I always enjoy seeing what others consider their indispensable plant care products.

Im so glad I found a shop with liquid gold leaf fertilizer in my country! cant wait to try it
An anjuna fan! Always love to see it. I'll have to start picking up the plastic cups at their shows!
Loved this, I came to similar conclusions with the shower caddies; I have 2 pair of microfibre gloves, and the sprayer is handy for sure!!
I just made my first order of Soil Ninja products today! I never thought I'd be that excited about dirt or spend that amount of money on it, haha!
Probably one of the most helpful plant videos I’ve ever watched! Thank you!!! 😊
Microfaser socks work super too!
Love your videos! They’re so insightful! Favorite plant Alocasia Frydek it is my treasure. Side note how in the world do you get rid of gnats forever!

You can get the dusting gloves in the U.K. from poundstretchers 2 single gloves for £3. They’re nice too-the microfibre used doesn’t make me cringe! 🤗
Great tips and products! I loved this video, thanks so much ❤️🌱

Great content! (And your hair is so cute ☺)
Very helpful tips. Thank you!
FYI, horticultural oil/soap is good for flat mites. I need to order some!
Your hair looks lovely ❤ are you growing it?

Apparently, to get a distilled water all you need to do is freeze a tap water.
I bought a water distiller for around 40$ off of amazon. It's worth the money.
Tap water conditioner for aquariums. Cheap and works, humidifiers or not 😊
The compost/potting soil situation in the UK is absolutelyy dire.
Great information.
Claire should I be fertilising now??? I’m bored of a lot of my plants lack of growth, buzzing for spring.

I’m curious, what are the ingredients in LGL Photo+? I couldn’t seem to find a list online.
I know that you said that the moss had beneficials, but does that also mean it could potentially introduce pests?
In regards to the small diffusers (18:52) can you use them with the essential oils in them or will that damage the plants?
I did, and lost a few leaves that were directly near the difuser vent as they became discolored (greyish green rot color) and floppy within a few hours. I now keep it about a foot from any plant. Try a crinkled piece of parchment paper, really. It works well

Those shower shelves look ideal, but do they fall off eventually ? .... just wondering how long they have stayed stuck so far.
I have one of those in my shower for almost 3 years now. It carries a good amount of weight constantly and haven't had an issue yet.
@Ma na thanks, I initially thought they were a fixed using suction cups, but they look to be stuck using double sided sticky tape ?
Exactly, it's some kind of double sided tape, which is very strong 👌🏽
Great video as always 😊

Is that an anujabeats top?! I would so love it if you were into EDM too 😁😁😁
