Big Chip is Holy Grail for Muskie, i have lived it
i still think you should keep going back to Superior for giant pike. some of rhe largest pike in north america live there! especially late summer early fall when those mondo girls come back shallow from rhe depths . if you put in the time i see a 45"+ in your future, and in the fall that fish will be pushing 30lbs with the girth ive seen on some of the monster pike out of superior . i remember reading a article in a old in- fisherman magazine gosh maybe 25 yrs ago and one of the guys said Superior was by far his favorite place to catch giant pike. i believe he said around isle royal he had a day were he caught a crazy amount of fish over 40" and one that was 48" . keep up the good work where ever you choose to fish , i grew up reading articles by Lee and always enjoyed him and i love watch your guys channel.
Well done Robbie...hope to see you there many more times...
Yes on the series
Yes, big chip musky hunt with Lee! I was trolling in the background when you were talking about your sidescan and the millfoil weeds.
awesome robbie! love the vids lately!
Fished that body of water when I was a kid, need to get back there again. Great video Robbie.
Nice job Robbie respect for going out on the chip alone for the first time and catching a quality chunk
One of the best lakes to clip off your lower unit in WI lol
Lol yup
I'm 74 now, my dad used to fish I believe the same flowage back when I was 10. He would make it an annual with his employs every year. They would camp out in a tent and fish out of a canoe for muskeys. They had to go back in by jeep. I was only up there once, it was very primitive.
Great video, I actually caught my first musky ever on PB 42" back in 07 been hooked ever since!
Great catch
Nice fishing trip, nice catch. Quick tip from someone that fishes alone a lot. I see you pinch the net handle in the boat seat, but that can pop out, or maybe someone doesn't have that option. What I do is put a length of cut off bungee cord on the handle with zip ties and then wrap that with duct tape to cover those zip ties (To keep things smooth and tangle free), then I zip tie a d-ring clip on the other end at just the right length to clip on a boat cleat on the opposite gunnel, but leave most of the next hanging in the water on the opposite side. You are then totally hands free, with no worries about the net, while removing hooks, handling the fish, etc. It also makes handling the fish for measuring, etc. much safer for you and the fish without worrying about the net accidentally going overboard.
NEW VIDEOOOO! YEAAAAA!
Great vid Robbie! Nice Fish! Jealous in Idaho!
Love the chip. Spent a lot of time on it, its tough for muskies.
Definitely do a Chip series that would be amazing!
Been quite awhile but I have caught quite a few on that spot back in the early 90s. Use to be a great body of water for duck hunting as well. PB out there is somewhere around 43in if I remember correctly.
For the rain you could get some small umbrellas and rig up your cameras. I've seen some small ones for hunting
My guess is Pete's bar that's where you caught that fish Flowage green seems to be the color up there a lot of guys like to fish and that and chartreuse with black in the combination big matlock's also work very well for trolling wasn't just a few years ago that they opened up trolling to us keep sending the great fishing videos love your Channel
have been fishing there since 1992 46" PB seen bigger lost a giant back in 2007 still haunts me and yes would love a fall series
Nice fish, Robbie.
I have always wanted to fish there.
48 inch released in front of siskos. Great vid
Robbie: take all of us out of our comfort zone. A series on the Chip would be awesome. An idea, have a subscriber in the boat with you each day. They pay their own way at the Garmish Inn, but have the pleasure of helping you expand your channel. One from the furthest distance, one in each age group (20s, 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s. Male or female, but must have Muskie experience. You get the rights to all video footage. They get a copy for personal use only. They can not have a UA-cam channel. You could consider people with prior Chip experience and help them use their knowledge of the Chip to catch fish. That would be a great series.
Went there for our first time and 4th cast caught my pb 49 incher i love this body of water especially the looks
Sweet what was the magic bait LOL
@@andrewwilliams9831 rubber
Yes, spend a few days on the Chip. Fish both sides and compare them for the viewers.
East side produces more muskies
Def do a series on the Chip!! Gotta include the rivers that come out of it too!
PB 51”, congrats on the first time fish.
Nice job on that show. That lake is a challenge for sure. Only fished it twice and lost a couple.
thats where i caught my first musky it was 45 inch tiger it was a good fight
Congratulations on the first chip skie! The speedboats are annoying, in June I was heading west (into the wind on my Tuffy rental) and I counted 7 ! Seven speed boats heading my direction spanning about a hundred yards. I just powered down and grabbed a beer from the cooler and hopefully they see me. 🎣. And yes another chip video would be great !
My dad caught two on that spot one night Robbie. My buddy caught a 48 there on one of our trips.
Nice video Robbie. You outta spend some time with Tom Boley, maybe video together. I’m sure he’s caught or raised a lot of skis on the Chip while walleye and bass fishin. Seems like a good guy, knows his stuff.
Chip series would be long overdue
Great video as always! Just a quick question, what view setting do you use on the gopros? (Linear, wide, superview, etc)
There is so much flowage to cover. I think you should do more coverage on the chip. You have GPS so you can find your way back haha explore more areas and you will find more fish. Been fishing the chip for 20 years or better and still haven't covered the whole area. But at that keeps the videos coming love watching them
Yessir
Great Lake. One of my favorite to fish in Wisconsin.
I know all the spots where you were fishing. Photographic memory come handy lol I love the chip and everything it has to offer
Been fishing the Chip for a lot of years. I can tell you that not everybody figures it out well enough to score on their first attempt at fishing that body of water! Congrats!
Loving the content, please do a chip series! Wish I knew some good spots but I understand why you don’t announce these things lol. I’ll be fishing the flowage hard the last week of this month trying to boat my first musky, wish me luck!!
Good luck big cat
36in off “Blank” bar ;)
Man if you like traveling we have a lake here in Kentucky Rowan county we have a musky hatchery here and we have some huge musky it's the musky capital for Ky and all the creeks and streams have natural and stocked musk most of the creeks here lead to the Ohio river but the creek ones are easier to catch but to get the monster musky u want to hit cave run lake
Do the boilermaker's spin like a regular bucktail?
That would be a sweet series
Yes please do a Chippewa Flowage series. I come up there all the time staying at Siskios Pinepoint Resort. Will be there on the 21st for a week with the family. Been going up there since I was a baby. I’m 48 now lol.
I caught a 32 inch Musky there on the Chippewa flowage
Solid fish, Robbie, nice work! There's a reason why community holes become community holes, right?
@todaysangler CAN YOU GUYS PLEASEEEEEE DO A VIDEO WITH CHRISWILLEN! Would be also cool to maby see you guys to a reg musky tackle vs fly settup competition together and also a video of the benefits of using a fly settup, too many people scoff at using a fly rod for musky fishing but a oh so good thing to have, it doesn’t get much more finesse than a fly!
In moss creek
Ive spent 3 1/2 days covering most of both sides of that lake scanning and spot picking before a tourney. When the drawdown happens in the fall, that lake changes completely. Id say do more fishing and filming there. Its got alot of potential and history, regardless what people do or don't believe. Ive been going to the area for 20+ years and never bothered fishing there much because of the tourism traffic in the summer.
When you fish a new lake do you acquire maps that mark hazards? I’m always weary of trying new water due to rocks, Canadian Shield can be rough up here
Yes
I was on the water Sunday, saw you and waved lol…I’m on the chip all the time, we should go out musky fishing
I would love to go fishing with you brother let's get it
Arguably, not a single "legit" world record out of that water.
Well said. Notice Robbie air quotes wod record on vid
Chip is such a contentious body of water. Absolutely beautiful but lots of traffic all of varieties. That being said, there have been some 50"+ fish being picked up.
I do have a secret spot for you, I hear rumors of a gigantic musky just off of Lake Heyward. It's so big you can see it breaching the water over the trees. You got to be careful though if you try to catch it the gift shop security will come and kick you out.
I was on my honeymoon and had to stop to look when I saw that musky over the treetops. Hey can't blame it, with that vegetation and structure its in.
@@BirchBarkOutdoors haha I hear they like Birch and White Pine those giant musky.
You must be fishing the west side. There aren't any weeds in 3' of water on the east side. Water is a different color as well. Very dark tea color, wont let the sun penetrate. More boats on the west side too. That's where all the resorts are.
Sure looks like the east side.
@@trevorolson997 Weeds 6-7 on east side, 10-12 on clearer west side. Drawdown for weed control a myth
Check out Eric Haataja’s U.P. (Upper peninsula) Pike caught last week to beat his new PB @ 45 😳
Robbie you should check out LCO. Tough lake with not a lot of fish but there's still records to be caught out of there.
Was fishing at LCO all of last week. Had a lazy follow from the biggest fish I have ever seen. My guess is 55-58 inches but obviously can’t be super sure. Very big fish though no doubt
East or west side?
I have a question. Does anyone eat Muskie? Or just take a picture of their catch. Seems like fun to catch one. I guess I’m going to have to purchase some heavy duty equipment 😎
Most people that fish musky absolutely do not eat them they are completely a game fish that most people catch and release. Some people eat them but true musky fisherman turn our heads on those people.
I eat them I keep a small one every year out of a creek or river they pretty well keep it stocked but I always leave the females no matter what but they are damn good eating
Great video and would like to see a Chip series. My dad has fished there over 50 years; my brothers and I about 30 years. A controversial water, but I love to fish it. If you want to learn it check in with Ty Sennett. Although my brother’s up there now and would fish with you.
Not trying to be argumentative or anything like that at all, but I'm pretty sure that the "69 pounder" that was supposedly caught at Chip Falls was illegitimate, but regardless thanks for the vid I always enjoy watching these!
For sure was fake.
Right on. Anyway I gotta say you're a heckuva fisherman pal! Best of luck out there
Try going t ok holcome atleast ones because I cought 4 musky in a 2 weeks there not good for u but great for me and one was like 43 so I'm happy and the Chippewa flowage goes thro holcome flowage
The spot is famous because it just keeps producing fish.
Four from that bar, no giants.
Am i blind for not seeing the fish at 7:20?
I'm with you, I kept rewinding and nothing
When Robbie goes into the 8 you can see the back/tail heading off to the left of the screen.
I raised a 54 incher last year there on a sandbar
Raised a 54? How do you measure a follow so precisely.
@@Steussie experience
Robbie, really? The spots by the launch were "tooken"? 🤣
Such a sad discovery. World record waters and its over fished! I was waiting for you to say you made it to canada.
We all know that world record wasn't legit
petes bar
Fished Pete's bar several times and never raised a fish
Genetics, pressure, climate change. Enough. Fish adapt and so must anglers. Nice to see a few positive comments about this beautiful lake. Very rewarding to overcome it all and see and catch muskies here. Sooo many are not successful. A series would be very helpful and informative about the current fishery as it is now. Appreciate the truthfulness.
I appreciate you trying to keep your jacket off the camera, but screw the camera and bag that Muskie
Video kind of boring.
In October you should do musky fishing with suckers there
