@@ElessarFreyI guess you make a good point. While I would not recommend making the chino the centerpiece of your Dark Academia wardrobe, wearing them every now and then as a more casual piece wouldn’t necessarily be inaccurate. That being said, I would still go for trousers more often than not.
Great video. This lifestyle, in all aspects is quite interesting and classy. I've adapted DA into my life wherever possible and it's amazing how it puts you in a different mindset. Formal without being too
@@richardzak2140 Thank you! It definitely helps you romanticize a season of the year that if otherwise often seen as depressing and dull. Furthermore, it also puts you in the mindset of actively wanting to study/develop yourself culturally, which I think is great
I had never heard of Dark Academia before watching this, but somehow I was already doing 90% of the things mentioned in this video. At least I have a name for it now. 😀
Too much cosplay for me, when you get into decor and hobbies to match the outfits. This is good for movies, not so much for a healthy modern life. I do like a touch of vintage and admire those who can pull it off as their style, (By vintage I don't mean those who have not grown out of wearing 80s graphic tees.) I prefer to add a splash here and there like a vintage 50s overcoat with a classic suit.
The lifestyle part is definitely not for everyone. I’ve found that the decor part (lights, music and scent) help me better focus on my work during the fall seasons. And some of the hobbies (piano, poetry, reading) are simply activities I enjoy doing, so I thoughht I’d share them with everyone. Glad you enjoyed the style part :)
Wow, people change their style nowadays like the weather. This week old money, the next one "dark academia" and the over next week they switch back to oversized baggy 90s A decade ago (before this social media bs) we used to call this just simply "classic preppy" look inspired by the contemporary fashion of the 1920s - 1950s. You younger people try to reinvent the wheel but forgets that all of this existed long before you discovered it and gave it a new name.
I like your small accent details you’re wearing. The black cufflinks, sigma ring on the pinky, and the black dial watch. Is that a JLC or Omega Deville? And watches or fountain pen you own that you can share a video about? What is that thing on your arm holding your sleeves? And thank you.
@@frankv7068 Thank you! I wish it was a Deville, it’s a Tissot Tradition. I could do a watch collection video at some point (thanks for the idea) but as for fountain pens I only have the one from Parker. On my arm I’m wearing a sleeve garter - a pretty inexpensive, yet useful item
You can't mix modern style "rules" with what he is talking about. He is not talking about fitting in at the office in 2024, he is talking a vintage look when the rules were more set and followed. Know your time frame.
@@CanadaFree-ce9jn If you look at vintage illustrations and photographs, you can see men wearing different colored leather gloves with shoes and boots.

That’s true, they were part of the working class, but they were also worn in large part by the youth (therefore the names “Newsboy/Bakerboy”. So I see no reason we shouldn’t think they were worn by students as well, especially in their past times
Chino/khaki trousers were a part of Ivy life ;and as such, I think they are appropriate for more casual days.
You mean American Ivy life, what he is talking about is even older than that. Think late 1800s to early 1900s, not 40's and 50's.
@@CanadaFree-ce9jnNot really, they were first used by students at prep schools in the 1920’s, so I’d say it’s an option.
