Another fascinating listen! Absolutely blown away by the commitment of these men. We would all like to say we would be able to show the same courage in that situation but I imagine the reality would be very different. I was a catholic who grew up in the north during the troubles. I did not support the IRA but I do understand why it all happened, on both sides. I did not suffer horrifically as others did but I did face discrimination and intimidation from local Protestants , say, as a kid. The IRA actually made things worse in a sense for many ordinary Catholics as when they launched an attack that killed cops, Protestants etc, it was mainly normal Catholics like me who had to pay the price . I didn’t live in one of the republican strongholds like Derry or Belfast so my experience was pretty different

Yes his brother drove the bombs to the warehouse and he could have been charged and wasn't however lots of people knew about the warehouse. What the police did is an old trick and clearly there was a possibility he was being set up. Was a confession extracted from his brother under torture? If he denied it until the end then the grounds for his execution would have been very flimsy indeed.
