Love your ffxiv videos, the narration is easy to listen to and the way you talk about the game is interesting and not just, “press this skill then this skill”.
I used to play samurai but ive switched to other jobs a while back. After watching your video, i think Im going to give sam another try 😄 Love your video!
incredible that this video appears just as last night, (after remembering why i don’t play ninja much, it gets boring quick in my opinion)i decided to try and figure out samurai after i unlocked it ages ago, got dizzy with all the buttons, and never touched it again until now 😂 but i did a crystal tower run and more or less figured out the base rotation and its so fun! now onto leveling and understanding the mechanics of the job more deeply, but im excited and kinda sad i hadn’t given it a try before. great video, you explained everything really nicely!
nice, glad you're enjoying it :) all of the buttons seem a little overwhelming at first but once it clicks it's pretty straightforward imo. the job's in a very good place right now in my INCREDIBLY unbiased opinion lol
I've been playing samurai for 3+ years as a main class. I didn't know anything about samurai job s such, I took it because I simply love samurai and katana. And been playing this job as main since then. Have numerous other classes as well that I play here and there, on one run or another.
Samurai was my first main job for nearly a year. Now I'm a Tank main, but SAM is so nice to go back to. If I had to describe it, it's Black Mage's Melee equivalent. Something I like to make note on, Samurai having no team utility is kind of wrong ; Samurai's extremely high damage and guaranteed critical moves gives the party the perfect target for buffs
@Kydrex09 It's fine, I'm just a stickler for the whole "Samurai beings nothing too the party". Not that you said that mind you, I just like remind people that Samurai is THE buff target if there's one in the party, which beings a lot more too the party than people might consider lol. I really enjoyed the video though!
yeahh the good ol "SELFISH DPS" when it's our responsibility to play under all party buffs as best as we can :') i guess it kinda depends on your perspective of how you play samurai at that point, but there's definitely a lot more going on than it just being a "selfish job" because it lacks a raid buff
Indeed it is. I love the flexibility of the rotation and the small caster vibes, as well as the damn satisfying big hits. I should play it more, if I wasn't so fond of Black Mage lol
Machinist main popping in to say great vid. Job for you is a mantra I always tell people. Now if only someone could give the masters of machines the same level of attention as this vid did to the kings of katanas. Samurai for a while was one of my fav jobs to play when I wanted to shake up my tome grinding and play something easy to start, but Viper has slowly (more so after its rework) taken its place as my fav casual DPS, but I always make sure to keep a katana ready. The job fantasy is so strong with Samurai.
thank you :) ive tried dabbling with machinist in the past but it's never really clicked for me. ive been meaning to give another shot this expansion mostly for the 2 drill charges, but im really bad at motivating to level jobs lol
i dont know how else to say it but sams 2 min burst is really satisfying to do it feels like you are just chaining nukes one after the other the sound the effects just feel really good
I am in love with Samurai! I started as a Dragoon main, but a while back, I decided to level Samurai as well. The more I played Samurai, the more I loved it, and when I got frustrated with animation lock during raids, I decided to switch to Samurai as my main job.
The thing is I started off with Gladiator and got it up to Paladin. I also did the same with rogue up to Ninja in another character. I tried out casters and ranged dps aswell as other tanks. But out of everything for both characters I went to samurai and stuck to it cause its just awesome and so much fun. May speak more about me than the other classes but samurai is just awesome
Am from WOW and I came to FF14 few months back. I saw samurai animation and immediately knew I wanted to main this job. After the msq I took about a week to play the rotation in a stable manner. Now am I complete the current savage and fully 730 geared. I tried viper which is fine but brain dead rotation, but I keep coming back to Sam. I just love it 😂
As someone who is an BLM main and now is leveling sam to 100 to possibly play sam! I can't wait to play sam and learn all the new techs that sam players do Question about sam are the casts as long as blm is or are the shorter asking because I hate the extremely long cast times of crit blm atm
the cast times are much shorter than blm casts! at lv. 74 the cast time will be lowered to 1.3 seconds, so it feels more like a healer gcd's cast time than a black mage's. you'll also unlock your tsubame attacks at that level too and they're all instant cast.

thank you :) i'm aiming to be more consistent with my uploads now so hopefully there'll be a new vid here every couple weeks \o/

oh yeah for sure, i suppose i could have phrased it better cuz it's definitely THE job to play under buffs
