Such a great piece, beautifully played! Thank you for this. I was very glad to hear you in performance at the University of Maryland a few years ago. You have a complete command of the marimba and portray such confidence and power.
The voicings and polyrhythmic aspects are fascinating. I'm not familiar with the marimba as a solo instrument, but must say, based on your splendid performance, I'm quite interested in both the instrument and its literature. Thank you for sharing your performance.
@@ejpproject You're welcome. While always aware of the marimba, the instrument, at least in my personal experience, has been continuously overshadowed by the vibraphone and it really wasn't until your solo presentation that the singular and unique attributes of this fascinating instrument made a lasting impression. The organic "woody" quality quickly distinguishes the instrument as does it's lack of sustain. Looking forward to more presentations.
@@pacz8114 The marimba has an amazing solo repertoire, and a fascinating history. Highly recommend "Two Mexican Dances" by the same composer (perhaps THE standard rep piece), as well as his two-mallet solo "Wood That Sings"
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Amazing at ALL levels, from composition to performance> SO inspiring...thank you for posting!
Her sweetness Eriko Daimo. The most soulful marimba player I've ever seen! 🤩
