Stretch and build that technique in classes! It's not a skill most can get in a short amount of time, but I've had some friends do it and I know it's possible!

I practically/almost just got my splits yesterday and I’m trying to learn all the techniques this February, do you think I could make it in time? Also do you have any tips for lifting your legs higher in the air when doing a jump split/jete leap/stationary/toe touch/etc.? Anddd one more thing, do you usually go to summer practice in July becausee that’s my bday and I kinda wanna enjoy it without sweating/being tired😅

Hey hey! I think if you attend classes and have a relatively solid technique and musicality you could make it. Legs being higher comes with strength of your muscles and flexibility. If you work on both you could get them a bit higher, but not everyone’s leaps are as high. We do practice in summer love and we don’t get any say on the schedule of practices😅 My team starts practicing July 15th ish if that helps. Though it depends on your team

Hi! I have auditions in a couple of weeks and I have everything down besides kicks and leaps. I can do it but I’m not the best at it. Is there anyway I could get a few tips? I know everything else besides the kicks 😅
plie a lot for leaps and extend your legs all the way to make sure they're straight. Kicks are something you're usually not expected to be perfect at when you audition! hope this helps. Ask me any questions you have on the comment I left pinned above!
Hi Angelica I love u name btw lol but I’m trying out for drill team in march so soon 😅and I’m not sure if I will make it because I just know my right spilts , a right leap , and sorta a double turn pirouette , and a high kick and I need to work on a lot but I wanted to know if they pick people who are just starting ?
@@lachellee Hii there, I made it to the JV team last week. One of my biggest tips is going to your schools dance studio practices whenever they offer, before school or after school times, and if u are able to go there should be some of the other more experienced dancers that you can ask to help you on your skills if u need it, trust me it really helps! Another thing is recording yourself practicing the skills to help you see the mistakes you are doing and keep rerecording to see any improvements. So overall, just practicing your skills on a daily basis will be really helpful. I wish you the best of luck!! You will make it!!
Dance is definitely more than just flexibility. It involves technique, quality of movement, and performance quality too. Try to take some dance classes before try outs so you can be as prepared as you can and have a higher chance of making it. Good Luck babe♥️
I have never done dance but i'm trying out for the drill team. I have done competitive cheer for 7 years so I have good rhythm and flexibility, but i'm nervous since i've never done dance. Any recommendations??
Im trying out for my JV drill team and I have so many questions!? Do you need to have your spilts to make it cause i've been dancing for 11 years competitively for 6 years but i still don't have my spilts so do you need them to make the team??
Does anyone know if I can try out for drill team for my senior year? i have no dance background but I am practicing all the techniques that I’ve researched for it.
I’m in 8th grade, I don’t really have any previous training but I REALLY love dancing and im trying out for my highschool’s drill team in April. I’m trying to learn everything I need, but as someone who doesn’t have any training, just drive, are my chances good? The director said she looked for potential overall, and I have good showmanship. I’ve tried out for dance company and scored high on artistry but about average or maybe a little bit below on technique. Does anyone have any advice for me?? It’s something I really want and will work hard for but I want to be realistic
Flexibility! Go take a technique class or do some online. Point your feet and try to look coordinated even if you’re not super confident in technique yet!
Hey i really want to join the dance team for 9th grade but it's my first time and I have no experience at all don't really know what to expect for tryouts any tips??
First of, ask if you can actually be in the varsity team during your freshman year. Most teams don't allow that because try outs happen the year previous to your joining! If you haave any questions at all, ask me on the comment I left pinned above!!
dude i wanted to join my first semester but a friend said i’d have to wait until second semester which would be like competition 🙁. and i’m rlly rlly nervoys

Hey I’m in 8th grade I did middle school drill team from 7-8 grade and wanna try out for high school fo I need to take privates at a studio or something to make it?
Hi!!! I am actually the social president so yes for sure. My best friend is captain too. Ask me any questions on the comment I left pinned above. I want to make an even more in depth video for this!
I was on drill team as a freshman(From Utah). I found out today I will not be on that team as a sophomore, I was cut as one of 8 girls who were trying out as returning members and was the only returner cut. Now I have to find something to fill the next year of my life. Part of me is still hoping that the list was rush printed and my name was accidently left off.
@@AngelicaMichelle So the list was not rush printed. I didn't make make Drill Team or The Cheer Team, so I will be dancing a solo (possibly two) and hopefully being part of a high school dance class at the studio I work at If there is enough girls interested in doing it. I don't know if I'm gonna tryout for the drill team next year cuz my parents didn't want me trying out again this year. However with the looks of things right now My school's Drill team is not going to do as well as they have been the last few years. The coach is honestly just trying to win state the way our rivals did and not the way we have before. She is just hungry for the state title and is gonna hurt her girls in the process, my(although not very nice) hope is that she's gonna decide to stop coaching once the senoirs this year graduate.
@@emiliestewart2742 that’s okay girl, if I’m all honest with you, dancing a studio will always help u grow much more as a dancer than drill team♥️ and You always have my channel for fun dance content. Remember life always gives us what we need even if we don’t understand why.

@@AngelicaMichelle thank you!! :)
@@AngelicaMichelle thank you so much!! I was able to make the team! And I’ll definitely take that advise.
@@TheSpotw-EmiliePodcast SO PROUD!!! I wish you the best, and I really hope you enjoy the journey that it is to be in drill team❤️

Glad you liked it!!😘❤️
Hi Angelica I love u name btw lol but I’m trying out for drill team in march so soon 😅and I’m not sure if I will make it because I just know my right spilts , a right leap , and sorta a double turn pirouette , and a high kick and I need to work on a lot but I wanted to know if they pick people who are just starting ?
It depends love! I would talk to the school director and focus on what she says they're looking for. What team?
my middle school does drill and i did competitive dance for 8 years do u think i could make it?
No doubt I think you are more prepared than most♥️
I’m in 8th grade and I want to do this freshman year when is it best to start lessons for drill team?
Some teams are more technical than others. The more experienced you are the better always though!
are they looking more at progressions or how well you execute the dance?
Both!!
amazing video it was really entertaining
Yay
Would you mind to subscribe my channel. I subscribed yours
i have tryouts in 2 weeks and we only get to learn the choreo in 2 days .. online .. that’s gonna be hard😭
You got this!!
Did you make it??
yes i did
@@valeriaaguirre5969 Congrats!!🎉 Got any tips for me with leaps? Tryouts is April 17 🙈
I am really nervous! I am dancer but I am more of a hip hop dancer. Do you think I will fit in and it would be good to tryout?
Hey! I Think It depends on each team! Which team are you trying to try out for?
@@AngelicaMichelle Its a drill team in Houston Texas
@@swarnikasingh8208 Its only one dance team and it's a drill team. They have a hiphop dance part in the competitions they go to.
@@alexandrajimenez6686 what team love?
@@AngelicaMichelle The Lariettes and Belles drill team at George Ranch High School
I was wondering what happens if you tryout and dont make it?
Depends on your school! Mine you simply have to try again next year
Do you compete against the woodlands highschool drill team?
Sponge Bob good question what’s you guys’ name? If the go to CP competitions maybe
@@AngelicaMichelle Highsteppers, we also have like a sister school called reveliers.

Awww tysm! 💕
i have no experience in dance but i’m flexible, do you think i’ll be able to make the team? I really want to make it but i feel like it’ll be hard
Dance is definitely more than just flexibility. It involves technique, quality of movement, and performance quality too. Try to take some dance classes before try outs so you can be as prepared as you can and have a higher chance of making it. Good Luck babe♥️
Answering more in depth in my video today!
I have never done dance but i'm trying out for the drill team. I have done competitive cheer for 7 years so I have good rhythm and flexibility, but i'm nervous since i've never done dance. Any recommendations??
Also this year is the first year my high school is having a drill team so I know the expectations won't be super high, but I still want to do good.
Im trying out for my JV drill team and I have so many questions!? Do you need to have your spilts to make it cause i've been dancing for 11 years competitively for 6 years but i still don't have my spilts so do you need them to make the team??
Flexibility is sometimes part of the score sheet. Talk to your director about how they score auditions!!
@@AngelicaMichelle I made it!!!
Is there tumbling involved? Because my tumbling is not that good
Nope! That would be cheerleading hahaha.
@@AngelicaMichelle my team i am trying out for has tumbling and most dance teams do
@Riah Reagan that’s cool! Just Not common in the Houston area :)
hello im trying to do drill team and when u first go up there do to dance on your own?
no you do it in groups!
Does anyone know if I can try out for drill team for my senior year? i have no dance background but I am practicing all the techniques that I’ve researched for it.
Depends. Most teams have u try out a year before u join the team. If you’re a senior right now I’m not sure, but if you’re a Junior maybe you can!
But ur my fav cavalette❤️❤️go drill team
I love you Lills😘
Hey! Gonna be answering your question in depth in my video today♥️
dude i wanted to join my first semester but a friend said i’d have to wait until second semester which would be like competition 🙁. and i’m rlly rlly nervoys
Im shooting for the varsity team wish me luck!

Hey I’m in 8th grade I did middle school drill team from 7-8 grade and wanna try out for high school fo I need to take privates at a studio or something to make it?
Depends on your experience and the team you’re auditioning for! Some are more technical than others! Speak to your director about it :)
I’m in 8th grade, and in drill team do you audition alone for with a a group?
I’m a group! At least in my team❤️
@@AngelicaMichelle Oki! Thank youuu I hope it’s the same for my school
hiii do you have anything for lieutenant/ dance officer tryout interview ?
Hi!!! I am actually the social president so yes for sure. My best friend is captain too. Ask me any questions on the comment I left pinned above. I want to make an even more in depth video for this!
Going to respond to this in a video today♥️
I was on drill team as a freshman(From Utah). I found out today I will not be on that team as a sophomore, I was cut as one of 8 girls who were trying out as returning members and was the only returner cut. Now I have to find something to fill the next year of my life. Part of me is still hoping that the list was rush printed and my name was accidently left off.
Oh my gosh girl I am so sorry. That has never happened on my team. Wish you the best, and I hope you update me on this!!!
Remember life always gives us what we need even if we don’t understand why.
love it ♥
😘❤️
I made the team in middle school team
Congratulations!!!
Do you really need to be flexible to join ?
Might depend on the team but it’s a specific skill scored in auditions for my team so just ask!
Answering more in depth in today’s video😘
Are drill teams just in Texas
Dance teams exist nation wide. From what I understand, the traditional drill team originated in Texas and is only a thing in Texas :)
