I am a book person too. I love having books that I can pick up and learn from or revisit. Lol with a book you never have to worry about the battery going dead.
Grey, your just a rambling man.🤣 Love it. I’m grateful for this vid. Reminds me to get back into my books. I came here from Cali before their fall & didn’t want to be here in low desert Az but I was married &… my friend told me to stop & do something about it & go to the Botanical Garden which gave me access to mountains of info not just plants but native culture which now ties into my prepping. They have an extensive library & now I look for ancient ways of living.(just in case) Books are the real cornerstone to rebuilding our possible future in an uncertain time. Thx 🙏 ❤
😆 I really appreciate that! And you're absolutely right. Books would be absolutely essential in rebuilding after a major catastrophic event. From our history, religion, and basic needs from medical, farming, and so on.
Evening Grey. Seriously i have thousands of books in all genres. Most are some kind of how to books, specialty books on certain subjects. One thing i saw years ago was the change of the content, so i gathered old history books too. Also books like Henley's formulas, general how to prepare/mix/make thousands of products at home. Also old encyclopedia sets. So much information that could be lost if/when things go south. ✔️
Great books suggestions! I agree some folks may over look the value in books, especially the younger folks. I try to tech my grand kids the value of reading and leaning things from books when they are over.
HI Grey all these books are wonderful to have for adults. There also should be a place in preparation for people with younger children. If stuck in the house for a long time kids need stimulation. Parents can and should have books on hand they can sit with their kids and have story time. Think about it as if you were a child with nothing to do. Great video Grey and you don't ramble too much you are just very precise. God Bless see ya for fun time Monday with Rudy 🙏❤️🙏
Thank you GreyMan ❤️✝️, I use to work in a book factory and wondered 20 years ago what would happen to it,now it's just about closed.ive never bought an e-book.. probably never will.
Book are key even with the internet they is so much false or incorrect information out there on the Internet. searching for info on the web is like getting 5 different responses to a single question looking for the Answer. Great video 👍
Every time I run into a situation wheras I'm searching for information and it lead me to look for books on that topic, which has helped me build a more diverse library. 😁👍
I love 1) Dr Alton book is the best 2) Readers Digest BACK TO BASIC 3) Foxfire Series 4) herbal remedies in your area. 5) edible plants in your area 6) Ball complete canning guide
I have a Blue Book. But my canning go-to is an owners manual from a Mirro canner from the 1960's. Covers every food in every form you could want, in easy tables. Love it!
Although I have lots of books, I find that sometimes you need to fill in the gaps. When I find articles online, I print them and put them in a three ring binder. This includes maps of areas of importance too. And if you don't have it, get a copy of 'The Zombie Survival Guide' by Max Brooks. There is a lot of good information pertaining to prepping in it.
Thanks so much! I love seeing what other's are buying and reading.I'd appreciate you showing more of repair type books. I have some, but honestly, they're not great. They say complete guide but kind of miss the mark. Anyway, thanks again, I now have some new books to get and add to my collection. By the way, if you haven't read it Decline and Decay by A. American and Alan Kay has some really helpful info.
Good stuff ! I'm older so my books are about two generations older . The same concept of future availability of information applys . Be a Renaissance man , meaning wide base of knowledge . You don't have to have superior knowledge in all skills , but enough knowledge to provide for your needs . The jack-of-all-trades , if you will . Skynet may not go down , BUT , it will change . Information in the area of independence may be controlled in the future . Parting Shot : "knowledge is power ."
i read about 5 books at a time - paper, kindle, and my pc's and my phones. now i'm hammering on flintknapping by john c whittaker it tell's how to make the tools and understand them,
I love my books i have been stacking prepping books for a few years. Mike Glover book Prepared is great. And the survival medicine handbook is the best of the best.
surprised you didn't have the SAS on the list, That one comes up a lot. But all in all Mike & Joshua are great folks to learn from! Thanks for the suggestions brother, love to hear what others suggest as t gives me some ideas.
Yeah, I was thinking of pulling that one off the shelf, but I had used that one in several other videos, so I figured I'd change it up a bit. It is truly a great book.
Butchering: poultry, rabbit, lamb, goat, pork by Adam Danforth. Beat picture book on butchering. Homesteading: A backyard guide to: growing your own food…. Edited by Abigail R Gehring Five acres and independence by MG Kains Mini farming self sufficiency on a 1/4 acre by Markham The lost book of herbal remedies by Nicole Apelian Carrots love Tomatoes &roses love garlic (which veggies grow well with other veggies and which ones are enemies) by Louise Riotte The handbook of vintage remedies by Hawkins And finally a journal you make with anything you run across that would be useful. Minimize notes and recipes or whatever. My favorites anyway.
Great suggestions...thank you! 🙌 A couple of books I am reading at the moment are: Prepper's Pantry - Daisy Luther, Root Cellaring - Mike & Nancy Bubel. One that I read recently was Left of Bang...that had good info. I really enjoyed Mike Glover's book as well. One I refer to in the spring time: Companion Planting for Beginners - Brian Lowell...really easy to follow and look up things by vegetable/plant type for the garden. I have many others but those are the ones that came to mind after seeing the video. 🙂
There were so many great books in the video! I have a couple of them, but need to get them all. I may have a slight book obsession lol. I like having the books in my library, vs having to wonder if the online version has been messed with via AI, or others that don't want the correct info getting out there. Thank you for including the canning books in there too. It often gets overlooked, and I feel it is equally important. One book that I have found really informative is Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cression Kearney. Another book that I go to a lot for quick info is the Pocket Reference by Thomas J. Glover.
I am a book aholic. Agree with other comment about content change - especially with bibles. I need a book on basic auto and home maintenance. Suggestions? Thanks 👍
one of the best info is from this = John McPherson - Ultimate Guide to Wilderness Living and his video's are each subject in his 1st book (the brown one)
I’ll stop commenting but something I rarely hear about is people buying sprouting seeds. I do microgreens above other things but sproutjng seeds make edible greens in 5-10 days. Talk about instant food verses waiting for a garden. All you need is small amounts of water and a container. They don’t even need sun until you chose to green them up. Bulk seeds store small and kept in a cool location can last forever but you can also grow most out to full size to recollect seeds for your supply.
I appreciate your comments. Anything to add to the conversation is helpful. I myself sprout seeds, we have been building a huge seed vault as I feel in a true shtf situation they will be worth their weight in gold.
Nice! I have a lot of books, including one for Florida edibles.😄 Don't forget to add the bible to your survival library.👍 Have a great weekend.
Absolutely! God bless you, JT, and have a blessed evening 🙏💛😊

Agreed brother, I have to old encyclopedia sets myself. I make my daughter use the one in her room for reference material in her school work. 🤘
Lost both my encyclopedia sets when my husband died and his family cleaned out his house☹️
That's a shame 😔
Love to see books on small engine repair, also small appliances repair like toaster ovens, mini fridge, microwave.
I'll have to do a follow or part 2 of this topic. 👍
GREAT INFO! Thank you!
My pleasure 😁👍
Great info thanks for sharing.
You bet, brother 🤘🇺🇲
I am a bit biased I would add some gardening books in there as well lol 🤣
I agree with ya lol I do have a large collection of gardening & homesteading books 😊👍
Great books suggestions! I agree some folks may over look the value in books, especially the younger folks. I try to tech my grand kids the value of reading and leaning things from books when they are over.

I love physical books! I even have some of your recommended books.
That's great to hear 😊
Appreciate this type video. I prefer reading real paper over screen.
Agreed 😁 and thank you!
This video fits perfectly where we are in our prepping. I think having books is imperative in case of power and Internet down situations.
I agree wholeheartedly 😊 Thanks for watching Annette 🙏
Thx Greyman Prepper...Sean
My pleasure, Sean 😁👍

I go clear back to Mr MEL TAPPEN. Yep I'm old. I must have over 80 books. Some are good and others future fire place starters. 👍
Agreed 😆👍
Ball blue book of canning. One hundred and one thing to do before the revolution.
I'm a hard copy book person. Have been considering getting more of the foraging type guides to add to my collection.

I have lots of canning and cook books but you have definitely opened my eyes to some new book ideas. Thank you!
You are so welcome, Mildred! Have a blessed evening. 🙏😊
I love books. Mine are sorely lacking.
You can find some really affordable books at thrift shops and yardsales.

You can pick up books used but in great shape. Depending on the popularity of the book you can get them for half of the new price
Like your intro music selections. Might add some Allman Brothers 😉
That would be cool if the tube's wouldn't hit me with a copyright restriction.
Foxfire, at least the first 5 or 6 volume is wonderful
Thanks for the suggestion.
