EDIFIER S1000MKII VS EDIFIER R1700BT | SOUND TEST

- On this video, I'm trying to compare the sound from these two speakers.
SETTINGS:
VOLUME: 60%
TREBLE: 50%
BASS: 50%
RECORDER: H1N - LEVEL/GAIN = 8
I have these speakers for months and they sound better now compare when new. What I notice are:
R1700BT is louder from volume 1 to 50%, But usable volume is up to 70%. More than that, distortion arises and 100% volume is not usable.
S1000MKII seem to be good at volume 50% up. You can use this speaker up to 100% without distorting provided you are using hi-fi source/music.
S1000MKII is a real value here pound per pound. But for those with budget in mind, R1700BT is hard to beat.
Which do you think is better?
for me its much crispier the R1700bt, but the S1000MK is more bass
Great video man. I really appreciate 😀
Thank you
In my family we discovered Edifier speakers in 2020. Now I’ve got the S1000MKii in one room in my house and the R1855DB in another room. One of my kids (adult kids 😀) has the R2000DB in her house and another has the R1700BT in her house. Each of the R Series speakers that we have produces a fantastic sound, from high thru mid to low end. Believe me, these speakers are really very, very good and do certainly satisfy for music, TV, gaming whether from CD, record turntable, phone, tablet, PC by either wired or BlueTooth connection. No complaints.
However, the S1000MKii’s that I have in my house, are another step up again in quality. These speakers are truly Excellent (with a capital E). Sometimes I think that it would be hard to beat the sound from the R Series, because it’s just so good. Then later I’m in the other room with the S1000’s going and I’m just blown away. And I’m really more than happy with the connection versatility of these guys with optical toslink, coaxial, BlueTooth and two separate RCA inputs. That’s five different ways to connect several devices!
There’s nothing wrong with any other brand named speakers - Klipsch, JBL, KEF, Audioengine etc…. They’re all great, except for one thing…the price. Fo me that’s where Edifier beats them all out of the ballpark. I have found that with Edifier I’m getting premium level sound for much less than half or even one third of what some other speakers cost. I’ll be using these speakers for at least another two/three years before I get the itch to see if there’s any need to change up again.
Hi,
I'm thinking about upgrading my R2600 placed next to TV but I also have R1600TIII next to computer (so have a little comparision of Edifier's potential)
Except power, I cant decide which one sounds better (more clear, higher) but have a feeling, that R1600 sounds nicer and clearlier - they stand next to computer.
But what about R2600? Are they worth to upgrade to S1000MKII or I wont hear much changes, except power? I don't care that much about lower tones (it would be nice, but it's not the main requirement), I care about better (more clear) higher tones and also about mid-tones.
Regards
@@en2pl: : I’m not a sound engineer or a scientist in any way. I just instinctively know good sound - highs, lows, good bass etc. The sound reproduction that you have now may well be excellent, with no need for a change. However, if you don’t change up, it’s going to nag away at you until you do. So if I was you and I could afford it, I’d go for it. Once you’ve done it, then it’s done and you live with it contentedly for the next few years.
How much different in quality between s1000mk and r1855db? I am contemplating between those 2 (since it is double the price here).
Another option for me is R1700BTS.
@@ravenalrenata9617 : Any of those three options are perfectly satisfactory, depending on your use of the speakers. I’ve used all three to connect TV, BluRay player, CD player and record turntable by hardwire connection and then via Bluetooth my laptop computer, mobile phone and iPad to all of these speaker models. The R1700BTS is perfect for a smaller room and a smaller budget. The sound reproduction is excellent and very pleasing. I used to have them but I’ve replaced them with the R1855DB, which is a little better (but not by much) and I find that they are particularly awesome for TV, connected either with the digital optical Toslink cable or, alternatively via the headphone socket in the TV using the analogue 3.5mm to RCA cable. If my only choice was between those two Edifier models, I’d probably go for the R1855DB speakers, if I could afford that little bit extra in my budget. But it would be very close.
A noticeable step up in sound comes from the S1000, with three different options in that model of speaker alone, the original older S1000DB, the updated S1000MKII (I have these ones) and the newest S1000W which now also includes WiFi connectivity. I was lucky enough a few years ago to be able to purchase the S1000MKII at a very competitive price on Amazon. Sometimes you can be lucky with a quick fire sale. I still use the R1855 in one room and I’ve use the S1000 in another room. Definitely, if you can afford it, these are the best option of all.
@Driver2616 thanks for your reply. R1855DB is only 15 USD more here, meanwhile, s1000mkii is like doubled. I wonder if using bluetooth on 1700BTS is noticeably better because it has aptx HD?
Great video comparison.
Thank You
So which one do you recommend according to sound and bass response ? . S1000mkii or r1700bts with t5 sub..
sir what is hi-res music? is the format file like .FLAC? and? thank you if you notice sir
I own R1700BT. I live with them in a room 4.5x3 m and they fill it nicely with bass most of the time. This sound demo is very nice but I don't think it fully represents what they can do in the bass department. They definitelly can make my sofa tremble a little bit at louder volumes with slightly boosted bass (+1/+2) :D If you want more bass just switch bass to about +1/+2 and you will have plenty of it. But I keep bass at default and personally I'm happy with this default sound but I don't want to murder my neighbours as I live in a flat and bass might be annoying when you come back tired from work sometimes. Of course I'm talking about using them in small and medium size rooms. For a big room I would look for something else. A lot depends on how you will place them and where you sit and how far away from them: I use them for my tv and I sit on a sofa close to the wall which makes me hear and feel bass way more intensive than a person sitting further away from it. I wouldn't think about buying S1000MKII as they sound mudy to me here. This line had some production issues and you could receive faulty speakers but maybe Edifier fixed these problems. If you can afford S1000MKII I would rather choose Swans MK200III+ instead. I heard they are more musical and they got more depth/instrument separation. If you are on a very low budget I would buy cheaper R1700BT and start saving for Swans.
Does the 1700 distort at max volume with the bass and treble knobs at noon?
$$$$$ swans!!

after using x100 15w for 15 years since 2008 i now purchased r1700bts 66w in 2023 and my ratings are

r1700bts 66w 9/10 just purchased less than a month ago
great comparison...thx...name of the songs?
What about the bass of the s1000mkII for listening kind of electronic music? Is enough deep and punchy?
Yeah.. Good enough. For the price, enough to make your neighbor call security if you live in a condo. :)
Qué tal comparad klipsch promedia 2.1 vs s1000 db?
awesome videos man..... it'd be nice if you could get your hands on a pair of Edifier R2000db too... :)
Yeah Im planning to get some more edifier speakers in the future.
I have the R2000db and it is really good. Can't ask for more for the price as the sound quality is amazing.
Does the Hi-Res make a difference between these 2 speakers? Love to hear music at low volume for jazz, do the details can be heard at medium or low volume and does it have DAC and amplifier inside the speaker particularly S100MKII. SImply said which is much enjoyable to be heard?
Yes.. Absolutely. Hi Res music really makes a difference. I have a tidal account, music from there is way better than youtube. Wish I could test and show you guys but youtube will hit me with copyrights for sure. Lolz.
These speakers are powered, built in amp, some with dac, higher models tends to have better components of course. S series is a good start if you like better audio.
But again, nothing beats real audiophile speakers like "monitor audio". They are passive, needs amp, dac, etc.. But comes with a hefty price.
@@techgat3keeper879 Thanks for the feedback. I have been using my 1more triple driver Hi-Res headphone/KZ AS10 iem with ifi HIP DAC and it sound amazing, and you can actually hear instrument that you can't in standard format compare to hi-res audio. I do use TIDAL MQA with my DAC but I don't prefer to be stuck with headphones everytime I want to enjoy music. And this S1000MKll have Bluetooth APTX-HD that can transmit hi-res audio really great.
@@sulf49 yes. Edifier S series is for budget audiophile... I can recommend it. If you listen to it with hires music, seem like the musician is in front of you. Ive been thinking of getting their high end air series but for the price, might go with real audiophile speakers.
@@techgat3keeper879 Thanks, I think I will go with the S1000MKll then.
@@sulf49 Did you buy? Are you happy with them?
I'm in the market for the R1700BTS so would like more of your personal opinion on either of these Edifiers. My room is rather small so my distance to the speakers is about 3m max but mostly I sit around 2m or less. My current speakers is the R1280T which I do like so your input on their sound quality is greatly appreciated. Are those speakers a worthy upgrade from my current R1280T or there are other worthy candidates?
Hi,
If you have the R series already, the upgrade path is to go with S series. I suggest to go for S880DB at least.
R1700BT is a solid, bang for the buck speaker. But since you already have R1280, not much an upgrade to be honest. Id rather save a bit. Edifier S series is really something. Closest to "real" audiophile speaker.
@@techgat3keeper879 Thanks mate for the quick reply. Was hoping for something cheaper but might as well save up for a bigger sound upgrade then. Been using the R1280T for more than 2 years now and it still surprises me how good they are for the price. Maybe someday the Airpulse series then. Once again mate thank you.

What is your recommendation for a home theatre set up w a sub???
S series is on another level than R s
I think I am going to upgrade my Edifier R1700BT with the Edifier T5 subwoofer. The mids and highs are I think better in this video.
Better things are: loseless bluetooth so no wiring, newer bluetooth version (5 instead of 4 but I don't use it), a display on the bottom and I don't hear the hi-res audio difference?
the s1000mkii seems to have much wider sound stage
S1000mklll 400 euros , r1700bt 150euros.muito diferente.
S1000MKII win 🏆
Edifier r1700bt
swans hivi m200d+ or edifier s1000mkii who win
I dont have swans for comparison but it will boil down to price in your area. Any of the two is good.
incorect settings on speakers. Room size is playing KEY ROLE here. You should adjust bigger speaker and then test.
is this speaker close to audiophile?
depends on the source material , granted you have a good source.. this is good enough for most people. But for true audiophile... almost in my opinion. Of course, this is just a quarter of the price of true audiophile setup.
I´m thinking about an upgrade on my Edifier 1770 speakers. I`m pretty satisfied with them, and the room where they're placed is noy so big (around 30 m). But I've just bought a turntable that has (maybe) more potential to go with than the Edifier 1700 and I am thinking about the S880DB and the S1000MKII. I don´t know if you guys could recommend me one of this two, and write some differences between then. Thanks in advance!!!.
Definitely the S1000MKII. Even better the S2000MKIII. The higher you go up the food chain, the better the fidelity especially in the mids and high end. If it suits your budget, try taking a look at the Airpulse series, they are totally on a different level.
S1000MKII the best.
Are these speakers better than marshall woburn2?
Clarity, mids and highs are definitely better than the Woburn 2, bass goes to Woburn 2. For the price of the Woburn 2, get a R1850DB or even the new R2850DB and pair it up with a good budget sub like the Elac 1010. It will kill the Woburn 2 in every way.
@@-MarkWinston- thank you very much for reply.
EDIFIER R1700BT have more clear trible but the bass not strong like S1000MKII, hear this video with razer man o war headphone
This doesnt make justice to s1000, which owns in details irl, unlike here, coz of wrong test setup. If directional mic is used, it should be placed where tweeters are pointing. Speaker themselves are in angle, plus different height favors smaller ones. 1700 are indeed bright, but with dip in the mids, thats why details cant hold a candle to Edifier models like MR4 or s1000.
Ordered A pair of S1000MKIIs for Video editing on my Macbook Pro, but I also orderd some R1855DB to see how they sound :) Watching this video on my editing PC with some Yamaha HS8 Monitors :)
Cheers!
So how did the 1855 sound compared to the 1000mkii?
@@-MarkWinston- The Clarity of the 1000s is much higher and the bass has much more of a kick :) although I added a 10” sub to the 1855s and makes them sound pretty amazing for their price :)

🏆🔰🔊 Moral story for me Edifier S2000mkiii was the right tuning speaker for me .
The R17 sounds like it would fatigue your eardrums, its all treble.
