A great initiation and talk by Rajivji.
But few things you need to keep in mind in order to avoid the pitfalls:
1. Most of the 'open minded Muslims' we talk about are Shia (including the Aussie Imam), it's simply not going to cut it for vast majority of the Muslims who are Sunni and generally don't like Shias and their philosophy.
2. The interviewer asks about how to make the lower castes (dalits) more swadeshi instead of the Muslims - ignoring the fact that vast majority of lower castes (dalits) are devout Hindus (far more than the 'enlightened' upper caste Hindus , who constitute most of the Hindu anti India and communist forces) - such approach is going to alienate and antagonize the lower castes. Instead we should teach the upper caste Hindus (esp. in UP, Bihar and some South Indian states ) how to overcome their caste based bigotry and unite with all the Hindus as one in order to survive the Chrislamist onslaught.

Being a Sikh or a Jain is again subcultural identity based on history, and being a follower of Budha or any guru is again NOT a religion - they are neither exclusive from each other nor operate like a cult through the imposition of practices or school of thoughts - it's based on the culture and hence evolve/reform. I AM upset however that there was no distinction made between civilizational heritage and history and the construct of "religion" which is a political ideology. There are no -isms as the concept of Dharma don't translate to religion nor is it sectarian. Perspective needs to be shifted and tenants of religion - which the western world follows especially Christianity and Islam - needs to be broken which seeks cultural/civilizational eradication or genocide. Unfortunately, people have become too dumb to find the nuance and root of the problem.

A Muslim once accused me of spreading bigotry and hate. I told him that I do no such thing. I stand for human rights for all, regardless of skin colour, race, religion, or sexuality. I do however speak out against certain bad ideas. Religions are ideas, and ideas do not have rights. There is nothing wrong with discussing why you agree or disagree with Communism, Christianity, Nazism, Buddhism, Atheism, or Islam. They are just ideas.
The Quran actually attacks not just kufr (disbelief), but people (non-Muslims). See for yourself!
The only time where people want to prevent discussion of certain ideas is when they know their ideas are bad, and when you hold them up to the light of scrutiny, they fall apart.
The point of this post is to highlight the hypocrisy of those who want to silence dissent against Islam under the guise of “hate speech” while ignoring the hateful statements contained in their favourite holy book.
Muslims believe the Quran talks about specific incidents that happened in Muhammad’s life, while containing lessons and divine guidance for all of eternity. Because the Quran is a book borne out of a hostile situation between Muhammad and his enemies what you find is this hostility and antagonism is frozen in time. When you read the following verses, ask yourself:
Does this book foster peace and mutual cooperation or bring hatred, contempt, and antagonism?
Who are the worst creatures? Well, the deaf dumb and blind of course!
The example of those who disbelieve is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries cattle or sheep - deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand. (Quran 2:171)
Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not (i.e. the disbelievers). (Quran 8:22)
What was that? Who are the worst creatures? Those who disbelieved
Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe - (Quran 8:55)
May Allah destroy Jews and Christians
The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allah “; and the Christians say, “The Messiah is the son of Allah .” That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? (Quran 9:30)
Note: The statement described here about Jews is actually false, but don’t let that get in the way of Allah cursing them.
Those pesky Jews and Christians again
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures. (Quran 98:6)
The disbelievers are filth
O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean… (Quran 9:28)
*Some say “Spiritual filth”, as if that makes it better
Allah cursing them again and setting up his eternal BBQ
Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze. (Quran 33:64)
Indeed, those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers - upon them will be the curse of Allah and of the angels and the people, all together (Quran 2:161)
Interestingly here even humans and angels are joining in the cursing festival! Seems like a favourite pastime of Allah.
Prayers to get victory over disbelievers
Instead of praying for humanity to be at peace, it’s always about dominance and victory over the disbelievers. Such an antagonstic hostile world-view.
… You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people. (Quran 2:286)
… and give us victory over the disbelieving people. (Quran 3:147)
And in the following verse Allah promises he will never let the disbelievers win. Why is it always a fight?
… and never will Allah give the disbelievers over the believers a way [to overcome them]. (Quran 4:141)
Don’t take them as allies. We wouldn’t want to live in a peaceful world where we work together peacefully, would we?
O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers. Do you wish to give Allah against yourselves a clear case? (Quran 4:144)
Be stern against disbelievers:
O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; (Quran 5:54)
Protect each other from disbelievers:
The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this, (protect each other), there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief. (Quran 8:73)
Oh look, Jews hate Muslims!
You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah ; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, “We are Christians.” (Quran 5:82)
Prepare an army to terrorize them.
And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allah].
And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged. (Quran 8:59-60)
There is also the Antisemitism in the Quran and Sunnah
In conclusion, the Quran does not foster goodwill towards disbelievers. It contains hatred in many forms such as prayers, dehumanizing descriptions, curses, and general statements of hostility. It is hypocritical for Muslims to claim it’s hate speech to criticize Islam while spreading a doctrine that is full of hate. Ideas do not deserve rights. People deserve rights. Unlike Muhammad’s Quran, I do not condone attacking people or groups. Only ideas.

Couple of decades ago I have seen Indian Muslim women dressed in salwar kurta and sarees I.e. they dressed as per the dresses of the land, like Gujarati Muslim women wore Gujarati style saree. They were not seen dressing like Arab women but now they are all seen wearing hijab and burkhas with full covered faces.
Yes, still in Maharashtra you will find 40-50 year aged women’s are wearing sarees with modesty without burqa!

Great initiative on a positive note...and the same model of constructive and disruptive should be followed in the case of a Sanatan Dharmi and Hindutva forces .
Radical Hindutva forces are empowered today just because of the fact that majority of Muslims in India want to remain isolated and don't want any discussion for the sake of a better future. It seems as if their Mullahs and politicians have taken them under hostage....
Now is the time for honest contemplation in each dharma to know in its entirety for the larger welfare of the world

Mr. Malhotra, I just heard this talk,& I find it quite interesting & I feel that you have outlined some framework upon which solutions can be created. I am truly concerned that external elements could be in play within the country,making matters worse!
Rajiv Malhotra is setting a dangerous precedence. Hindus believe everything is the divine. This would mean tomorrow a Hindu can look at someone's house and say that house is his God. Then force that person to move out of the house because the Hindu claimed the house is divine. A hindu can even look at some girl and say the blouse the girl is wearing his god and force the girl to remove her blouse because he believes the blouse worn by the girl is a god. You see how it is slippery slope to go around saying the creation is the divine. Once you start making the claim the creation is the divine you can start claiming anything and everything is god. A Hindu can even say someone's eye is god and surgically remove that person's eye. It's a very slippery slope to go around claiming creation itself is god. This is one of the countless reason I had a problem with Hinduism and left Hinduism and proudly accepted Islam.
If a day comes where we accomplish this, giving a common emotional identity to each citizen. India will become a superpower the next day.
This is what the government should've done in 1950's. Well better late then never, I really congratulate Mr. Rajivji on doing something that was needed to be done since a long time. I consider you as a revolutionary like Lee Kwan Yew that India never did but should've had.
We were very close to having one, Babasaheb Ambedkar, but he was never given a chance by Nehru and today we have a million Nehrus in India. What is needed is a revolutionary like Bose or Kalam whom no one can challenge and they provide the Indian youth with this vision.
I personally think that the way to go is for someone to take control of India's education system and every Indian kid born should go through that system where he is taught his identity.
I was under the influence of bramhakumaris philosophy without actually studying Hinduism or indology. I feel that a study of bk philosophy may help in creating a grand narrative the perfect way.

The fundamental issue is how can Islam accommodate other religions. Hindus can accommodate Muslims because Hinduism says that all paths lead to the same truth. Your personal god can be Allah, Shiva or Vishnu or Shakti. All of these are just focusing methods to reach the ultimate reality - we’re all manifestation of Brahman.
Islam needs a similar accommodation of other religions without saying others are going to hell or worse yet should be killer for not following Quran.
A great thinker,author and researcher. His message is important for a strong Hindu nation which is epitome of secularism. Be secular/human or get out of India shall be stern message to anti Indians.Politicians who nourish on vote banks must be crushed.

Many castes in Muslims are having cultural relations with their ancestral Castes in Hindus. They at times unite among themselves. Examples Rajputs in Haryana; Rai Sikh community near Pakistan border and converted Brahmins. They may be talked to first of all.

Mr. Malhotraa need to understand reformation of Islam and debate between Asharia and Muttazilla by Islamic scholars of Basra and Bhagdad in 10th and 11th century. It was about studies and acceptance of certain of Greco-Roman philosophy in Islamic laws by Islamic scholars. Unfortunately, due to Mongol invasion and destruction of Baghdad that great debate came to a complete halt. Concept of de-Arabization (culture) of Muslims of India is not a bad idea.

If "modern" muslims want to create create a culture surrounding modern technology, why care about Islamic reformation? Why not give up islam entirely. Not saying they should become Hinuds but at least atheism seems to be a fair balance. The reason they can't give up Islam is because over the course of the long-term, the aim to bring it back once they are powerful enough. The dangers of Taqqiya need not be stressed. We cannot take what muslims say at face value and always be skeptical of them. They've destroyed many cultures over the centuries. Plurality is the last thing on their minds.

After having won the Parliamentary election 2019, shockingly it appears that Modi as a PM of this country has been unexpectedly but certainly found changing while addressing to all other BJP/NDA’s members of the parliament. It appears as if he has decided to adopt Nehru/Gandhian philosophy perhaps to achieve World’s Peacemaker award or some recognition of that kind. Even after knowing the entire past History and the adverse effects of the long existence of Muslim religion in this country and their threat arising through spreading of Pakistani/ISI influential pockets in Indian soil, He has surprisingly declared that Muslim minorities in India are under fearful situation which is need to be changed by winning the confidence in them and hence all BJP MP’s should need to work specially by giving extra attention to gain their faith. If it is proved true, then such act will be clearly like betraying Hindus who have voted him for strong Nation in the world where Hindus can live safely, honourably and peacefully. Making Muslim population strong without doing any analysis and without understanding its consequences, would be certainly a act of self-destruction..!
Do you want to wish away the Muslim community from India!? Modiji is not the PM of the Hindus. He is the PM of the nation and he has a responsibility in getting the trust of the minorities as well to take the nation forward. The minorities will have to feel that they are equal citizens of the nation and the Government of the day has the duty of care to make sure that their welfare is there as the majority enjoys. If you are a fair minded person, you will agree with me. The fault of the previous Government was to ignore the majority and pamper the minorities and keep them as solid vote banks and they failed!

Modi should start working for a peaceful, gradual Exchange of Population, where all non-Muslims of Pakistan and Bangladesh should be exchanged for the Muslims in India. That would solve most of our problem.

Malhotra sahab, you are good speaker but I observed you several times customize religeous things and present it. In one of your seminars you said cow slaughter is not necessary in islam and a muslim can be good a good muslim without eating cow meat - I completely agree. But at the same time if a muslim wants to eat cow meat which his/her religion allows, what do you say there?
Also in this vide you are said once muslims are not bound to goto mosque, they can offer nimaz from anywhere in their private capacity - I partially agree because muslims are supposed to goto mosque and offe rnimaz alongwith his/her muslim mates in mosque. Yeah - if there is any issue, one is in jungle, travelling, not keeping well he/she can offer prayers wherever comfortable. As per your logic people will start offering prayers in their homes in their private capacity then mosques does not make send right.
Also I watched one of your videos where in you said marrying more than 1 wife is not in islam, its arab culture so why don't we create swadeshi muslims where in muslims should dissociate themselves from arab culture (dress, eating habits etc) - Here I again partially agree with you. See I can wear dhoti, I can eat vegetables and adopt any culture as long as it does not take me away from Islam & we are fine with that. But islam allows us to marry >1 women upto 4 (it has logic) so it is not culture. If one is financially strong and can do justice among among his wives he an marry.
1) Mrs Sumera, cow is a sacred animal in Hinduism. Why do Muslims have to eat beef as it really hurts the sentiments of Hindus? I think there should be a sense of mutual respect (as coined by Rajivji) towards each other. You don't require to eat beef to be a Muslim. Please understand this.
2)Rajiv ji said in a different context that a Muslim can pray to Allah without visiting a mosque. He didn't mean that mosques should not be there or visiting a mosque is a bad thing. Same thing applies to Hindus as well, we don't need to visit a temple to pray to Bhagwan/Bhagwati.
3)Look Islam allows you to marry more than 1 woman..But it is not a requirement to be a perfect Muslim. That's what Rajiv Ji would have meant.

The issue with Rajiv Malhotra is that he is neither an academic, nor a political leader, nor a social visionary, nor a historian, nor a writer. Without pre-eminence of some kind, it's hard to change the stoic Hindu mind which prefers the status quo to change. His ideas are provocative but haven't been rigorously tested because his audiences are mostly pliant. Unless Hindus learn to vigorously test ideas that they would like to see blossom, they are bound to fade away. For instance, why hasn't a single hindu billionaire donated to any of Rajiv's causes yet? Capital is a great test of the strength of ideas.
Rajiv Ji's suggestions should have been brought into implementation by our government. But sadly they are just a bunch of morons..
I agree that Muslims have a role to play in Indian Grand Narrative but fundamentally, the narrative of India is a dharmic (primarily Hindu, Buddhist, Jain & later Sikh) narrative. The dharmic lens should be used to look at Muslims and Xtians. The Abrahamic religions are an invasive species and will devour the host, if left unfettered. This is the sober reality, even though politically incorrect to state. AND they only understand the language of power. One group who has neither read the Muslim scripture but have been banking on the discourses of the Molanas in their Mosques & Madrasas. If the Molana is fiery they become firey. These hardliners Muslims have made Islam a monoster for unbelievers. They belive in converting the non Muslims by any fear & fowl way, all are practiced in India.If the Molana is moderate his followers become moderate without knowing the true Islam,& with reading Islamic scriptures. They believe proselytizing the non Muslims should be done by love, financial greed& flowery talks. The third category who are learned & tolerant understanding the flaws of their teachings ,out of natural inherent stick to their faith. They are maimed by the radical Islamists. The biggest tragedy is that an educated & learned Muslim can't stand before a radical illiterate Muslim. Rajiv Malhotra Ji has to learn more about the psychology of the Indian Muslims!

Unfortunately Mr. Malhotra has little or no idea about global geopolitics and history (he thinks the problems in Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan are due to ISIS/Taliban/Al-Qaeda). He doesn't know too much about Islam either. He is advocating surveillance of approximately 200 million Indian citizens by the government. If a citizen respects the constitution of a nation then that should be enough. Religion is every person's personal choice and a democratic government should stay out of it.

A the end of the day every other culture is doing the same. This world has become an Ideological Battleground.

As a muslim outside of India I listen his first presentation and half of his Q&A. I don’t believe he has good understanding on Islam or Muslims. If he believe he has that quality to rewrite narrative of a nation in order to solve on going issues with particular group, you have to study them sincerely. Otherwise you may have publicity and as a propagandist of ruling elites may earn some bucks.

The only solution is for the Muslims to realize that the book they chant about being the epitome of spiritual enlightenment and the last and sacred word of God is nothing but a bunch of plagiarised work from even older books and it is nothing but confusion and lies bound together in a medieval world which has no relevance with the current world now. Its most violent and virulent preachings to be taken as word of an omnipotent and compassionate God of mercy and love is even blasphemy against God, if there is one. It is like wearing a steel strait jacket and trying to swim in the sea, if you wish to act upon the book and live a life in the 21st century.
