Mexican cultural food is traditionally African food such as rice, beans and so on. That in itself tells you the people came from Africa at some time long before there was the country of Mexico, which was in the 1820s. And definitely long before the Spanish colonized the land and genetically changed up the phenotypes of most the modern day Mexicans we see today.

Mexicans have Filipino ancestry. Genetic studies indicate that about a third of people sampled from Guerrero, Mexico have Asian ancestry that matches populations in the Philippines. This ancestry is thought to have originated in Southeast Asia, specifically western Indonesian and non-Negrito Filipino sources, and arrived in Mexico around 1620 CE.

Amazing work, Ace! I legit cried when African contributions to Mexican culture were brought up, especially when Dr. PHC talks about how people try to pretend African DNA is just a recessive gene and not really part of Mexico's makeup. You're not culture vulturing, you're shining light on a piece of us everyone else pretends doesn't exist while shutting them away. You're bringing awareness to a group of folks long kept in the dark. For once, I feel seen. When I explain that my dad's side of the family is Afro-Mexican, people look at my skin and act like I'm either crazy or making it up, meanwhile my dad and grandma dealt with horrible prejudice and being called "negros asquerosos" (disgusting blacks) and all other vile insults when they were in big cities like Reynosa and Tampico back in the day. When I explain stuff like horchata and jamaica being an example of black influence on Mexican culture, I have to hear a whole stupid thing about how I'm wrong and that there aren't any Black people in Mexico, just really brown Mexicans. Your work completely rips this type of ignorance a new one. Your work matters and I hope you keep it going. The experiences and contributions of Afro Latinos everywhere need to be seen after being kept in the dark for so long.

Really cool and educational to see my family history on this video. I am blessed to have literally experience visiting and living on my Grandfather's ranch in Muzquiz Mexico. The habitat and living my aunt Bertha described was a fun spending time with my Grandparents Simon an Viola. I liked visiting my cousins there on the ranch. We rode horses, helped herd goats, fed cows ,chickens and pigs. I remember having to get water from the arroyo (river, creek) with buckets. So many stories and memories. My mom Rosemary Fay who has gone to heaven would have been happy to see all this still going on where she grew up with her siblings in
    ( nacimiento / Muzquiz).

It is my perception that he is trying to acknowledge the existence of black people in Mexico. None of them are Afro-Mexicans, those in the video are runaway slves from the USA, therefore they are African American-Mexicans, their slve history started in the south, not in Mexico. Afro-Mexicans are the descendants of slves brought over by the SPANISH into MEXICO

As of 2018, mitochondrial DNA study carried out on Olmec remains, one from San Lorenzo and the other from Loma del Zapote, resulted, in both cases, in the “unequivocal presence of the distinctive mutations of the “A” maternal lineage. That is, the origin of the Olmecs is not in Africa but in America, since they share the most abundant of the five mitochondrial haplogroups characteristic of the indigenous populations of our continent: A, B, C, D and X.💯🧬🧾🧬....not african decendant or black

I love the interesting and TRUE history these folks are sharing...not like some of the conspiracies about the first Americans (don't mean to insult anyone!). This is history straight from those who lived it! Keep up the good work! P.S. (Do you know who Tio Choko is? These cowboys must be related!)
