Some of it is inaccurate That area was trashed before 2000 and 1990. Born and raised 79th Escanaba , it was violent in the 80’s There are not many grocery options anywhere Never been great not even in the 70’s Beautiful area but very dangerous

@@brian636 correct me if im wrong, but they also didn't allow fathers to be in some of these subsidized homes (in order for the families to receive govern aid, the fathers couldn't be in the home). thus creating more fatherless homes.

New here. I loved the history run down. I recently bought my first bike (R3) I grew up in Rockford IL. Insane crime rate but also INCREDIBLE food and great history. If you’re ever out that way check out the west side.
this area might need a revisit. specifically the north side of south shore. around 71st-73rd & jeffery. i just bought a condo over there & it looks & feels nothing like terror town. especially with the obama center coming. i think 79th is like the divider between south shore & south chicago so hovering near the high 70s is kind of unfair lol

A lot of the problems with those project high rises was when your kids went outside, you couldn’t keep an eye on them.
And the pure number of kids that lived in single parent homes there
