I always knew that 3's Company was "I Love Lucy" revisited. Lucy even did a special look back episode of 3's Company. The misunderstanding trope goes back a lot further than I Love Lucy. It was very common in Vaudeville skits. Shakespeare used it the Merchant of Venice and Romeo and Juliet. I wouldn't be surprised if it was used in Ancient Greek plays as well.
I always love it when you do I Love Lucy, Rick. That's what brought me here in the beginning. I do believe that I like the ending that aired better than what you said it was supposed to be. ❤
Great information Rick and wonder if ILL scripts are available still; one of my favourite episodes too; there are memorable moments in so many episodes; in this one it is Lucy having Ethel holding her so tight when she realises Madam X is not her. Wishing you and all your subcribers a Merry Christmas and truly a hopeful New Year!!
Rick, I'm glad the producers chose to go with the ending that was aired (where Ricky captures Madame X). Christmas blessings upon you and your new bride as you celebrate your first Christmas together as a married couple! 🎄
Great video! Especially you singing the outro music of I Love Lucy! lol. Question! 🙋♂️. Did Desi really leap and tackle Madame X in the episode or was that a stunt double?
One of my favorite episodes. Both Lucy and Ethel thinking they’re Jessica Fletcher (or Miss Marple which is closer the time period) Lucy’s line “if its money u want Ill pay you what i owe you” Ethel directing Fred in the hall “She went that way” “This way” and he runs in opposite direction. 😆 BTW Rick I dont think youtube likes you much. Im subbed all notifications turned on, but i wasn’t feeling good all day when u posted and I had to keep scrolling down to find the video while others i dont have all notifications or any notifications kept going up to the top and i didnt have to search for them
OHHHH! I never realized Fred was cowardly trying to avoid the burglar. I thought he just didn't trust Ethel to give him the right direction in a crisis. Thanks for pointing that out. 😂
I like the ending they went with, and I think the very best and the funniest part of the episode is Fred showing his cowardice. It’s so funny. I laugh every time I watch it. 😄
Hey @RickNineg Did you ever catch this little audience snafu ? I know this is outside the theme of this video, but I didn’t know where to ask Did you ever hear the audience lady ask her friend ( heard in Season 5, Episode 10 “Ricky’s European Booking”) what the sign says that Lucy was carrying ( “Ricky Ricardo Unfair”) . You have to listen carefully as Lucy carries the hand made sign into the kitchen and they allowed the audience members question and answer “what did the sign say?” And her friend says “Ricky Ricardo Unfair”. I heard this years ago and had forgotten which episode until tonight we were watching on Paramount and as soon as I saw the sign I knew I came across the episode. It must have been 20 years since I heard it on local Channel 5 in NYC back before they showed them on cable like TVLand etc
Don't know if the original would have worked as well! Noting that they're in the second apartment kitchen, it sure seems smaller than the first season. Also, the quaint row of the classic Pyrex primary bowls now sit stacked inside each other on top of the refrigerator the way Pyrex designed them to do.
@@PaulTestamy mom had the primary colors set, but the two smaller ones - the blue and red had eventually broken. The green and largest yellow one lasted the longest and Jell-O was usually made in the green, while family sized potato and macaroni salads were made in the yellow!
The other ending sounds really boring for the show. That’s the kinda ending for the Donna Reed show or the kind of show that has a specific moral each episode.
Maybe the network insisted on changing the ending to prove that crime never pays, which it would have with the original ending. My least favorite episode of THREE'S COMPANY is "Jack's Navy Pal", where a jerk of a Navy acquaintance of Jack's (certainly no pal) gets away with beating up Jack & wrecking the apartment.

I like how they ended it with Ricky catching Madam X. Ì don't think the other ending would have been that good.
I agree.
I like when Lucy says, "If it's money you need, I'll pay you what I owe you!"
I was gonna comment same thing 😂 its one of my favorite lines from the episode 😆

This was the second of three appearances by Allen Jenkins as a policeman on the show.
Thanks, Rick for all the hard work. I love Lucy.❤
“Too Many Crooks” is my favorite episode as an adult! I think the ending they went with is the best! I crack up every time 😂
I looked up Alice Wills-she lived only to the age of 50, sadly. Her husband and son were both stuntmen.
I always love it when you do I Love Lucy, Rick. That's what brought me here in the beginning. I do believe that I like the ending that aired better than what you said it was supposed to be. ❤
This is my favorite episode! Love it when Fred took off the other way. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for your amazing content. You have a wonderfully soothing voice that is great for voice overs!!! Happy Holidays!
Fred in general has the best lines in every episode that he's in!

Merry Christmas to you too❤
The ending we see is the best! No changes!
You are super amazing Rick and I learn so much from you about I love Lucy.
Thank you for watching!
Love this episode!!! One of my top episodes!!!
No, the alternate ending sounds like a lecture. "Let this be a lesson to us! Never again shall I jump to false conclusions or suspect my friends."
Thanks so much Rick! Appreciate all your hard work. I trust you have a most blessed Christmas...God's blessings to you always!
Merry Christmas! Thank you
Always a good time to learn more about I Love Lucy. Keep up the great work Rick, I hope you’re doing well. Have a great day and take care!
Thanks Jared!
You've got it going on,Rick.
excellent video keep up the great work

You are most welcome. I agree, the ending they went with was perfect. Merry Christmas!
Lucy appeared in a 3s company episode..
Yes, as announcing the retrospect of the show.
I would call that a special not an episode
@@lazyhomebody1356 ok..an installment.
@pl5624 It would have been so wonderful to have Lucy on a regular episode 🥲

Sort of a mistake. Why would Madam X jump on the couch to be tackled by Lucy?!

Lucy Ball hosted a Threes Company special back in the `80s

Thanks for sharing those warm memories!
I just watched this episode. I like the way it ended. Rick, my husband is now hooked on ILL thanks to Pluto TV!
Definitely the tackle ending. The ending was the funniest moment of the show and with the alternate ending it would be less popular. Great video Rick!
The other ending sounds really boring for the show. That’s the kinda ending for the Donna Reed show or the kind of show that has a specific moral each episode.
They made a mistake. Madam X isn’t a woman! It’s a man. It’s Rick Nineg Mr. X!
I remember this episode.
Yes , I loved the ending
It cleared both Ethel and Lucy’s name 😅
Keep the ending how it was shown.
My favorite part from this episode is when Fred picked up the silver cigarette case and then rubbed his prints off.

No sitcom holds up better than this one. Other old shows feel stale, dated. This show is always great.
