I once installed a mobile broadband modem in a laptop that had no support for it like this: -bought a mobile broadband modem and removed its casing and its USB connector -squeezed it into the laptop chasis (there was some space where i could fit it - the absolute make or break question is whether you can fit the stripped-down bb modem in the laptop chasis or not). -soldered 4 small wires onto the bb modem (to the connections where the USB connector was) -soldered the other ends of the wires to the internal USB connection of the motherboard (the internal port for the touchpad is the best option because it uses a negligible amount of the USB's bandwidth, leaving most of the USB port's capacity for the bb modem Yes, you have to disassemble the laptop if you want to change the SIM, but it's better than not having mobile broadband at all. Keep in mind: - by doing this, you void the warranty (if any) - Must totally unpower the laptop (disconnect the small CMOS battery and wait for the capacitors to discharge) before doing this - The soldering iron's power should not exceed 3 watts - if you're trying this for the first time, i recommend buying a $10 laptop from eBay and experimenting on that. Cheers and greetings from Hungary
KEEP IN MIND that some people, LIKE ME, are more than capable of upgrading their own laptop! Especially if that person is on a strict budget and can't afford the latest and greatest laptop!
I was thinking of upgrading the CPU on my Sony Vaio , but after you were saying that upgrading to SSD is just as good and cheaper I’ll go down that road and also replace the cd drive to what you said about.
tell me the specification and model of the laptop. Install the free program CPU-Z into your laptop from the Internet. On the first tab of the program, look at the processor model and socket type. On the "Mainboard" tab, look at which chipset and southbridge.

I have a Toshiba laptop from 2011 that refuses to quit. It's slow but a great laptop. Never had any issues. I don't want to buy a new one when the one I am using is till running so I am going to attempt to upgrade it. Toshiba makes good stuff too bad they don't make it anymore.
I watched this last year and upgraded my Sony Vaio With SsD and Ram . Do you have the link for what processor I can upgrade to . I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW41M

Hi, thanx for this beautiful video. I have sony e series laptop with amd processor , it's motherboard is dead, I would like to install i3 processer and suitable motherboard. How can you help me, can i do the same, if yes then how and which motherboard should I purchase. Please help.
Thanks for this tutorial, my question is, I have a HP Elitebook 8560p which has a second generation core i7 processor , is it possible to upgrade the cpu to a 6th or seventh generation core 17? its a 2011 laptop
No you can't upgrade to a new generation of the i-series processes because the socket type will be different, this rule is the same on a desktop unless you replace the main board at the same time witch will be expensive almost the cost of a new computer
I think the question that should be asked before upgrading is what do you want to do with it. If it does everything you want it to do right now, why upgrade. I only word process, check my email, and surf the web so a core 2 duo is all right for my needs. SSDs are great for laptops, every laptop should have one. They are very quick, battery life goes up, they run cooler, they are sturdy, once you go SSD you will not go back. Thermal paste is good if it is running hot. More RAM, thermal paste, and an SSD is all I would do. Laptops are tools and nothing to get sentimental over.
Hello. Does this laptop have discrete graphics card ? if not that before upgrading processor you should check rather that processor has Integrated graphics Intel HD or not . There are certain core i5 models of G1 Processors which don't have any integrated graphics so you will not be able to upgrade it . Core i7 upgrade will be impossible . first issue is thermals as core i7 processors have higher TDP's and second most of the core i7 g1 cpu don't have integrated graphics . Hopefully it will help !
Hi Sir, I am a DIY and can you tell me what CPU I need to order for my VPCEH24FX sony vaio pcg-71913L, I have a i3 and I would like the most out of it? whats the best CPU and what do I need to order, money no option? where are you? im in Miami so I can pay you to do the Job?

I have a vaio that has a i5-2430M CPU @2.40GHz and there's 6GB OF RAM. I've already upgraded the harddrive since the old one died on me with a 1TB. I'm curious as to would it be faster and worth the money to upgrade the graphics card and the RAM? any info is greatly appreciated
If it was my laptop I wouldn't upgrade any further, even with the 1TB HDD you get storage but speed performance is still slow compared to an SSD. The Ram can be maxed out of course. I can't advise you what to do since your situation may be different.
Hello, sir I have Sony Vaio VPCEB44EN ,..I already upgraded motherboard (older have graphic issue ), Upgraded RAM , Replaced harddisk, also replaced the processor with same one,.. Thanks for this nice video , I have an i5 2430 m cpu in my fujitsu laptop , and I'm looking to change the cpu for i7 model with the same socket and generation number , but I watched a video on youtube for a guy who changed the old Pentium cpu to i7 but the turbo boost technology does not work with him , so my question is: if I upgrade my cpu to i7 QM model , it would work with turbo boost or not ? And if the TDB of my current processor is 35 W and the new one will be 45 or 55 W ,will it works ?
hey, i got a question can you put a computer cup on a think pad. My laptop is very very old was looking if i could upgrade it. its a celeron core2duo 2.0 GhZ. can i put a i3 in it. my laptops an lenovo t61, please help :)
Hello! I have a laptop called Gateway and the specs are 4gb ram,the processor is Intel (R) Celeron(R) CPU N2929 @ 1.86GHz. What should I buy to make the laptop at least play some games like CSGO or Minecraft really good. Please reply!
May I ask this question? Is this fast enough to play games like roblox? Intel core i3-2310m @ 2.10ghz. 4gb ram 64bit, Win 10? I was hoping to buy used just for my niece this Christmas as she likes to play that game so much.
it is better to install a second memory module for 2 or 4GB (SO-DIMM DDR3-1333) and make 6-8GB of RAM. The processor also needs to be stronger: i5-2540m. The best way to do it is to buy an i7-2670qm processor. How to install it in a laptop, go to Windows "Power Plan" and set the maximum power supply to the processor from the mains and the battery - 99%, minimum - 0%. Get 4 cores / 8 threads / 2.2GHz. This is good for many games :) You will still have time to improve your laptop before Christmas)
Also you can integrate a sim modem. Taking the outer shell out and connect the usb by soldering wire. But the sim can be removed by only opening the back cover.
I got a Sony Vaio model Vgn-sz57tn for free. It did not come with an operating system, so I don't know the specs of the machine.
