A similar thing was done to the Five-Seven in Alpha Protocol, making it a .50 caliber pistol. I'm beginning to believe it's an in-joke with the gaming industry.
I'm glad to see that it doesn't seem all bad with QB, as I've heard from some. Max Payne 1 & 2 pretty much guarantees I'll give anything Remedy or Sam Lake's involved with a shot. As for lazy progressive writing, it's an eye roll, but that goes for any form of lazy writing. I do find it a little odd how angry some get at it in particular, but I guess its due to politics, and everything's about picking a side. Finally, seeing BLACK reminds me that I'd love to hear your take on it. I haven't seen a single video on it that isn't a by the numbers review. Great video as always!
You forgot to mention that you're a MALE and you have husband; that means you're GAY. Your HUSBAND, who is also GAY, should have corrected you on that one. MUH HUHZBUNDDDD M8!
You fucking nailed it. I've been putting up with this bullshit for so long that at this point that I've almost forgotten why I was against it in the first place.
Shawn Ashmore (Jack Joyce) best known for playing Iceman in the X-Men movies, also was on the show Animorphs & The Following. Other than that, some random Canadian TV shows & a few direct to video movies that I cant think of.
You won't catch me saying anything nice about Communism (well... the Soyuz is still a pretty solid machine). That being said, I think the only way Ayn Rand or Libertarian style anarcho-capitalism works is if you assume everybody follows the classic Libertarian non-aggression principle. But that will never happen. So anarcho-capitalism with perfect non-aggression is a nice dream at best. Like something you'd see at the beginning of a Star Trek TNG episode, before everything goes horribly wrong or the holodeck goes on the fritz.
Opening this video up, I thought you would hate on it endlessly. It was nice seeing some valid points and also good to know that I'll probably enjoy Quantum Break (waiting for a decent price drop :D) after having enjoyed everything from Remedy.
She's a fockin bitch, you know what, there are so many things you could do with an evangelion drinking game, take a shot every time: the bitch says what are you stoooopid??!!! "It's an angel!" Good to see a proper video on forced social justice in game writing. I was tempted to do myself because I was tired of seeing videos that boiled down to "those filthy darn SJWs ruin my darn video games."
I thought it was just me thinking that modern "platformers" pretty much play themselves. Especially Assassin's Creed. Push forward to run, scale the wall, do a forward flip off the top of the roof, jump down into a wagon full of hay, roll out of the wagon and continue to run. From what I can remember Uncharted 2 seemed to be a bit less automatic, but I straight up couldn't stand when I played Uncharted 4 on my friend's PS4. It literally felt like I was in the game's way. Tomb Raider is guilty in some parts but not to the same extent....or maybe I just like looking at that hot polygon, perfectly rendered ass and that is clouding my judgement. Anyway I sort of felt the same way about Far Cry 3 as you feel about Quantum Break. I absolutely loved the game, but when I step back and really look at it I almost feel guilty for liking it since the game is NOT hard even on hard and you're way too overpowered. It can hardly be classified as a game really. Still that didn't stop me from grinning and giggling like a little school girl everytime I threw a remote explosive under the enemy jeeps and watch them try to scramble to exit the vehicle before I blew it up. The stealth was so easy it was a absolute crime due to the A.I. being incredibly stupid and for some reason it never got old to hear and see their stupid reactions. Some games just have that charm I suppose.
I am following everything that Remedy does since Max Payne, the way the story was presented really caught me in and I am a big fan of Sam Lake (most other games pretending to have a story are like b-movies to me, I don't know why). Now,. I've played Alan Wake and loved the story of it too, but Quantum Break left me less satisfied, I don't know why. Even though I like the sci-fi theme of it. But yes, the gameplay was awkward. I am generally not enjoying 3rd person as much (usually they make realistic animations of characters but they are moving rather clunky and heavy to my taste) as I love the 1st person perspective, so these games have to keep me for the story. I just started playing Control, I like they went for the SCP theme, and the gameplay feels kinda better than their last one. Not extraordinary but seems to control better. And personally I like that they let you move and backtrack the facility, not restricting you in linear paths. Still most nostalgic for Max Payne (1 and 2 of course only), it's still Remedy's best imho. But I'll keep an eye on them as I still like what they are doing from time to time storywise.
> Jesus God, 7 DVDs? Well, Blu-ray never caught on as a physical format for PC video games, so yeah. Not even for limited releases. I'm sure there are *some* collectors that would buy them.
Which SUCKS. I put a Blu-Ray writer in my computer assuming it would come in handy for something, but then no good or cheap Blu-Ray software for PCs ever materialized... so nobody ever bought one. It makes me think that if HD-DVD had won the format wars we could play them natively in Windows Media Player today. Blu-Ray may have been technically superior, but now we're slaves to Sony. On the he/she thing in rule books. There are good reasons to do that. Examples between 2 players, or if it's a game where a player has a character. In both cases, it makes it clear what's being referred to throughout the rules.
Arkham Horror was kind of a bad example I think, because the rules for that game are trying to juggle multiple players interacting with multiple monsters/cards/locations. It's kind of like how programmers talk about Alice and Bob. BUT, at the same time, I don't know a lot of women who go out of their way to play Arkham Horror. :)

Now if she had stuck to writing length political diatribes? That would probably have been much better. But polemics disguised as "novels" are kind of obnoxious.
I remember my girlfriend talking about how she had some weird libertarian phase and ended up reading, at the very least, Atlas Shrugged. And I just thought, "Even as a libertarian, why would you waste your time with that?" It's almost exactly the same number of pages as the 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings and, obviously, the most clever thing to do is just read that again. But I digress. I guess not caring for audio texts and other bullshit (like the gay character backstory in DX) really pays off. And no, i don't support anal marriage and pedophilia adoption.
Can we please stop using the term "SJW"? Everywhere I go online these days I hear people whining about them, to the point that I'm finding that the people who use the term are more insufferable than the progressive hipsters they're complaining about, just different sides of the same obnoxious, self-righteous coin. I mean, is it really worthwhile to complain about the bogeyman of "SJW"s for a couple of inconsequential lines in a videogame? I mean, would anyone bat an eye if they were talking about traditional relationships instead? If not, then who really cares?
The term SJW will stick around because that's what they are. If we used the term "progressive hipster", that would become the new "SJW", and we'd have comments complaining about that term. I vaguely remember when some people called them cultural marxists. If the lines are inconsequential, why do SJWs (or Progressive Hipsters if you prefer) get so upset by them not being included, and call games "progressive" and "brave" when they do include them?
They probably get upset by their exclusion for the same reasons you guys get upset by their inclusion. They're nitpicky and fastidious, and are quick to jump to negative conclusions when a work deviates from what they're expecting. Seriously. I mean from what I'm seeing, it's just two lines of dialogue, among hundreds? Maybe thousands? The guy just mentions his husband in passing, and THAT'S what's setting people off? No, what's setting you off is that you're carrying anti-SJW baggage into the game, and so ANYTHING that looks progressive brings up those bad memories of those horrible SJWs you dislike. Seriously, you guys are getting triggered by inauspicious, _small_ things just as badly as those SJW bogeymen get. Again, if the guy had been talking about his wife, who would bat an eye? No one. So if you're going to complain about it being a husband instead, JUST because you want to get angry at SJWs, then it's YOU carrying negative feelings into the work, because by itself the line OUGHT to be taken as just normal. Please get angry at things that are worth it. If an SJW is actively assaulting people in the streets, or making slanderous remarks that ruins someone's reputation, then that's worthwhile. But if you're going to complain about a couple lines in a work, that would be interpreted as normal if they were talking about traditional couples, then you're really just dragging your own agenda into things, which is really getting annoying to see everywhere.
It's not a big deal, but then again video game criticism is never going to be a big deal on a global scale. So if we've already decided to complain about a video game (first world problems, amirite?), critiquing the writing isn't a bridge too far.
