  • On the recommendation from a friend, I ordered the GoRuck Ballistic Trainers and have been absolutely blown away by these shoes. Hope this video gives you enough of my shoe experience for context, and then my initial impressions, to help you decide if you want to get these on your feet too.

**UPDATE** watched a video from the developer of the shoe, who said the extra insole is actually a 5mm option, instead of the contoured insole that comes in the shoe. I haven’t tried it, but wanted to offer more clarity.

I’m a huge fan of the Altra HIIT XT. Zero drop and wide toe box. It has performed valiantly and lasted many many years through numerous heavy, weightlifting sessions, WODs, shuttle runs, agility drills, box jumps, and sled pushes. It was replaced by the Altra Solstice XT2. Unfortunately, in the interim since I bought my Altras, the company has changed ownership, and apparently the quality has gone down precipitously. I don’t wanna buy the Solstice because I’ve seen so many bad reviews online of people complaining about the sole coming off and the sole separating, etc. after only a couple months of usage. So I’m looking at either of the GoRuck or the Xero 360.

Thank you for the video. I am in my 60s and overweight. I am back in the gym every other day. Question is. Looking for a shoe to do it all. Walking lifting light billing, is this the shoe. I was wondering sense they are made for extra weight will that work for fat guy just the same. Thanks again.

Also do you have wide feet?

    • @KenLovell75

@@111wash these shoes for sure are great for everything and for all sizes Athletes. So stable! I don’t have wide feet, just normal. But the toe box in these are more wide than most shoes for a great foot splay for even better stability.

How much run would you do on it?

    • @KenLovell75

@@richardbarthelemy4431 I’ve only ran 1-mile intervals (“Murph”) so far and no issue compared to when I’ve normally done that in running shoes. It’s not a primary running shoe but is amazing for that shorter stuff… especially when I transition into a squaring, lunging, lifting movement.

    • @richardbarthelemy4431

@@KenLovell75 thanks. I understand it’s not a running shoe. I’m looking for a workout shoe that I could run 3-5 miles comfortably. I usually do a slow 1 mile warmup than gym workout than a couple of miles running or maybe 3 miles if I have time/energy. Also I want to travel light with 1 shoe. When I travel I usually end up running much more than a workout so that why I’m looking into these.

@@richardbarthelemy4431 these could handle that. OR, you could go their Rough Runners which are more of a running shoe, but can handle the gym too, AND even handle the trail runs and hikes. Even more of a complete shoe.
