I noticed that the g2h pro in HomeKit (but often also in aqara app) when I am via lte the streaming audio buffers.. not when I am in Wi-Fi. The g2h works well also in lte than in Wi-Fi.. I told Amazon to change my unit but the new one has the same behavior.. very bad
Great video and I love the comparisons between the two cameras. This will be very helpful to others trying to decide which model to get. I currently have five of the G2H cameras and one of the G3 cameras. I actually have 64 GB SD Cards in all five of my G2H cameras and have them set to record continuously 24/7 and they are monitoring the entrances to my 4 exterior doors and my garage door. My G3 camera turns off at night, but also has an SD card installed. I really like the Lens Correction of the G2H model and since the Pro doesn't have this feature, I will be sticking with my current cameras. The audio quality is a non issue for me. I set my activity zones in the Home app for my G2H and G3 cameras, but there isn't a way to do privacy zones. For me this is a non issue. Maybe Apple will add Privacy zones in the future. I do like that you can store audio sounds for things like alarms and such. I really want the Aqara devices to announce when an exterior door is opened, like saying "Front Door", whenever the front door is opened. This has been an issue with me in trying to get a custom sound to play through Apple Music Library.
That’s an awesome setup you have, Frederick! For the audio sounds, I created a Siri shortcut and using the speak action had Siri speak the text while screen recording. Extracted the audio using GarageBand and exported as mp3 and imported to iCloud via iCloud Drive. Using that way you can have it announce front door opened and skip Apple Music as far as sounds go. So icloud is not advisable for storage? And I have to open the sd card to view the past recordings? The reason why I’m choosing Aqara is so that I can view the past and live recordings remotely using Icloud. I’m kinda new to these so I’m a bit confused.
iCloud is good for quick viewing of motion clips, not 24/7 footage. if you want to see what happened between the motion clips, you'll need local storage. if you don't need continual recording, then icloud is great. both have their pros and cons, just depends which option fits your needs :)

Usually, the live view shows a solid dark blue for the period in which the camera is on. But sometimes the solid blue line changes to a series of vertical bars. What does this mean? Thank you,

Yes, you can trigger the security mode changes by using the aqara app or home app using an automation (ie, when person leaving the house, enable security mode, and when arrive, disable) as an example. 2. The password will only be required I think for viewing from the aqara app. the home app bypasses the passcode during a live feed i think, i no longer use this camera so I can't say for sure but if you reach out to aqara they'll be able to let you know. 3. vertical bars indicate when a sensor has detected a change and shows the change on the timeline, ie, if a door is opened. if you play the footage while the bar is showing, it'll say exactly what happened. The uploaded sounds can be used in a HomeKit automation but it’s quite complicated. By adding them to an Apple Music library by either screen recording a Siri shortcut speak text action and extracting the audio. Many steps and requires a Mac an Apple Music. Thanks for watching! 😊

Has there been an update or anything since this video that has sorted out the issue of it not starting to record straight away? I’m not wanting 24/7 recording as I’m planning to try to set it and a button up as a doorbell until I move and choose the doorbell I actually want. So I want a notification when there’s movement.
To answer your question, I just bought the new G2H PRO, it has no delay recording issues with Homekit as mentioned in the video. Works perfectly fine, like my previous version of G2H.

Same concept, just different features. Personally, I find the eufy camera to work a little bit better from my experience. But aqara is a hub for aqara child devices if you need one and has a security system exposed in HomeKit, eufy does not. Thanks for watching! 😊
I just received the camera hub pro yesterday! I saw where the SD card goes but didn’t see it in the packaging! Do you have to purchase that separately?
So my Aqara G2H Pro seems to be jacking up my network. I have a hompod mini and running 16.1.1 on my 14Pro. All my none-Philips Hue devices went non-responsive, including Kasa plugs, Meross plugs, Meross garage door opener, and Onvis light strip. I removed the Aqara camera reset the network and everything started working again. I'm going to order another one and see if this is isolated or if there's a larger issue. Anyone having similar issues? Any thoughts?
@@AdamsTechLife I received the new camera, set it up and it was working well for about 6 hours. And the other devices are all working fine. Now out of no where the camera simply will not record any events at all. It will send notifications of motion but won't record any motion. Ugh.
@@andrewnoble1600 I started having a bunch of network problems soon after that. So, I started looking at my Apple devices. There was some Apple HomeKit protocol (can't remember what it was called) Apple rolled out that caused the whole issue. For some reason my kids' phones would work ok within the HomeKit environment but not mine. So, I had to rebuild the entire network from scratch. Starting with unplugging and factory resetting all HomePods, phones, routers, and hubs. Re-assigning devices to hubs, etc. And nearly 80 home devices. Such a mess. Took several hours but things have been basically smooth since then. Only one weird thing, whenever I select on a notification from my doorbell camera it takes forever for it to show a live view. Rendering the notification kinda useless.
The most important question: does it support 5GHz wifi??? Or users are still supposed to cripple their wifi in the entire house just for one camera. If it still requires 2.4ghz - the it’s trash

Remember to change any of the settings fir the camera you must be logged into Aqara’s servers rather than running in HomeKit mode.

Planning to buy the pro.. but does it connect directly to home kit.. or do you need to connect it to its own app first?
either way works, i recommend adding to homekit first then binding to aqara app. setup seems to work more reliably that way.

Can the camera record 24/7 without connecting Aqara app?
No. It records locally but only viewable in the Aqara app or if you take out the sd card each time to view footage. Thanks for watching! 😊

Like most smart devices, this connects over 2.4
2.4ghz has a farther range. 5ghz is unnecessary. Running your home Wi-Fi on dual band 2.4 and 5ghz is not necessarily crippling your Wi-Fi 😂
