Tbh I think the right pair of glasses would look amazing on you, specially because you like to wear a short stubble and the glasses could create some intrest in the mid area in your face. I wouldn't go with something to dark because your hair are in the dark-blond area and your eye and skin color are light too. A pair of Aviators, wayfare in light brown horn or half half rim glasses would probably fit you.
I've been wearing overcoats since my 20s and I love them, and they've always been other than plain (mostly herringbone), so I disagree that your first overcoat should be in solid colour - dark grey herringbone for example is an equally safe and great-looking choice.
This style truly suits my profession. Finally found my aesthetic name (no anymore old money aesthetic as many guys refer it) could tell the differences!
Last year I acquired a vintage 100% cashmere charcoal gray overcoat for $30. It had hardly been worn, and I was able to get a lot of use out of it this winter. I have been looking to buy a proper walking umbrella, and I understand how it can be a rabbit hole! It's good to know someone else shares my desire for a good umbrella. Keep up the great content.
Yes, too many say that pea coats are acceptable substitutes for more proper coat styles. A car coat is the short option more befitting and the duffle coat is the more proper heavy go-to. BUT a lot of the coats now don't come big enough roomy to fit over other suiting and such, either.
Silk ties don't always stay as cinched up as you might like. Medallion and some other details can work almost as well or better than the wrong style of striped tie.
Great content 👍Dark academia is really a timeless style , the only con I see is the fact that it doesn't seems to be appropriated for summer, but I need to do more research on this style
Love Hugo Jacomet. Learned of him from Antonio Centeno in 2018, looked him up, been a fan ever since. Looking forward to another dark academia video! Also, just a quick update, I am loving my purchases from Thursday! Comfortable and handsome.
For those who have attended a prep school, college or university (public or private), do not overlook purchasing the actual school tie. Most institutions in the US offer these, often through their bookstore or alumni office. May I suggest attention to belts and buckles as well.
About accessories, you neglected to mention book bags, briefcases or messenger bags, which offer "academic style" men more options for self-expression than traditional briefcases do for businessmen. As for ties, those are increasingly uncommon in academia (and have been for decades) so your Dark Academic better not design his wardrobe around wearing ties. Your fisherman's knit sweater is okay, but there are many more ways to use sweaters (especially sweater vests) to vary this look.
I like ties in my outfits, and have started incorporating bow ties as well. I almost never go without something around my neck reminding me of mortality, and I do it my way and for no one else. Same reason I shave every morning with a straight razor.
@@chrisblanc663 bow ties are the worst. Use only for black tie events. Anything else makes you look like an out-of-touch East Coast liberal, or gay, or both.
Where I disagree with you is on the elbow patches and fake glasses. There reason old academics have elbow patches is because they have worn their beloved tweed jacket for many years and would rather patch the worn-out elbows than give up their treasured tweed. So they get them patched, as a utilitarian solution, rather than a contrived "look". (Alternative explanation, they don't go shopping much and would rather renew there old clothes than buy anew.) And wearing fake glasses just to look studious is idiotic (and inconvenient). A gentleman should always be authentic - fake glasses are like a fake watch. You will know the difference even if others don't, and if they do, then you are branded as a poseur.
You said you were moving to NYC. Have you discovered Crowley Vintage in Williamsburg yet? The owner used to work at Ralph Lauren and he is a wonderful source for old school quality pieces.
Dark Academia seems rather close to Ivy League. While I like vintage style, I'd say I am more drawn towards the English Country style. So my cable knit sweater is not like the thin one in Part 1 but rather an ivory colour heavy cable knit sweater handmade in Ireland.
I understand that glasses are a definite style piece. Unfortunately, a lot of men in the public eye, particularly those found providing political commentary appear to be going for glasses with brightly colored plastic frames. These are creepy and have an unavoidable soupcon of the child molester. One imagines the owner offering to let children play with them. Shades or clear glasses with brightly colored frames have their place - New Year's Eve parties, gag photos at weddings, Hallowe'en even. Regular day to day wear for adult men is, well, unappealing in the extreme.
I can understand the appeal, but at the same time, this style seems really pretentious and phony. It seems like edgy kids wanting to look smarter and more cultured than they actually are
I absolutely love the Dark Academia look. It's incredibly classy.
It is indeed

I have two overcoats right now, one in an olive green colour, and one in a brown burgundy and tan gun club check
Sounds like two very nice and individual choices

I've never had much use for fake eyewear and umbrellas.
I guess I'd rather be more authentic than stylish or whatever.

A fan? I don't know. There's some overlap or something with the buzzwords mostly.
A long/overcoat.
Boots
Glasses (round)
Scarfs
Sports coat/jacket
Watches
A walkable umbrella
Tie (stripped)
Cricket vest
Cricket sweaters
Gloves
Tweed. Cable knit.
Hey bro love this channel can you do a video on your favourite different colour combos with sports jackets/blazers with button ups and chinos?
good suggestion
DEFO A fan of this style so much appreciated.
More videos of this style?
Yes please my good man.
Great video. I like the why you present the subject.
Would love a part three! Maybe options for men who are attending university and are on a tight budget since the style is rooted in college life?

The clothes the young lady in the opening scene looks amazing, I want that look for myself. I wish I knew what she's wearing.
It’s Ralph Lauren, I don’t have any more info than that though
Thanks mate. I was fairly certain it might be but finding it on their website has been a bit of a challenge.@@Gent.Z
im 5'4 💀 if im wearing that long coat I'll be looking like dwarf
Thanks From an a academia guy.
Thanks. Now is perfect😂.😮.

I am not familiar with Crowley, but thanks for the recommendation. However; after some time in NY I am leaving for Chicago
I just recently discovered your channel and it is fabulous! Good luck in the Windy City!@@Gent.Z

Maybe you're just projecting? I guess that's how you would feel wearing this style, but your opinion or perception is not the universal truth
@@yizzymx me having an opinion on something doesn’t mean I’m projecting; it just means I have an opinion. No need to take it personally
