The “you’re too late” line is so well done here!!! Legit scary and seeing Vanessa devolving into a demonic creature each time it shoots back to her in this scene is so satisfying as remaining true to the idea of the original.
Disney definitely made Vanessa a lot more diabolical and frightening in this version! Her performance gave me chills. Love the purple dress too! 💜 The part when she yells “YOU’RE TOO LATE!” as the soundtrack bass drops is very chilling
She also did it almost perfectly compared to the animated cartoon. Love; someone who watched the cartoon movie over and over and over for three months straight at my grandparents house... I'm so sorry GMA/GPA, I truly am 😅❤

When i was a kid, this part in the original movie scared me so much that I ran out of the room until after the transformation. Every. Single. Time. As an adult, watching this clip scares me just as much. Just so we're clear, its not the actual transformation that I find scary. It's Vannessula's face getting all villainy and her real voice coming out of her mouth that scared me. The actual transformation was a relief.

Yes, but while cartoon Eric was litteraly under a spell, this eric was willingly marrying Vanessa. And, if you see the woman you love turned into a mermaid, i think it's natural being a little confused and overwhelmed by it.
At least Ursula, was kind enough to take the brunt of that dive into the ocean from that height. When Ursula, came grabbing and pushin' she also provided the cushion.
