  • Kabir asks us to reflect on this puzzle and solve this unique riddle of life. Set in a playful folk tune, this bhajan points out the seeming contradictions of life.
Bere charhe so agdhar doobe…Niraadhaar vaipaaram, avadhoo,
    niradhaar vaipaaram, aissa gian vichaaram…
Ubat chale so nagari pahunche...Baat chale te loote, avadhoo,
baat chale te loote, aissa gian vichaaram…
Ek jevri sab laptaane...Ke baandhe ke chute, avadhoo,
ke baandhe ke chute, aissa gian vichaaram…
Mandir baithe chahundis bhige...Baahar rahe te sukhe, avadhoo,
baahar rahe te sukhe, aissa gian vichaaram…
“Reflect on this parable, O Learned One, and solve this riddle” He who gets on the boat surely gets drowned. He who does not get on the boat, crosses to the shore. He who takes the winding and rough road reached safely. He who takes the straight even road loses everything. Everyone is entangled with the same rope. Who gets caught and who gets released. He who sits in the temple gets drenched. He who remains outside stays dry. He who is touched by the arrow is always healthy. He who does not get struck by the arrown suffers. Without eyes he can see the whole world. He who has eyes cannot see anything
Kabir says, Could you solve this riddle? O Ignorant One, the whole world is blind!
Kahein Kabir, kacchi samajh pari hai... Yeh jag dekhe andhaa,
Kabiraa, yeh jag dekhe andhaa, aissa gian vichaaram…
