- Since bombay duck fish was available only in Bombay in the yesteryears this procedure was used to marinate and store the fish that can be used during the rainy reason. During the rains the alternative was consuming dry fish.
Ingredients
dry bombay duck fish 1/2 kg
red chilies 25
cumin seeds 3/4 tbsp
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 pod garlic
1 inch ginger piece
vinegar as required

Yes Maria u can first dry fry d bombil n rub the dirt away then u can wash d bombil in running water not soak ...n then drying them in d sun then prepare it like d bangla pickle recipe ok follow that in sefra channel

Can we wash it with water and sun dry it?
There are variety of vinegars available and also differently priced, u can use any vinegar. If u wash it with water and again sun dry it, that would lengthen the process needlessly and even if a bit of moisture would remain the whole pickle is going to get bad in no time

That was a mouth watering recipe. Im overseas and i dont think we get this dry bombal here. Can we use this recipe Masala for any other dry fish. I recently started browsing yr website I like all yr recipes so simple and clear explanation. Soon i will get on preparing them. I can smell the aroma of yr cooking even before me cooking. It is just a recipe to store and preserve the dry fish bombil, a kind of marination for it. If you plan to prepare it and consume immediately then you are free to make any variation in seasoning, cooking, frying etc

You have not fried the Bombay ducks after washing and cleaning them.
It's supposed to be fried before eating, it's not precooked, this is only the long period marination for it, in other words long period storage
Good recipe, Please don’t use steel spoons on nonstick....use wooden spoon for nonstick, you are scraping the nonstick chemical coat as you mix.. this causes cancer...this is seriously unhealthy... all details are important in cooking.
It's not nonstick but anodized vessel but thank u for ur advice
You can use silicon spatula for clearing the mixie jar of the masala paste. That will save you from using vinegar to wash off the jar.
