Mustad Classic Double Fishing Hook with Open Shanks. Size range 14 to 5/0. They work great for Crankbaits, Hollow body frogs, Stinger hooks on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs. Add some shrink tube to stinger hooks and tie a Snell knot around the hook shank with light line or use a rubber band if you are concerned they may come off. Dress hooks with hair, feathers, or any material you desire. You can buy them in assorted sizes by the hundred and they are more versatile than treble hooks. You can change sizes on crankbaits in seconds. Mount them facing forward or backward if you chose. They hang up much less and eliminate the need for split rings. If you are snagged and they bend out you get your lure back and just put a new one back on. Hooks are cheap crankbaits are not. I cannot remember ever losing a fish because the hook pulled off the lure. Rocket Shad are hunting lures that find fish of many kinds. When you find them, you can target the fish with lures better suited for the species you want to catch. The problem with most lures is not the lure it is that anglers do not understand how to use the lure to their best advantage. Double hooks are waiting in their little boxes for anglers smart enough to see why they have been around for years.
@@collinrivard852 Trailer hooks are different from Mustad Classic Double Fishing Hook with Open Shanks. Double hooks are two hooks made from one piece of wire, made in way that enables them to thread onto a crankbait without a snap ring. When using them as a stinger or trailer hook you must add a piece of shrink tube or surgical tubing to secure the hook to the spinnerbait, buzzbait or jig. They also make single inline hooks to replace treble hooks on any lure using treble hooks. This style of hook is used by saltwater anglers and many Japanese trout anglers for many years, I used them and found they work quite well myself. To learn more just search You-Tube, Google, or E-Bay and find them. They come in different lengths and sizes. By the way, the answer is No I do not use trailer hooks on crankbaits, but I do use the two kinds of hooks I mentioned and they work for me.
You're the reason I picked these up! I like the idea of adding shrink tube to them. That would secure so the hook wouldn't come off. I'll have to check out those double hooks. I have never tried those. Thanks as always for the knowledge, Gizmo!
@@DEBOSFishing You know those little lures are diamonds, I use the ½-ounce model and keep them a secret from most others. For many years now the booyah pond magic with a trailer has been my secret weapon - 3/16 oz willow bladed spinnerbait. Has turned everything from cats to bass to musky for me, and produced when nothing else would. Small spinnerbaits work, and work well.
Good evening Debo, Another great video!! You introduced me to Kast King a couple years or so ago as my first baitcasting setup and I couldn't be happier. Just curious what reel that is (blue one on the fate green rod)? Thanks
Hey Debo, I have a Rocket Shad from years ago. It is a solid hunk of lead, VERY HEAVY for its size. I'm surprised to see it fished SO SHALLOW. Were you absolutely BURNING it in on your retrieve?
I have one of those same spinner baits, but I only tried it once, on a day the fish weren't really active. On another note, the homemade spinner baits I build, have a loop like that, and attach a single siwash hook on it via split ring. I have used just double hooks like that without split ring, and never had the hook come off. Infact, I sometimes modify a double hook into a single, and use that without a split ring, to make a lure have a smaller profile. On some of the top water baits I make, I typically use a double hook on a loop without a split ring. If the double hook on that spinner came off easily, use some pliars to squeeze the channel in between each hook shaft closed more. I've never had a double hook without a split ring, come off before. I like the idea of attaching a hook separately, to my spinner baits, because if you snag, you can eventually pull hard enough and the split ring will open, leaving the only the hook snagged. Another thing is, if you use a spinner bait enough, eventually it can fall apart on you, because the hook is just molded onto the frame via lead, and can become loose after a number of big fish. With my spinner baits, that shouldn't ever happen, as the wire loop is wrapped and super glued to the base of the weight(typically a bullet weight), and the weight is separate from the hook itself. Than again, this might not even be really a big issue in the eyes of a lot of people. It might just be a solution to a problem that's not a serious concern. Most the spinner baits I make, are really tiny compared to typical ones, even smaller than that rocket shad. Also yea, I'd love to see you throwing around beetle spins, inline spinners, tiny jerkbaits, tiny plastics, flies ect. for those green sunfish, and other panfish. I do that kind of stuff all the time with the BFS gear. Who knows, maybe you'll land your pb bass on an UL spinning outfit, throwing UL lures for panfish, like I did few years back lol.
I'm not big on spinnerbaits or buzz baits myself but I like to see the different videos. I love bass fishing but I like to change it up, a bluegill/sunfish video would be awesome. I've been getting a lot of them biting on small crankbaits and poppers at the golf course I fish/work at. Some giant bass in there too. I carp fish once in awhile when it's hot and the bass bite gets a little bit harder. The big carp put up a great fight. Bass are the mainstay but never hurts to switch it up and get some different feeshin friends on your channel!!
Yeah, bass fishing is my true passion but I grew up on panfish, crappie, bass, walleye, perch, whatever wanted to bite. I'll have to get some old school lures out!
Is it really a finesse bait when it's a half ounce of lead? Was fishing mine for smallmouth in some quick water up shallow. The weight and size is great for that, but the double hooks mean it doesn't come through grass at all like a spinnerbait, and it hangs on rocks like mad
Great video and nice rods you use, very similar to mine, I have lol lol about 20 casting rods and reels of different uses depending what in fishing for or where I might go fishing at, between saltwater and freshwater I think I'm covered lol, heck a man never has enough fishing equipment tackle shops I always find goodies lol
Ultra light pan fishing has my vote. My son is young and he has a little friend who loves to fish as well. Thanks homie, your are the best. Keep the videos coming. Shout Out to Randizzle.
Debo, try putting a split ring over the double shank. I think it’ll prevent the hooks from being manipulated off, and take less time with re rigging. Lemmie know.
Another good video. I thought I was the only one who cuts the third hook out of my trebles. I dremel all my trebles because they’re definitely stronger than trailer duals and I can have better hookups without the hassle of having trebles. Keep it up !
You should patent the improvements and make strike king pay you for it.🤣 Panfish are fun to catch too! Every type of sunfish I've ever caught were mean as hell!

Yeah, bass fishing is my true passion but I grew up on panfish, crappie, bass, walleye, perch, whatever wanted to bite. I'll have to get some old school lures out!
You should definitely do some carp fishing.
I can try that out. No clue what I'm doing though 🤣👊
Is it really a finesse bait when it's a half ounce of lead?
Was fishing mine for smallmouth in some quick water up shallow. The weight and size is great for that, but the double hooks mean it doesn't come through grass at all like a spinnerbait, and it hangs on rocks like mad
I used to call 5lbers dinks. Never used to know anything. Great awesome video Debo
pan fish are always fun on an ultra light, especially when something big takes it by surprise. have had it happen a few times haha
Haha oh yeah. I remember catching a catfish on my ultralight as a kid. Didn't get any more fun than that!
Got a good laugh when you lost the hook, I had that happen on a cheapo lure but lost my hook to a cattail of all things haha
I despise those things! Those cattails are tough as heck!
Ur vids are awesome 💥🔥💥🔥💥
Thank you man, appreciate that a lot 👊👊👊
GOOD FISHIN MAN💪👍
Always appreciate that my man!
Definitely going to Walmart to get some of those
Heck yeah man, give them a try! Thanks for watching 👊
A complete certified Debo Dink. You should copyright that. Fun video, good info as always.
Hahah I've had a few episodes where they appear. Thanks for watching man!
Nice! I've got a few combos too. It's helpful to test different types. I can give people a more educated recommendation. Thanks for watching!
@@DEBOSFishing I've learned things from your videos too👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣 that's how I learned to fish is by watching people
Ultra light pan fishing has my vote. My son is young and he has a little friend who loves to fish as well. I would like to see what you would recommend for them to use to catch pan fish(Technique, lures and etc.). Yeah, live bait is easy but it would be cool to have them catch with lures as well. Thanks homie, your are the best. Keep the videos coming. Shout Out to Randizzle.
I can definitely get that rig out soon! Thanks for watching man 👊
Whats your fav. bait do you always use ?
My favorite is a topwater frog.
Pretty kool. Gotta get me a few.
Yeah, they are interesting little lures. Thanks for watching!
Yes bro, i want to see some ultra light fishing. 🎣😎
I can definitely get that rig out!
That reminds me of the H&H spinner bait. It looks the same size and even has the same kind of double hook on it. 👊👍
Nice! I haven't heard of that one before. It's a cool little spinner. Thanks for watching!
This and the whopper plopper are my personal favorites.
You should try to do a green sunfish catch and cook. That would be awesome!
I'd love to see some ultralight fishing, Debo! Carp too!
I can definitely make that happen soon man! Thanks for watching 👊
I need to know how to catch bass
I need to know how to catch non-dink bass 🤣👊
Better than what I catch
It may sound funny Debo but I’m serious
@@reaganriddle1583 just keep at at man. I'll go on stretches where I can't find a bite. Then you hit a day where the bite is awesome!
Love throwing a small black and blue spinner when nothing else is working. Always get a few dink’s but that’s better than nothing!
Agreed! I'm always happy to go home after catch a bunch of small fish compared to nothing at all!
We use those small spinner baits for crappie as well.... normally white or sumfin 👍👍👍
Oh yeah, bet the crappie would really like them!
What reel us that?
Depends which combo. I linked the gear I use in the description below. Thanks for watching man!
Debo, try putting a split ring over the double shank. I think it’ll prevent the hooks from being manipulated off, and take less time with re rigging. Lemmie know.
I think that would slide off even easier. There is no secure way with that hook I feel. Leaves too much to chance with a larger fish I feel.
DEBO'S Fishing Can I send you a picture of what I mean?
@@davidlee4576 sure, send it on Instagram.
Try for carp and catfish
I know nothing about that. Should be interesting 🤣👊
Another good video. I thought I was the only one who cuts the third hook out of my trebles. I dremel all my trebles because they’re definitely stronger than trailer duals and I can have better hookups without the hassle of having trebles. Keep it up !
Ohhhh! I really didn't think of trying that on a squarebill or something 🤔👊👊👊
Dude, this is my go-to year round when the bite gets tough. I have recommended it to so many people. I have never lost a hook though.
Nice! That was my second trip and lost one. May be bad luck but I just feel more comfortable having it attached.
DEBO'S Fishing the eye thing is a problem... All my Rocket Shads are blind...
@@thechaun hahahah poor fellas. Yeah, they eyes seem pretty janky. Burn it fast and hope the fish don't notice 🤣
Yes, switch it up and do some ultra light panfish fishing!
I can definitely get the ultralight rig out soon! Thanks for watching 👊
I like the spin beetle
With a night crawler trailer
Oh man. I haven't tossed the beetle spin in a long time! Thanks for watching 👊👊👊
I don't know if you have longear sunfish in your area but they are just as bad for attacking lures.
I haven't caught one in a long time. They are feisty little fellas!
Camera quality on fleek tbh.
Thanks man, appreciate that feedback 👊👊👊
Nice video bro
Like the rocket shade
😂😂😂 Debo dink! I've seen you catch a lot of chunks!
Yeah, I find some good fish every now and then 🤫👊
Those rocket shad get snagged so easily. I've lost 3 already. They do cast very well though
Rocket shad did some damage but the buzzbait killed it. Great job bud 👊😎🎣
Yeah, that little buzzbait got some bites too!
You should patent the improvements and make strike king pay you for it.🤣 Panfish are fun to catch too! Every type of sunfish I've ever caught were mean as hell!
Yeah, I used to fish for panfish a ton as a kid. Kept fish for eating a lot. I don't do it much anymore. I need to get the ultralight out and hunt for some!
Anything that catches fish, I will use. ☺️
Agreed! I'm not afraid of lures that work!
Nice vid
Thanks 👊👊👊
Uma vara 12lb não seria melhor para essa pescaria ? Gosto muito do seus vídeos . Nice
Thanks for watching!
I vote ultralight carp fishing
Oh man. I know very little about carp fishing 🤣 We'll all learn together 👊
@@DEBOSFishing watch some catfish and carp. He's a legend for carp fishing. You'll learn everything you need to know.
@@FranktheTank319 that sounds like the channel I need! Thanks for the recommendation man!
Some ultralight fishing would be fun. Look at it this way, when you catch that 1lber it will be a big fish then 😂👌🏼
Hahaha yes! I do want to toss the ultralight soon. Found some of my favorite old panfish lures from back in the day!
Dude I love throwing around my ultra light and catching sunfush
Yeah, they put up a good fight and are fun to catch. Thanks for watching man!
Ultralite...dooo it!
I can get the whippy stick out! Got some lures I want to show everyone!
Looksike something I would throw
Pretty cool lure. Give it a try if you find some cheap!
Why do you say night when it's clearly day?
Because it was just before sundown?
I’ve caught just about everything on a rocket shad including a 5 pound catfish
I’ve caught a lot of smallmouth with this lure 🙌
