    If it sinks or stays at the bottom, it is still fresh. An older egg will either stand on its end or float. The float test works because air builds up inside the egg as it ages, increasing its buoyancy. However, an egg that floats may still be safe to eat, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We have tested our different shaped free ranged eggs and our fresh eggs always sink and lay flat. and the older eggs always float. I would never eat a floater even though the USDA tells us some could be good.

      yes, eggs that sink are fresh. But eggs that float may also be fresh! I've had eggs that are less than 2 weeks old (and refrigerated) stand up. They were 100% fine to eat. Another example of know your farmer/chickens!

      @@FarmerKaty standing up is way different than floating floating eggs should be warned not to eat
