- The Little Brown Bat settles down in it's day roost for a nap. See the bat stretch out his wings, yawn and bare it's teeth at 00.58 seconds and at the end of the clip even the ears stretch, one at a time!

This animal does nothing to keep the bugs down. They cant. Its a common people thing to say this. They eat the trillions of bugs, thats it. Period. Its like saying chimps keep the bannana trees from taking over. No, they just eat bannanas. You know how many chickens humans produce? They eat more bugs than bats, and they cant possibly keep down a population. They only thing that KEEPS DOWN bugs is weather....done!
And people populations because of COVID.

@@catherinekaminski112 Excuse me? How about the annoying and possibly most dangerous pest, the mosquito! Carries over 21 different diseases and is responsible for a lot of disease because the females bite! Unlike the bats that have ecolocation capable of spotting a single hair on your head and leave you well enough alone as you leave them alone, mosqitos follow you around simply because you have to BREATHE!
The bat was definitely not stuck. When I went back a little while later it had flown away. Bats spend more than half their life hanging from their feet (ie. sleeping/hibernating), they know what they are doing!
I never hated bats, just didnt understand what really lovely creatures they are,until I saw this,and other storys on youtube.I have a barn full of them.I am blessed.
Unfortunately, bats can carry diseases. So if you have to handle any of them, be gentle, wear some gloves, and wash your hands afterwards.
One got in the house the other day, and our cat was terrorizing the poor thing. I managed to catch him in a towel, call him cute a few dozen times, and let him go outside while he screamed at me.
Bats can carry some really nasty diseases and are the leading vector for Rabies in the US.
I love bats. Even the ones that have really weird-looking faces, I think they're cute in their own way. I'd love to know where bats are roosting near where I live so I could watch them come out at night and do aerial ballet. This little guy is so freakin' cute. Awww. I came across this while searching for videos of the little brown bat. We currently have one roosting in one of our bluebird boxes. Got a perfectly good bat house on the property, but apparently this one doesn't like crowds! And, no, folks it is not sick or hurt in any way. Goes into the small entry hole of bluebird box each morning and back out again each evening without any problems.

The yawn happens at the point where the camera pulls away for a couple of seconds, the bared teeth were sudden and I thought the bat was about to fly off, so I pulled back. Turns out, the bat was only yawning.
Gotta try to save the bats people!! WNS is taking them out fast. Do what you can. Get informed.

Neat. I'm from Peru. When I was five years old me and my family took a trip to the Amazon (Iquitos, Loreto). Watching fox bats in their natural habitat really left an impression on me about nature. That and pink river dolphins.

For anybody wondering why the bat is acting like that it's because they hang upside down for long periods of time and they literally wrapped their wings around themselves and use their little fingers at the front with their wings to basically lock in place and cover their faces so they don't have to see the light and that gets a little stressful after a while so instead of flying around they usually just do one Wing stretch and then they do another one Wing stretch and they do it until they feel all good again.
