Please Sarah, can you tell me how long it takes to start flowering, because this year i have a new babies around the mother bulb, and i don't know if i have to make them in different pots, especially because now summer is coming and i don't know if they will survive
This is the best video on Cyclamen from seeds to growing the plant! I've been searching and searching for so long for a video that shows how it's done and it is so easy to do. The others videos just did not cut it!. They will show everything but the right thing and made it so hard to where you just didn't want to try it. Thanks for this video.🌱🌺. How long did you soak the seeds?what was that you were using in the bottle? What type of soil did you use?
What are the white small pebbles in the earth of the pot ? Calcareous pebbles ? Does the plant need small pieces of calcar - sandstone - crushed gravel ?
You haven't done anything wrong here using the methods shown other than to have gone to a lot of effort for nothing. A much faster AND simpler method is simply to use a good free draining but moisture retentive compost mixed with either perlite or vermiculite. Sow thinly, cover lightly & water well making sure to allow the excess water to drain away then watering just enough to keep moist but not soaking after that. Greenhouse, coldframe or outside germination is absolutely fine but try to ensure cool growing conditions as this mirrors nature. PLEASE NOTE: if using outside germination EXCLUDE the cats as they'll just see your carefully sown seedtrays as the p-u-r-r-fect private outdoor loo. Prick out when large enough either straight into final growing possie or into trays until large enough for the garden. Cyclamen seeds are recommended as being best sown fresh to ensure good germination but I collect from my own plants as & when available, only sowing when seed production finishes to save time & it doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. Also often recommended to exclude light but I've never bothered & indeed I've often seen seeds having fallen into the soil's surface, having germinated just fine on their own of which I transplanted some prime examples today. Have successfully germinated literally hundreds of seeds this way without any fuss or bother & I'm just your average home gardening amateur.
This video instruction seems to be for tender or house cyclamen rather than Hardy Cyclamen. Your description seems to be more applicable to hardy cyclamen (unless you live in an area not subject to freezing). I think you description of the process is good.
I never cover mine, just let the pods explode in the garden and see them come up next year, have hundreds now 😍
That is awesome!
Its takes long time until flowering
